Hey everyone! The crowdfunding campaign for an all new edition of "Time Breakers" has now been launched! You can check what
@WeAreZoop
and I have in store, right here, right now:
The glee has been palpable from the very introduction of AI. "Hooray, we're finally rid of those pesky artists with their talent, skills and opinions that threaten my stash of loot." They're only disappointed they can't have them shot like Pol Pot did .
I think I can mention this now: I was in the costume department on "The Flash", and got the privilege to work on Michael Keaton's Bat-suits... including these variants! (I specifically asked if I could do a grey suit, 'cos I'm a sad old fanboy too!)
Batman '66 symbol...my idea...! As was the grappling guns in holsters and the golden-age ears on the cowl! I was in fanboy heaven! Luckily I had a great lead designer, Alexandra Byrne, who was very receptive to my wacky notions!
I've been given the all-clear to show some of my costume/concept designs for Michael Keaton's Bat-suit in "The Flash". This is just four of hundreds I did in a 6-week period on the film. A big thanks to
@JimLee
for enabling this. Go rent the film, everyone... it's really good!
Just finished a new artwork called "Nosferatu: The Death Ship". The art-board measures 62.4 x 48cm. It was painted onto hot press paper with acrylic inks and given gouache highlights.
This piece is available for purchase for ยฃ2500. DM me if you're interested.
Just saw a Star Wars fan say this about TLJ: "I saw it 4 times in theatres to see if I was โmissing somethingโ, but didnโt find it. Blu Ray on the shelf, still sealed."
I wish all the people who don't like my comic art would buy four copies so they can be absolutely sure.
"Artists have been scraping a meager living for too long. Let's replace them with AI 'cos their passion, perseverance and resilience reminds me of all the qualities I lack, and we can't have that."
Comic Book writers! Try not to use the word "AND" when describing action in a single panel. "Hero grabs gun from Henchman AND shoots The Boss" is TWO panels.
My sadly rejected Batman WW1 Elsworld's pitch from about 20 years ago: What if Bruce Wayne's parents were aboard the Lusitania when the Germans sank it...?
I found a rare black and white Jean "Moebius" Giraud drawing online. I thought it would be fun to reproduce and colour in a style that would match his painted technique as closely as I could. Painted in acrylics (with a touch of coloured pencils) on thick line and wash board.
I've done another loving recreation of one of Moebius' lesser-known drawings. It's painted in acrylics on a large sheet of thick watercolour board. Available for purchase. Full details over at FB. Happy New Year, all!
RIP Keith Giffen. Along with his colleagues, J.M. DeMatteis and Kevin Maguire, his work on Justice League International did more to affect the future tone of comic books and their movie adaptations than people realise.
I'm saddened to hear about the passing of Kevin O'Neill, one of the most unique, original, subversive and inventive artists in the comic book industry. A true giant. RIP, sir.
I don't want the Fantastic Four film to have an origin story; I want a Bond-style pre-credit sequence which shows the team fully-formed & in action fighting the Mole Man. Then I want animated Pink Panther-style opening titles using Kirby's art over a swingin' jazzy theme song.
I remain convinced that Dave Bautista should have played the lead in "Blade Runner 2049". The visual of a lumbering killer in love with his tiny digital girlfriend would have brought a touching Hoskins' "Mona Lisa" vibe to the film.
Thanks for all the kind words about my "Nosferatu: The Death Ship". And I'm really grateful to everyone that shared it too. You're a lovely bunch, you lot! Here's some process shots from the project:
Forgot to say: Image has a new comic coming out called "Blood Squad Seven", which deconstructs 90s heroes. Guess who did a variant cover? Only bloody me!
I just found out that John Boyega posted a photo of his present from
@rianjohnson
(to celebrate the end of shooting on Last Jedi) on instagram. Guess who painted it? Yes, me!
So, yeah, I'm throwing it out to the universe: can we have a new Quatermass film, starring Jared Harris, written & directed by Alex Garland, music by
@jetfury
... please! A big cerebral sci-fi epic.
I drew the first issue of "Lucifer"... now in its sixth season on Netflix. I haven't had ONE cent... or a thank you note! I didn't expect any... it was WFH... but let's not assume these companies are happily dishing out $5000 cheques willy-nilly.
I did a recreation of a Moebius piece, based on one of his little-seen drawings, and added loads of acrylic colours. It was bloody difficult, but great fun. Hit me up if fancy owning it (my version, not the Moebius original! I'd never sell that!).
That time I witnessed a bank robbery and I gave the police a drawing of the criminal. They'd already caught him, however...but it was a pretty good likeness.
It's my birthday! And to cฬถyฬถnฬถiฬถcฬถaฬถlฬถlฬถyฬถ ฬถeฬถxฬถpฬถlฬถoฬถiฬถtฬถ celebrate the event, I'm having a "flash sale" of my movie poster silkscreen prints! Get yourself a whopping 25% discount off my posters from

Hey, if you want to impress us with your "creator economy", why not show us an example of something entirely original that resulted from it, instead of something that reproduced the hard work of others?
Okay, I want an "Alien" film where Mary Elizabeth Winstead plays a Space Marine Captain travelling the galaxy with her crew, wiping out xenomorph nests, and I want it NOW, please!
Hah. Gonna have to mute this now 'cos it's absorbing too much of my valuable drawing time. Sorry if I've helped induce any quantities of rage in you by bringing it to your attention!
This week sees the release of "The Trigan Empire Vol. 1" from
@RebellionPub
&
@2000AD
. AND I've just been given permission to show some of the concept art I did a few years ago for a proposed "Trigan" TV show. It was great fun & had a lovingly faithful script by
@GinBroguesHats
.

Mr Davies MP spoke for 90 minutes, meaning MPs were unable to vote
Prelim for an alternative "Fargo" poster that got nixed when one of the lead actors wouldn't sign off on the idea. I should have been drawn them a bit more flatteringly, I suspect.
Very sorry to hear about the passing of Carlos Ezquerra, co-creator of Judge Dredd & Strontium Dog. I'm not sure I can find the words to describe the significance this man's work has had on my life. RIP sir, I salute you.
Five years ago I created this tribute piece to Carlos Ezquerra featuring his creations. Something in it gave me an idea.... and five years later... (go buy
