This morning, it was fact that Trump would do well on election night and Biden would win when votes were counted.
This evening, those facts still hold but none of the pundits are talking about it and Democrats are already black out drunk/throwing up chardonnay/craft cocktails.
The success of this cycle was made possible with the leadership of
@EricHolder
and the amazing stewardship of
@kellycward
— this video is a pretty fun celebration of just that.
I know this isn't a popular opinion but watching Trump and then watching Biden, was probably better than a debate in seeing just that contrast. The temperature going down, the rational thoughts, the notion that we could actually have an adult in that job.
@MeredithFrost
That steely eyed glare at the end is the same look Buzz gave
@jonlovett
when he called him the Barbara Streisand of space one day at the White House.
The Chris Wallace interview is making me start to think that it is not a sound strategy for President Trump to stake his reelection argument on his own cognitive abilities.
Rick Caruso has been a pro-life Republican his whole career until he decided to run for mayor. So much so that Donald Trump appointed him to his economic team.
He has no business being the mayor of one of the greatest cities in the world. Los Angeles can do so much better.
Is no one on tv going to note how f’ing weird it is to see an opera singer perform Ave Maria while the Trumps watch and the crowd waits, to close out this convention?
I miss President Obama. Stevie Wonder was so much cooler at every turn.
This is the worst I’ve ever seen Trump.
I watch all of his speeches — saw him ramble in Waco, watched him amble in his “announcement” to run again — this is the very worst of it.
Puffy face, bloodshot eyes, his precious hair a mess. And his cadence just plain sad.

What
@PressSec
doesn't get is that when she comes out to that podium, she is speaking on behalf of the United States of America, not just Donald Trump. The abuses of that concept are getting worse every day.
@megynkelly
Is there a mental health crisis in the US? Yes. Is murder exacerbated by the fact that the mentally ill have ready access to guns that they are using to slaughter Americans every day? Also yes. Consider working on not allowing guns in the hands of just any person who wants one.
Awful. And let’s not lose track of just how far discourse has shifted in a few short years. Even a very short time ago, no one would go on even Fox and say the lives of any kids are less valuable because they’re not from Idaho.
Trump has decimated American moral leadership.
.
@foxandfriends
: "...these aren't our kids. Show them compassion, but it's not like he is doing this to the people of Idaho or Texas.”
As Hillary Clinton said, “There is no such thing as other people’s children.”
A methodical strategy to effectively go through the courts to successfully fight for fair maps isn’t “luck,” it’s Republicans finding themselves on the business end of
@EricHolder
and
@marceelias
’s baseball bats. Having a plan and executing it, is not luck.
It's easy to forget that what these folks did at the Lincoln Project was not easy. As Republicans, current and former, they put together a group against the incumbent Republican president - in the best of times that's hard, but in these times, it was an act of real patriotism.
I’ve watched Tucker Carlson/ Sean Hannity every night for months. It hasn’t been pleasant. But what I can share about this evening’s shows, is that there is not a scintilla of evidence offered for their claims. Literally nothing more than annoyance w Jake tapper & Wolf Blitzer.
It should not be under appreciated what a hard job Biden had tonight. In the face of relentless lies and bullying, he still got his point across. It was messy all the way through, but Biden did some hard work on our behalf.
@Olivianuzzi
One suggests that America doesn’t need to be better than it was, one commits to making it better. It’s profoundly different — particularly to people of color.
I suppose the election will let us know which one is more effective.
I can’t stop thinking about
@CoryBooker
’s exchange with Dr. Ford when he asked her how she felt. And then she said “I just wish I could be more helpful.”
Her core decency was the only good thing about today.
It's late, probably so few people will see this, but I had to get it out. YOU HAVE GOT TO WATCH QUEEN ARETHA FRANKLIN SURPRISING
@EricHolder
AT HIS FAREWELL CEREMONY. It is awesome. (h/t my queen,

