When you think of the example
Micheál Martin set by obeying rules and not having his family at his inauguration, he must feel incredibly betrayed by the carry on of the Oireachtas Golf Society.
My Daughters school is only allowing the students to wear their school tracksuits on days they have PE. They are the warmest uniform clothes available.
Surely the Department should issue a directive that given classroom conditions, School tracksuits should be the main uniform
What kind of monster writes a reference for a rapist on behalf of a GAA club. Should be removed from his position.
As a coach of a girls team I'd be disgusted if anyone were to use my clubs name in such a submission.
Re that video of Varadkar.
One of the things I love about this country is the access to Politicians we have. They do ordinary things and are treated no differently. Many TD's use public transport or cycle. Most are very approachable.
It would be a shame to lose that.
Friends in Spain were telling me that it was people leaving Madrid for the coasts that were in part responsible for the spread of Covid 19 there.
Stay at home this weekend.
That lady who has worked on the frontline in a nursing home and got a deportation notice, has contributed more to Irish Society than any of the so called "Patriots".
Regardless if Zero Covid will work or not there’s the fairness element of it.
I can’t go beyond 5km to see my family, yet there are flights coming in from Lanzarote etc daily. Fuck holidaymakers and make them pay for a fortnights quarantine,
Longford Roads Policing Unit were conducting a checkpoint when they stopped this vehicle. It was found that the driver had no licence or insurance. They also tested positive for cocaine and cannabis. The driver was arrested and the car was seized. Proceedings to follow.
I don't think I've seen dogs feature so much in an election campaign ever. ..... Here's a pic of Dev with his dogs ..... and a short thread on dogs in election material

Just passed the Savita mural and there is a large pile of flowers, a repeal jumper and I'd hazard some teardrops too. I'll think of her, my wife , my daughter and all Women in Ireland as I cast my Yes vote to

Listening to Claire Byrne, seems to be a lot of parents going mad at the prospect of the mid term being extended for a week.
Some citing the children's mental health. It's a week, not a month.
If it helps stops the spread of Covid and allows us have a Christmas it's worth it.
"Female Streets" Map showing Streets named after women between the canals in Dublin.
Out of 578 streets, 32 are named after women, 308 after men, 22 after families, 216 named after Geographical features.....
Listened to yesterday's

on my walk today. It literally stopped me in my tracks numerous times.
The strangest part of the week has been listening to the stories, hearing St Patrick's on The Navan Road mentioned and waiting for clues wondering if it is my birth mother.
Was at a festival in Cork, Bob Dylan was due to headline but pulled out as he was ill.
Each artist comes on and dedicates a song "this one's for Bob" etc etc
Shane McGowan headlining walks on and says "Fuck Bob Dylan!"
R.I.P.
Laughing at all the Irish fans of British clubs giving out about the European Super League.
Most have a League on their doorstep that they wouldn't spit on.
Did you think any of these clubs care for anything other than making a profit for their owners?
Fairly obvious The Beacon had their own unofficial Standby list for the vaccines.
Won't be long now til we find out some Schools Rugby team got vaccinated too.
Christ, how mean, scabby and disrespectful it is to be charging Frontline Health Workers parking when we've all been told not to use Public Transport

A Friend in Kerry was telling me since there are sadly no funerals to go to, certain TDs have been stalking RIP dot IE to ensure that they are on the first page of the condolences section!
I'm no expert on the War of Independence ..... However regarding all the RIC / Black and Tans stuff , it's worrying that there seems to have been no voice saying "eh folks, you realise this won't go down well"
What I'm sure you've been waiting for ... A thread of Trinity Seanad By-Election Leaflets
Starting off with this from Michael McDermott (which wasn't sent out to all voters!)
I have a crate of hundreds of pro-life leaflets. There is not one positive mention of sex education, reducing crisis pregnancies etc. Everything is about trying to roll back whatever legislation is there. Roll back the X-Case, no to travel, no to information.

Dereliction is ruining Dublin. The idea that a property owner would willing destroy their own property as it is far more profitable to do so rather than renovate is criminal.
Some photos of 23 Prussia St now.
The space has been taken back but it’s been badly damaged. People that live there say bedrooms have been covered in oil, every toilet has been smashed and windows and appliances have been broken. Spaces used for community events…
There were plans to issue a £100 banknote featuring Gráinne Mhaol, 'The Pirate Queen', in 1979. Then the 1980s recession happened ... Here is the final design proposal
What kind of stupidity are the GAA at. ..... Issuing statements about legal advice re Páirc Uí Chaoimh....
This is about hosting a charity match for the family of a Corkman who died at 36.

What's so refreshing about the
#tommytiernanshow
is that nobody is plugging anything, no new book, no new film, no new TV series or the like. The guests are there as they are interesting people.
Buried a loved one yesterday. We abided by all the rules.... sending invites to funerals!
Was hard not hugging, shaking hands but that's where we are. Have very little sympathy with the bride looking for an extra hour.

My brother was in a toilet yesterday and a lad walks in wearing a facemask , into the cubicle, does his business and leaves without washing his hands

Just thinking of all these Oireachtas Societies.
Are new TD's and Senators greeted with stands as they go in , to be tempted by Pizza discount vouchers, mini bags of Harbio, stickers and promises of exciting outings?
Giving daughters pal a lift to EP in the morning... I asked where he lived....
She answered....
I remarked how his area is now in a new constituency.
Looking forward to telling him all about his new constituency on the drive down tomorrow 🤣
You'd swear there wasn't a load of empty hotels around the airport. Many of whose employees are probably on the PUP payment anyway. You'd think they'd give mandatory quarantine a go at least.
I know they're not exactly top of the list but Third Level students have had a very tough time with Covid. Must be brutal for first years. Many haven't set foot on campus since March. Most are tucked away in their rooms endlessly watching lectures, doing exams etc
Housing is such a massive issue ..... even such an easy win like taxing investment funds buying housing, never mind banning them buying in bulk as an emergency measure seems beyond our Government.
Estates being boxed off for Multinational funds looks so bad on so many levels
The Dept overruling the Covid App is pretty alarming. Seems that teachers will have to die before they'd consider closing schools. Incredibly dangerous and at odds with the alarm of a suspected case in government.
Masked men harass Minister Roderic O'Gorman by covering his home in unfounded propaganda banners this evening. And it appears stopping a car in his street. Is this where we are now? Is your home no longer a safe space? Where will this end?
Sorry to hear of the passing of Nan Joyce. She was the first Traveller to run for the Dail. She ran in Dublin South West in November 1982 and polled 581 votes. R.I.P.
