Damn, Hunter x Hunter is really full of lost childhoods. Mito raised a child by the age of 13. Kite was lucky to meet Ging. Killua was tortured. Gon endangered himself for some love and admiration, and could never stop to expose himself to physical pain as self punishment for it.

I think that what hurts me in the hospital scene is that Killua is basically venting "you don't love me, do you? i'm not useful... but it doesn't matter, i'll give you everything again" and HE DOES it. He leaves Gon with his whole life back and doesn't ask his question in return.

The artistical usage of Killua's shining eyes is to bring a sad but soothing expression, emphasizing how pure and good his feelings for Gon are. When he's looking at Gon he mostly hides his eyes... probably because they are shining, forcing a contrast with the assassin mode look.

These two scenes are almost identical. In between, Gon and Killua didn't talk despite meeting again, giving us this "intermission" feeling. Later, it is like they've resumed on spot, but Gon can't lie out of anger anymore. He turns around. Deep down, he always craved for support.

I love how Killua came up with Godspeed and was devoted to use it to push Gon forward. The word Godspeed, meaning "may you prosper", is curious. May Gon prosper. He genuinely cares about Gon's happiness, no matter if he has to prove himself as he's afraid of being unwanted.

I admire Killua's loyalty so much because no matter how hurt he was, he'd never let others think bad of Gon... it's always "that was the plan all along", "im fine", "im kidding!". And didn't even let Gon think bad of himself by making something to thank for out of what happened.

I just know that Killua is canonically traumatized by the countless times he almost died alone while trying to support Gon, avoiding to get Gon closer to his fears and feelings, and that he cries to Alluka a LOT about what happened and feeling rejected and Gon in general