It’s too easy for too many Democrats to dismiss the words of these Republicans and the Never Trump Republicans - but they all do this at their own peril.
They should be commended for saying something when so many will say nothing.
In the profound and abject failures of this president, it is easy to lose sight of the nuts and bolts of how bad he is at campaigning - but I urge you to take note of how terrible this story is for the candidate incumbent trying to make gains on this day.
The thing that betrays the dishonesty of this defense of the president calling on the Proud Boys to “stand by,” is the fact that his very next sentence is: “Somebody’s got to do something about Antifa and the left.”
The quasi-intellectual gymnastics do not deny that clear fact.
The facts (see the transcript):
1. Trump said "sure" (twice) when asked to condemn white supremacists.
2. Wallace introduced the "stand" language.
3. Biden brought up the "Proud Boys."
4. Biden then refused to condemn Antifa.
"Entitlement" -Mazie Hirono
That's the most important word said this afternoon. And his temperament is the expression of what happens when entitlement is threatened.
@markknoller
The smug indifference that comes across in this photo is really something. Combine that with the royal strangeness of people holding umbrellas for her gives the perfect image of this administration.
Shoutout to my wife
@kellycward
and her boss
@EricHolder
who have been saying — FOR YEARS — that if the maps are fair, Democrats will win.
So much of the good feelings you have tonight are because of the work at
@DemRedistrict
Tim Scott gave an unapologetic case for the abject dishonesty of the Trump era.
He could be such a leader for bipartisan solutions but is instead stuck in Trump lies.
This piece brutalizes Tom McClintock and Kevin McCarthy for their failure of moral leadership and acceptance of the likes of Dinesh D'Souza into our state. Definitely worth the read. (cc

There was a failure across the political universe when it came to polling. There was not a serious person in the country who predicted these results in the House, the Senate or even the president outperforming his 2016 tally by millions of votes.
Both Sean Hannity and Tucker Carlson effectively conceded tonight, moving on to discuss what a Biden presidency is going to look like.
It’s not insignificant.
This definitely vindicates the president. He could have saved tens of thousands of American lives but refused to get owned by a potential Democratic talking point.
Check. Mate.
@jaketapper
Good morning. I would note, however, that it's less Republican than PA-18 (which Democrat Conor Lamb just won), and far less Republican than a slew of state legislative races we've just won.
The idiocy of team trump knows no bounds. In a different America than the one he desires, people look out for others by wearing masks - as Joe Biden is doing on behalf of the video crew and staff around him.
Shouldn’t be surprised that this idea is so foreign to them - Yet I am.
If you’re wondering what the news would like in a totalitarian country, country this it. This exonerates Stone, even elevates his career and offers not a lick of criticism for the commutation.
I’m generally not one for profanity on this website but this piece is fucking crazy.

Take a look:
You got covid and took an ICU bed that could have gone to someone who was sick for reasons outside of their control. Yet, as a reporter at the Christian Broadcasting Network, you mock vaccination.
You unnecessarily put others in harm’s way. You should encourage others not to.
Good luck to Rick Caruso riding his Kim Kardashian and Kid Rock endorsements into a runoff for LA mayor with an actual Democrat in Karen Bass. I presume the Trump endorsement is only just around the corner.
(I’m only saying good luck facetiously.)

Yes. But it was never to clean up a mess and then make a worse mess, and then make it even worse, and then just confuse everyone. Not once.
I know you’re thinking “full written testimony” isn’t for me... but this is excellent and this is the fight of this moment. Get in on

I didn't really expect the Christian Broadcasting Network coming down against an investigation into the 1/6 insurrection & the reporters who exposed Richard Nixon.
And should be noted that
@carlbernstein
and
@realBobWoodward
crushed it on their investigation of Watergate.
Liz Cheney serving on the January 6th Select Committee is like asking Woodward and Bernstein to serve on a Select Committee to investigate Watergate. This is such a POLITICAL BOGUS NON-SERIOUS SET UP.
