Something
@adilray
said at the Asian media awards last night really made me and
@NaziaMogra
think.
“Send the elevator back down”
In other words, as you move up in life, do what you can to bring others up with you. A good philosophy to live by.
Yesterday, I dropped a tenner which a gust of wind carried underneath a huge security fence outside a bank (which had closed). A young lad runs over, scales the 10 ft fence and hands me my £10. I was so overwhelmed I told him he could keep it.
My dear friend Fiona Steggles was training to be a blue badge guide in Cumbria before she died last month. Today, at the celebration of her life at
@YHAAmbleside
we were told she’ll be posthumously awarded an honorary Blue Badge.
How lovely is that 💙

The meeting rooms at the BBC in Salford are named after programmes or people. This is the North West Tonight room with titles from years gone by. I remember them all 🤓

We have some very sad news this morning, our colleague and friend Dianne Oxberry has died after a short illness.
Our thoughts are with her family and friends.
.
@BBCNWT
is 27 minutes and 45 seconds long. Jane times it and has to count backwards/adds/subtracts seconds when items over run or come in light. A great skill. She’s one of my besties. Tonight was her final programme. ❤️
The famous coat worn by Labour leader Michael Foot at the Cenotaph for the 1981 Remembrance Sunday service. The press had a go at him, calling it a ‘donkey jacket’ - it was actually bought from Harrods. It’s in the People’s History Museum, Manchester.
Miran lost his dad in a landmine explosion last year. He saw my dad’s
@LFC
cap, said he loves Van Dijk and Salah. With my dad dying in July, it just felt right to give Miran the cap. Dad would have loved it

We have lost another very fine BBC colleague. Jonathan Ali, or Jali as we called him, was a Bury lad. Passionate about his work and an expert on military history. When I was presenting
@BBCNWT
breakfast he would greet me every day with “Morning Clowe!” ❤️
What awful, shocking news. Tony Morris was once a colleague of ours at
@BBCNWT
and many of us knew him.
My thoughts are with Tony’s beautiful family and the team

My dad, David Lowe: 1940-2019. Here he is, bottom right, on the Kop in 1964.
Thank you to
@NWAmbulance
& the army of people who’ve helped my family. ❤️

A fond farewell to our engineer of 43 years, Trevor Bishop. He has helped keep
@BBCNWT
on air and used his expert knowledge to broadcast from places when people like me have asked for the impossible. He’s never let me down
Gilly is a local radio broadcasting legend. Tonight is his very last show on
@BBCLancashire
He was at Red Rose Radio when I got my first job as a journalist and our paths later crossed at the BBC. You’ve done Lancashire proud, Gilly and you will be missed
🧵 friends in the US pay $200+ a month for TV. If the BBC goes and others step in, the same will happen here. But with no iplayer, News, Sport, radio, website, regional TV news. On the plus side, you’ll be helping some nob head buy another rocket.
Everyone - guess what? My neighbour Ray has just given me a 44 inch HD 3D smart tv!
His son bought him a new one for Christmas so he’s given me his old (but still very new) telly.
2020, I love you already.
Two talented BBC cameramen leave
@BBCNWT
@cameraben
(left) and Mike Hewitt. I worked with Mike when I first started out, mostly reporting in Liverpool. A good friend and colleague. Their kindness and their skill will be missed.
£2 million raised for
#ChildreninNeed
I had a feeling it’d be a million, but 2? Blown away.
I’ve been making films to TX next week meeting children who benefit from your generosity
I’ve given my 16 yo money to buy clothes for a school trip to the USA next week.
She’s bought 2 bikinis, 2 sets of false eyelashes and some snacks from Poundland.
After 10 hours at work I’ve come home to a house full of teenage girls. They’ve eaten everything, they’re wearing my clothes & turned my hallway into a theatre. And now I’ve got to judge a dance competition. The cat is wondering what the sod is going on.
It’s been a rough week after dad’s death, but the craziness of television news and the support of my ace colleagues on
@BBCNWT
has been just the tonic (with a splash of gin) I needed
Happy 50th birthday
@BBCLancashire
🎂, a great community station and the place where my BBC career began. The second photo is when we broadcast from the eu in Brussels. Look at the terror in those eyes 😁
The first radio station I read the news from - Red Rose Radio in Preston. Where I made Fish from Marllion a cup of tea (true story) Last night I joined colleagues past and present to say goodbye to the iconic building before it closes for good. Sad.
We say goodbye to our boss of many years today.
@michellemayman
is leaving us for pastures new in Australia. Here she is watching her last
@BBCNWT
as Editor
The 15 year old has asked if she and her mate can get the train to Paris to meet a boy from Snapchat.
They’ll only be gone a day so it’s totes fine and they’re going to a nail bar in London on route and it’s no big deal and Nikola’s mum will defo say yes.
Got a ‘don’t come back yet’ text from my daughter. So naturally I came back straight away. Teenage boys are in my living room with her mates. ‘Don’t embarrass me mum. Stay in the kitchen’. So I’m making a crumble before getting the baby photos out.
Our
@BBCNWT
garden at
#RHSTatton
is getting lots of interest and everyone is telling us how much they loved Dianne Oxberry. Come and say hello!
@TrustDianne
Today I’ve eaten my body weight in chicken pie, found a bag of rocks and a big bag of coffee under my desk, discovered all the work Christmas treats are gone & took selfies in the toilet in which I thought I was smiling but look like am planning a murder
@SteveDoherty1
I was rolled out of a carpet Arabian style for a news piece to camera on
@BBCNWT
about a carpet business exporting to Saudi.
I lay there at a jaunty angle and said ‘what the crown prince wants, the crown prince gets’
Really massive bollocking.
Another
@BBCNWT
colleague leaves us today - this time it’s one of our producers, Dave Jackson. We are all so sad to see him go -as you can see, we spend a lot of time looking at our phones. You’ll be sorely missed Jacko.
Julie has had an illustrious career at the BBC and fortunately for all of us
@BBCNWT
, she’s been one of our directors for many years. She directed my Children in Need OB in Chester and lived to tell the tale 😁
Goodbye to a very fine colleague.
My final piece for a while is on
@BBCNWT
this evening. It’s about the work of the
@NWPoliceDivers
I’ll be

