For 249 parkruns I have been guided using a tether. But today for my 250th #parkrun @Southportpkrun I ran untethered & it felt amazing! With the help of 4 #guiderunners who kept me safe and gave me verbal cues to get round I finished in 26:57 #Blind #BlindRunner #LoveParkrun

Imagine if all photos you saw on Twitter looked like this? You’d feel like you were missing out, wouldn’t you? I’m blind & this is what I see. But YOU can change this by simply hitting the ALT (alternative text) button & adding an image description. It’s that easy!

I ‘love’ how kids just ask questions… I’ve just had a lovely conversation with a little girl on the train who wanted to know all about my pink cane. I explained that it helps me to see what’s in front of me as my eyes don’t work. She told me she thought it was magical ♥️

As I walked through the park before I overheard a little girl saying ‘Daddy why has that girl got a pink stick?’ He simply replied ‘because it helps her to see’. A lovely response & so much better than the uaual ‘be quiet’ from parents. Asking questions is how kids learn.

Second session of blind baseball (I’ve got a lot to learn yet…) but, here’s a small snapshot of how it’s played. It’s all about following sound in the ball & at each base. And it’s GREAT to have the chance to run independently instead of being tethered to a guide.

Turned up to a work meeting today, cane in hand. The person I’m meeting with asks me ‘do you drive Kelly?’ As I sweep my cane across the floor to check for obstacles I reply ‘no, I’m blind. Hence the cane I am using’ I really do wonder sometimes! 🤣 #blind #vi

Going into lockdown was ‘so’ hard...but going back to normality is even more difficult. Anyone else with me on this?

Hi @RNIB I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to your Legal Rights Service, they have been truly ‘amazing’ in helping me with an accessibility/discrimination case. I couldn’t have done it on my own. Thank you!

I distinctly remember saying that I’d never run another marathon - as they are just ‘so’ hard. A girl can change her mind right? This September I’ll be running Berlin Marathon for @YLvsCancer Please help if you can 👇 #Blind #BlindRunner #Fundraising

Great to try out some new #blind #vi sports at the ‘Let’s Get Active’ day in Liverpool today! Particularly enjoyed #tennis & #baseball @SLCouncils #MakeSportAccessible In this video I’m having my first go at tennis, using the sound in the ball to locate it.

Lovely morning @Southportpkrun thanks to @DocRunner1 for being my guide runner And great to see @DavidParfett01 complete his 2nd #parkrun with Mike If you’ve never done it before why not consider having a go at ‘VI guide’ volunteering at your local parkrun? #Blind #GuideRunner

This week is #NationalBrailleWeek & these six amazing dots make such a difference in so many areas of my life… From reading, playing board games, to identifying household products & enabling me to do my job. And that’s why #braille is so important, it brings about independence
