Since Eric Nam (
@ericnamofficial
), a zionist, will be playing Aang in the ATLA movie, we have decided to refrain from sharing any posts on the movie mentioning the actor until
@ParamountPics
recasts the character. We hope you will join us in demanding a recast.

a complete thread (π§΅) on eric namβs zionism and zionist connections AND the most effective way to let your voices be heard to demand a recast for aang

βwe needed to make sure he had that drive from the startβ aang is not a business man heβs a 12 yr old boy!!! also visions???? aang can see the future now???
this is so funny because the official atla cookbook confirms that aang loves cooking for katara and does it regularly!! he often modifies his air nomad recipes for kataraβs water tribe palate.
reducing katara to just βthe girlβ is so dismissive of her part in the story. the creators have said that she is just as important as aang; sheβs the other main character. the story is told through her perspective.
ppl always use the "hero gets the girl" trope to bash Kataang, when it clearly doesn't fit their story. The end of the war isn't about the hero getting the girl, itβs about them finally getting to explore their feelings in a peaceful world, a victory they fought for together
to prevent misinformation: the movie is NOT being delayed because they are recasting eric nam. the movie is being delayed because there were tons of layoffs at avatar studios (and paramount globally) in 2024.
NOW is the time to be vocal and demand a recast for eric nam.
what i love so much about this photo from the upcoming movie is that katara and aang can incorporate small parts of each otherβs culture into their clothing (katara wearing yellow around her waist, aang wearing blue armbands) while still wearing their own cultural clothing
when you realize how much their first encounter meant to katara, who had been robbed of her childhood at such an early age. she goes on to tell tenzin in her letter that she fell in love with aangβs youthful joy and silly nature - his ability to bring fun back in her life.
βshouldnβt you boycott the atla movie anyway because paramount is a zionist corporation?β
we will - and we encourage you to do the same. with that said, why shouldnβt we demand for a recast? why should we continue to allow zionists to hold prominent roles in entertainment?
βThere are certain roles I think that Katara did in the cartoon that we didnβt necessarily also do here. I mean, I donβt want to really get into a lot of that, but some gender issues that didnβt quite translate from the cartoon.β - Albert Kim, producer of ATLA Live Action.
Aang (2005): βI did get to meet you.β
Katara (2024): βI wouldnβt have missed it for the world. A world I wouldnβt have seen if it wasnβt for you.β
@phaithful1423
what agenda? weβve literally made a tweet to tell ppl to check out the showrunnerβs previous interview (which was done really well) and made lots of tweets about the LA. then came the news about changes to sokka, katara (which makes no sense) and NOW aang.
whatever this decision from the writers and netflix may be, it does not give you an excuse to send any hate to the actress that plays katara, who is still a minor.
aang telling tenzin about how important the balcony kiss was to him. βalthough it was years ago, i remember it like it was yesterday. and it still makes me smile.βπ₯Ή
βaang and kataraβs harmonious ways of bending began a new era of deeper understanding and cross-cultural exchange amongst all benders.β - iroh
the meaning behind this quote & the significance of katara & aangβs relationship to the post-war era of avatar: the last airbender π§΅β
fun fact: katara touches aangβs face not once, not twiceβ¦ but a total of FOUR times, the last time being while theyβre kissing to pull him closer (thatβs a whole other level of intimacy)
the fact that she DID this with aangπ except in this case it was actually a loving and tender gesture and not her just touching his face to examine a scar
why eric namβs casting as aang is disrespectful and tone-deaf: aang is a genocide survivor. the fictional genocide of the air nomads, based off the real life massacre of tibetans by the chinese government, has very real similarities to the Palestinian genocide.
βThere are certain roles I think that Katara did in the cartoon that we didnβt necessarily also do here. I mean, I donβt want to really get into a lot of that, but some gender issues that didnβt quite translate from the cartoon.β - Albert Kim, producer of ATLA Live Action.
headcanon that katara is the head of the public health department at republic city university and during one of her lectures aang drops by to visit and introduces himself as dr. kataraβs husband
according to avatar legends, aang helped bring scholars from all over the four nations to create republic cityβs first ever university. he even got the former dean of ba sing se to become the new dean of republic city university.
malaysia is extremely pro-palestine. his lack of speaking up at the request of his fans, his lack of interest to educate himself on the genocide, and FINALLY him quietly cancelling the tour date reaffirms that his priorities will not be with palestine and his pro-palestine fans.
many have defended nam in our qrts and replies by stating that his post was meant to be βneutral.β
taking a βneutralβ stance on the palestinian genocide means to be pro-israel. we will link resources at the end to educate yourself on why this postβs stance is considered zionism
katara did not defend aang against her family and say that he brought fun back in her life during their FIRST ENCOUNTER just for you to claim that sheβs only infatuated with him βout of pity.β aang is literally the physical embodiment of her hope and happiness.
@jinxspowpow
sadly the only reason they are the ship they are is because katara pities him in every way, & that is where her infatuation lies. aangβs tragedies, not aang.
aang just falls in love w/ her because sheβs the first thing he sees after regaining consciousness
when he announced the asian dates to his world tour, nam was met with rightful backlash by malaysian fans for liking that βneutralβ post. when he didnβt speak up, they asked him not come to their country. he deleted the tweet & removed Kuala Lumpur from his tour schedule.

katara and aang being paralleled with the moon and oceanβ¦ kataraβs words bringing aang out of the grasp of the vengeful ocean spiritβ¦ aang embracing his duty as the avatar because katara needs him.
