If you are in school administration right now, you have one main job — make it easier for teachers to do their jobs well. I mean... that’s pretty much our jobs all the time, but it’s never been more important or harder to figure out how to do well. Clear a path. That’s all.

Dear teacher who is thinking about starting that TikTok account where you make fun of stuff kids do and say in your classroom. Take a minute to imagine a kid finding your account. Imagine them thinking of it before raising their hand. Realize you could be doing real harm.

So... this coming school year, the USDA threshold for a family of four for free / reduced price lunch is $47,638. In many districts, the teacher salary scale starts under that line. That has to impact our ability to recruit a diverse, dynamic teaching faculty nationwide. #NPC19

It's possible to be really worried about in-person teaching in a pandemic, frustrated by any number of issues facing educators, and absolutely thrilled to be back with the kids all at the same time... *and* The cognitive dissonance that can cause is real. Be safe, everyone.

I wonder if we'd see such a need for educators to focus on self-care right now if more schools administrators understood the difference between 'care about' and 'care for.' If teachers are to take care of kids, we have to take care of teachers - especially in times of crisis.
