I'm always impressed by how many fine art galleries you can stumble upon just by walking around DC. But in case you want to make a plan to see them, here's a guide to a few that have current/upcoming exhibits:

A group of D.C. teens has been making benches from "gentrified wood" at home renovation projects in Northwest D.C. They sell the benches at local markets and say the project has helped them practice mindfulness.
Got a chance to compile some of the moments of joy from protests today. At one point, a group of black cyclists rode down Constitution Ave and started a call-and-response chant of “I love being black,” in what sounded like unfettered, unmistakable joy.
Bizarre seeing couple hundred troops camped out at Marriott Marquis in Downtown DC today. Shuttled in and out on tour buses. No answer from

Don't know how else to say this, but it's wild seeing two attacks on the Capitol in a matter of months, when just months ago I was taking pictures with my girlfriend there to celebrate her graduation from law school. Literally running thru the grass. Dark times, man. (1/4)
Mayor Bowser, not normally known for fiery rhetoric, called Trump's comments “no subtle reminder to African Americans of segregationists who let dogs out on women, children, and innocent people in the South" and an "attack on Black America."

Maggie O’Rear and Josh Tabora, of MD. They were friends in high school and Maggie wrote in his yearbook “Can’t wait to see you again in 5 years at our reunion, and your gonna be a liberal.” They ran into each other on the Metro today and are marching for BLM together.

Jim Toole, the longtime owner of Capitol Hill Books, has died. A former Navy admiral, he bought the bookstore in 1995 and sold it to his former employees in 2018. He was known for his humor and long list of words that customers couldn't say in his store.
