Twitter is the de facto outlet for my thoughts. It's not easy for a lurker to know the ethos of one's tweets at a glance. They only see recent ones. I used the API to scrape all my tweets to allow readers to scan through the most popular ones!

This is shocking. Facebook gave Netflix all your private messages on Messenger in exchange for all your watch history, while Netflix paid them $100M+ for ads. Meta will sell your data at a heartbeat for profit.

If you’re not from India and you ever meet someone from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) who studied Computer Science, know that they took an examination that ~1,000,000 students spent 4 years preparing for and were (likely) in the top 300. They’re geniuses.

If you graduated in 2013 and took a job at Nvidia with $400K equity over 4yrs, just that equity (no refreshers) would now be worth... $100 million! This is not a joke. The stock ~250x'd in 11yrs.

I lived in India for a year and it is SO MUCH HARDER to be fit– - Gyms are expensive / inaccessible - Harder to walk / run on streets + lower quality air - Difficult to find healthy food - Few social options without food+drinks Most high-income Indians aren't very fit.

Raising a child in the US seems hellish compared to India. US—Wake up early, cook, drive kid to work, both parents work, do groceries, chores, cleaning. Lonely. India—Maid cleans, driver drops you, groceries in 15mins, cook cooks, parents babysit. Community. (requires $$) 1/4

India and Israel are so similar: • Religion plays a huge role • Professional achievement is a North Star. • Family is number 1. Community is essential. • Huge success in technical fields But we differ too: Israelis challenge authority and are more wired to take risks! 1/2

I had the worst flight experience of my life last night, with Indigo. My 10PM Calcutta—Bangalore flight left at 4:41AM, after 6 delays totaling 7hrs. I missed an international flight. "Always on-time" is false advertising from @IndiGo6E . I’d avoid flying them again. 🧵 1/6

The investment thesis on 35+yo married IITians in Bay Area tech is so strong. They: Will work 60hrs+ a week Have experience Rarely vacation There’s nothing else to do Don’t need “hobbies” Barely drink Have immigrant hustle You might not like to live this way, but they will win.

If all the IIT civil engineers didn't end up at McKinsey after IIM, do you think we would've figured out how to make a flat sidewalk in Bangalore?

Big news from @Tesla ! Their once proprietary charging connector is now open as the NACS. This means more public stations can charge Teslas and non-Teslas can use the supercharging network! Huge.

@RjeyTech I can’t imagine being a tech-forward car company who is so out of touch that they say “Let me know who this kid is” about MKBHD, perhaps the biggest tech YouTuber there is. It’s unsurprising that their tech is bad

India's research output has no global standing. It simply isn't set up to make deep technical contributions to the world. India's top taking university, IISc, ranks #161 in the Nature index for high quality research. The US has 37 and China has a surprising 33 in the top 100!

I know a lot of people in India and other countries often look down on Americans at large as “stupid”, but at the most elite tier, they are some of the most ferociously smart and hard-working people on the planet.

Most engineers who make $250k out of college at FB or Google doing 30hrs/week could probably solve a dynamic programming problem but couldn’t ship their own static blog in a week.

I find it abhorrent when Hollywood takes an awesome book like 3 Body Problem and injects diversity in race and gender for "global appeal". Despite having a primarily Asian cast, everyone watched Squid Game — people watch good shows! 🧵 Here's how they should've looked:

Growing up, Paul Graham’s principles of using less words gave me a lot of solace. In a British colony like India at a Catholic school, we were taught the opposite: Use fancy words. Prefer verbosity. Signal your class. This distracted so many people from: Just. Knowing. Stuff.
