I saw a tweet the other day, that could only have been about me. I was being made fun of.
Momentarily, it felt like being back at school. but then it passed. As an artist & relational activist, I won’t stop posting photos of trees (here also, with a sunset), or, campaigning.
This is a bit of a heartfelt message,hope it can be heard.

I’m a relational,integrative therapist,&super proud to be one.I have 12 years clinical experience,& get this - 7070 client hours 😃☺️ .
Every week, I shut the door to my consulting room&sit with clients. This is therapy on the ground - this is what matters 🙏

@HLeeHurley
This is what people fail to get. You can’t say you stand for something, or pretend to be sad when someone is hurt, if the way you behave in your everyday life is a catalyst of that very same hate.
This is my HOLIDAY smile 😃🙏
#TherapistsConnect
, I’m having a well-deserved 3 week break. Hope other private practitioners out there are taking whatever time off that they need. Here’s to the amazing&important work we do as therapists 👍🎉
@JuliaHB1
Because they’re going to grow up in a world full of LGBTQ+ people - it’s a celebration of the diversity and acceptance of people. Also because one day, when 1 of those kids realises they are gay, they’ll look back & remember that day, and it will prob help them accept themselves.
I haven’t seen my mum since the Autumn, and she’s here! She was nervous about coming up, but made it 🙏 . Happy 😊🥰

Very important question
#TherapistsConnect
- I’m 40 and I still love opening conkers, and searching for shiny new ones on the ground. That’s okay isn’t it?! 😃
Many years ago, I trained as a therapist(in 2 modalities),because it had changed my own life at a time of great need.The sense of peace&artistry when someone truly cares via the magic of the therapeutic relationship can NEVER be represented in columns.
#SCoPEd
#TherapistsConnect
Psychotherapy is an art. It weaves together the life&existence of a person (with all their pain,&more),with musings,theory,reflective expression,on what it means to be human.The work is interdisciplinary in nature;relational, &mirrors humanity,in it’s fluidity
#TherapistsConnect
Today I sat for a long time on Clapham Common, just looking out to the ponds, appreciating the hustle and bustle of nature, just doing its thing.
Today, I am enough, as I am.
#TherapistsConnect
@rb_mind
Hi Richmond Mind,this really is an unacceptable poster to put out. Promoting an implied idea, that a service users’ experience is somehow enhanced, because a therapist is unpaid - this has absolutely no ethical backing.
I love my job, and I’ll always remain an ethical and dedicated practitioner. But, I’m truly worried for my profession. Very sad and very worried.
How can therapists be supported,when things above are crumbling?
This isn’t a joke, & clients deserve better.
#TherapistsConnect
A shortage of paid jobs in our profession, means a big percentage of us work in private practice.And…we have been largely holding the mental health crisis this year. Join us in a space designed for mutual support and connection between private practitioners.
#TherapistsConnect
Today is a mixed day. But here I am in my consulting room for the first time since lockdown carrying out a risk assessment. Remembering why I love my job, and feeling grateful for this wonderful chair that ‘supports’ and holds me in all my work (well when I’m here anyway...)
Curiosity and openness is not just a ‘learnt skill’ for the therapy room, but a way of being. Infusing the room; the relationship; the work; with a non judgemental reflective stance, creates the conditions of freedom, for people to express, and explore themselves.
So… those of you who have known me for a few years on here, will know that I *had* a favourite tree👇😳😱 . I’ve loved this tree for so long,&photographed it probably over 100 times, as it changed through the seasons. As with everything,there’s always an end.
Thank you tree 🙏
You can have the best education,years of experience,the most brilliant, supportive supervisors,but your greatest source of learning is sitting right in front of you,in your room. Listen to your clients in every which way;they will give you wisdom above all else

Ladies and gentlemen (and everyone in-between), Covid has come for a visit 😩
I’m bored at home, so attempted a smiley photo to cheer myself up, but I’m so tired, photo 2 is actually the correct representation.
Send well wishes and soup my way! 🍲

I became a therapist because I believed in the power of healing through relationship. Learning how to be in relationship; learning how to honour yourself whilst in community; learning how to be, outside of ego. And I still believe in that - both inside and outside the room 🌟 🙏
@ML_Philosophy
That being innocent&naive,and believing in the general good of humanity(not withstanding general human infallibility/mistakes etc),is a two sided coin. Perhaps some people view it as a good quality, but in this harsh world, unfortunately, you can sometimes get swallowed up whole.
As a therapist who follows
@DrJessTaylor
,I have over recent days seen the level of some of this disgusting abuse (prior to her being hacked). Frankly,I am flabbergasted.
I hope this is treated as what it is-misogynistic & homophobic aggravated crime.
Today I lit candles in my new room, & it felt like I’d been here forever. I was in the last place for 9 years and perhaps imagined that I’d never leave, & yet the impact of this change is truly profound.
Feeling inspired, rejuvenated & thankful for my life 🙏

Finally.....BACP has a contract template😊👍🙌 - have pushed for this for a long time (along with other therapist members of the division). Really happy to be the co-author.

Yesterday was a treat - I timed it right to capture the singing hour of the wild parakeets.They fly from park to park in South London&are particularly chirpy in the twilight hours,before they settle down to sleep.I’ve attached a still here,plus a video. Enjoy!

