here's a useful trick. tutorials (and achievements) tend to really muck up your code and get in everywhere. here's how i set up the tutorial in holedown. there's a handful of functions that look at the state of the game, i can combine these to look for more complex states.

Here's how the screenshake works in , behind the playfield there's a point (yellow) the camera aims at (through the blue x). When I trigger a shake I offset that yellow point a bit, the every frame I move it back slightly with a bit of inertia. Works great!
