I shed many tears while typing up these heart-wrenching text messages sent and received by UNC students yesterday. Our campus was on lockdown for more than three hours.
Beyond proud of this cover and the team behind it.
It's a tough day to be a UNC student. Thank you to those who reached out expressing concern.
Sadness, grief, disappointment, anger -- there are so many emotions running through our community. I'm sending love, support and healing to everyone touched by yesterday's tragedy.
one of my favorite sounds ever is the sound of a crisp new newspaper being read over breakfast for an hour or so… The popping out of it, the folding, the scribbling on the crossword… I hope it never goes out of fashion in our digital world. It is too romantic. 🗞️♥️
It takes a village to keep a community safe -- and informed. It's bigger than just the reporting we are doing at
@dailytarheel
.
Thank you to those who shared your story with me, and to those who sent in photos/videos. DMs are always open, even if it's just to listen and support.

Bad faith opinion pieces are simply poor journalism. Op-ed editors have a responsibility to represent a diversity of good faith opinions, not just take both sides of an argument at face value.
