Disappointed to see that parliament has only sat for six of the last 55 days and is now about to embark on a 24 day 'conference recess'. If MPs are concerned about their low standing in public esteem, sorting this out would be a good place to start.

Please can neutral commentators stop referring to the tax 'burden'. Despite recent increases, the GDP/Tax ratio remains lower in the UK than in most other comparable economies. Tax fairly raised and distributed is the subscription we pay for living in a civilised society.

Oh Yvette, must we really become the party of Wonga, Sports Direct, FTSE fat cats and buy-to-let landlords? And if so, what's the point?

The next Labour leader should preferably be: (a) a woman (b) northern and (c) not too closely associated with the outgoing management. A sense o humour and a touch of charisma would be useful, too.

My gripe about the BBC is that the news is becoming so insular. Entire bulletins pass with scarcely a foreign story. Also, a growing tendence to obsess about big domestic stories to the exclusion of all else. Not to mention increasing tendency to resort to fatuous vox pops.

Following the demonstration organised by the Jewish Board of Deputies outside parliament earlier this month, I published tweets which offended a number of people. On reflection I can see why they were upset and I apologise. The offending tweets have been deleted.

@jayrayner1 Been a Labour Party member for 50 years and have never come across it personally, though I accept it may exist in pockets. Corbyn, for all his faults, doesn't have a racist bone in his body.

A recent YouGpov poll found that 63 percent of Tory party members are delighted/pleased/relieved by the prospect of a no-deal Brexit. The comparable figure for the electorate as a whole is 18 percent. And they have the nerve to suggest that Labour is in the grip of extremists.

New Centre Party? Seen this film before. Remember how it ended? 18 years of Tory government and the SDP being wound up after it received less votes than the Monster Raving Loony Party in the Bootle by-election.

Whatever you think of this guy, he's a class act. Calm, focussed, wry humour, refusing to be provoked. He's going to be much harder to monster than Arthur Scargill. @martinlewis @KayBurley @HackedOffHugh @grantshapps

Interesting interview. I think describing Mick Lynch as flustered is pushing it a tad. He comes across as almost scarily unflustered to me - I don't envy those who have to face him across a negotiating table.

Surely, time that medical students were required either to work in the NHS for a defined period or to repay all or part of the cost of their training, if they go abroad. Third of medical students plan to quit NHS within two years of graduating