Education producer for a few months from Monday 😁
Morning all.
If you've ever been on a BBC show (radio or TV) you can find it listed here. It has every BBC programme documented in the Radio Times from 1922 onwards inc. links to the shows (if they were recorded & still exist)
I’ve been telling my daughter about self care. Getting enough sleep, bit of exercise, less time on her phone, eating well. etc.
She sent me this on her way home from college
Has anyone else had one of these antibody tests for covid19? Childish I know, but I can’t bring myself to prick my thumb. Now if they’d enclosed a sticker and a lollipop for being a brave girl I’d have done it straight away.
Good morning Twitter. I greet you with a bleary eyed smile and a blank sheet of paper en route to the BBC in London for this year’s Children In Need show meeting
My 16 year old just asked me how to use the dishwasher. Her friend who’s staying over offered to show her. I went into the kitchen to find them both pressing buttons on the washing machine
I don’t think I’ve ever been as proud to be involved in a programme as this evening’s special edition of North West Tonight. Tales of ordinary people in an extraordinary time. It’ll be on IPlayer shortly. ❤️

What a beautiful day in the mountains of Northern Iraq. We’re filming a team preparing to clear land mines dating back to the Iran Iraq war. Chico-Amigo, Quewa & Irmi will be using their little doggy noses to sniff out explosives

Good evening from the skies above the Tigris River. We’ve been travelling for 24 hours now and I’m dreaming of a shower, a bed - and a repeat of the best breakfast I’ve ever had during our stop over in Doha.

Dear Twitter followers, your mission should you choose to accept it, is to find me a looky likey of Dua Lipa’s dad so I can live happily ever after.
Yours in anticipation, Carol A Lowe.

A man on the train wearing a leather trilby is telling a couple to get off their phones & start talking to each other. He also shared with the carriage how he can’t bend down or have sex. I’m praying to the sweet baby Jesus that he doesn’t talk to me.
A lifelong fan who took me to reserve games in the Kop as a kid How I wish Dad was still here to see this.
Utterly bloody brilliant.
Thank you Mr Klopp ❤️

There’s never been a day I’ve worn this hat to work that our

Newsgathering Editor Jim hasn’t tried it on and told me how it makes him look like an Irish scrap metal dealer.
I’m in the dog house, Twitter.
Just phoned the teenager who’s with her mates.
“I’ve got you a large pack of those big granny type knickers you like from M&S”
She had me on speakerphone 🤭
I’ve just nodded off while sat in a sunny spot in the work canteen. I only woke when I heard one of the staff say “think she’s fallen asleep. Shall we wake her up?”
My new earrings have arrived 😁They’re from
