I'm very proud of my work on rebel moon so far - its been nice to work on something that is a slow build while I adapt to the digital comics world. I've been using Ps and Gimp etc since I was 11, but ink scans. This pencilling/inking malarkey has been new territory. Its fun!

It's easy when Mags's scripts are 🔥🔥🔥! "Beautiful violence" is very apt. Dialogue scenes, action scenes (all scenes really) are secretly dances and the page is a dance floor. The relationship between characters and themes inform the geometry of the narrative flow. Plus blood.

Clark is doing INCREDIBLE work. One thing Zack and I discussed a lot was the need for his trademark "beautiful violence" as I call it, and as hard as I tried to nail it in the script, everything would depend on visual execution. Clark absolutely sticks the landing.

Little hint - look out for kregger imagery over the 4 issues: snout armour, horns, 4 eyes...the spirit of Shasu is honoured throughout the different cultures. I've snuck lots of little things like that in the visuals and the sequences ;)

Big Blue. The model is The Mountain from GoT, as I always picture Superman as having more of a manual labourer build, like a farmer. It makes more sense than extremely ripped IMO since he's super strong regardless of muscle mass. Plus he's lived off Ma's Kansas farm food.

Whenever I draw post apocalyptic scenery I picture myself walking in it, thinking about the beauty and the danger and the silence and the smells and the temperature etc. They shouldn't just look cool, they should hint at a history of the pont when time stopped forever. imo