Just a reminder for me (if anyone is around on twitter today) - who in the community, works solely in private practice I.e full time as main/only job?
#TherapistsConnect
I feel so unbelievably lucky to be doing this work. It’s been many years,but every time I’m sitting in my consulting room just being with other human being,I can’t get my head around how real it is,how humbling it is…Strip away everything else-this is the work

Last photos taken of me in my thirties. ‘Owning’ the Ritz as you do 😂 (posing being just one of the skills I have learnt over my forty years).

That’s it!I’m officially on holiday…😊👍 .I absolutely love my client work,but like everyone,I’m welcoming the needed rest&a break. So,the next 3 weeks will be self-care - a lot of cooking,reading,walking,playing board games &….sleeping 😅
How about you?
#TherapistsConnect
Back to messy hair days…. all must be right with my world!! I am Covid free, and so very happy to be in my consulting room, working with clients. A bit of lunch out, for my ‘in-between’ today.
Happy Wednesday, fellow private practitioners 😊👍🙏
#TherapistsConnect
I’m thinking today of all the clients (generally in therapy),who work hard to make their own lives better, happier, healthier.Some,despite ongoing chaos, addictions,trauma,difficulties,in their families of origin.If you’re that person, I see you & I’m with you.
#TherapistsConnect
I want to take a moment to give a shout-out to Supervisors 👍👏. Today,I saw the one I have been with since the day I qualified(I currently have 2, plus peer group)..we know each other so well&she has held&supported me amazingly through my work&also life - just 🙏

Thank you so much for 4 years of support, sharing, conversation, creativity and fun.And just think…. we’ve actually survived Twitter/X all this time - that in itself is an achievement! 😂
Much love all, Caz
Today, for the first time,I got to see the Covid memorial wall, which runs from St. Thomas’ hospital by Westminster Bridge, for a huge stretch along the river bank. Completely moved. So many lives lost, and changed,by this pandemic.Let us not forget - human beings lives matter.
1/ I’ve decided to walk away from any activism concerning membership bodies. It is clear that so many of these MBs will not (or do not know how to), properly listen,& too much of my life has already been affected by it.I want to move forward positively,giving my energy&dedication
Isn’t it funny how therapists spend their lives working with clients on their self-worth - talking about boundaries, & owning, their attributes, characteristics & skills. But in our profession, we are scrabbling about trying to convince MBs of our worth

The first draft is in!! 🎉 🙌.The work I’ve put in has been the culmination of years of research,expertise,writing (&donation of free time)on the subject of private practice.I think is a nice ending…So many feelings, but hey, it’s Sat morning&I’m celebrating!
#TherapistsConnect
If someone told you that toxic work culture - where you are expected to be ‘on it’ non-stop, and doesn’t give you space for your own needs as a human being, your health, or your self-worth, is the norm….. someone lied.
This consulting room was made for…….
my clients. However they wish to use it; however they view it; whatever it needs to be for them.
(And also, for just a *little bit* of music in my breaks in-between)
Wishing

After a tough week, it was so nice to have the lovely Bill

Beautiful time 😊🙏
Who is else here is looking forward to the day when twitter/our community is swamped with us all on posting photos of us hugging our nearest and dearest. I can’t wait for that day.

Okay, there are a few things that form a kind of ‘therapy’, for me, & playing music has historically been part of that. I’ve been pretty disconnected from it more recently (aside from playing 1 of my acoustics a little). SO… they are dusted&tuned, which one shall I start with?!
I welcomed this new day,by meeting a dear friend. We walked & sat in the sunshine, & just talked and talked and talked.We talked about the importance of honouring space and happiness for ourselves, esp as helpers.
Don’t try & do it alone folks, friends matter
#TherapistsConnect

👍 . Hi all, I’m Caz - an Integrative, and, Mindulness Therapist. I run a full Private Practice in London, mostly with working with ‘Anxiety’, self-esteem issues, and Bereavement. I am also currently,a Supervisor+an Executive on the BACP PP division.
This is me - Caz.Not Caz, ‘TC co-lead’;not Caz visualised&created a project w/BACP;not Caz,helps others with their causes;not Caz,”rebel” against SCoPEd, but Caz, the individual - intelligent,passionate,sensitive, clumsy,vulnerable, & ,strong person. Breathe, it’s just me✊🙏💪❤️
Just had my final supervision session before my holiday. My supervisors aren't on twitter,but putting out to the universe my sincere thanks&appreciation for them.Both have been by my side through thick&thin - professional and personal. Words don't cover it💜🌟🙏

Positive campaigning by counsellors has led to the BBC news&the Guardian newspaper changing their wording 👍 .
Helpline work is vital&imp-all power to him&others who do it,but,it is not therapy.Great to see so many of us stand together on this for the respect of our profession 😊
@Nic_Nac_Ola
@guardian
Thank you
@guardian
for changing the wording in your article. It would also be helpful to tell readers how to find a

registered counsellor if they need to. There are several counselling/psychotherapy accredited registers to look at.
For the love of our profession; for therapists; for those who work hard in our industry,&for clients,now is the time. We all know the open secret(some of us,for a long time). Let’s stand solidly together,against bullying and reprisal.
Solidarity, folks ✊🤝🙏

Working full time as a therapist in a pandemic isn’t a small thing.Part.when there’s all kinds of feared changes going on in your profession(UK),+a known sense of isolation in private practice.Wondering about people’s experiences..where do you find yourself now?

@jeremybrier
Just saw on the news about fights in theatres! I have a theory that the pandemic & lockdowns have impacted us in ways that have not been discussed nearly enough - including, how people interact in social arenas & public group settings. Certainly bizarre and worrying.
