If you’ve ever been around middle class suburban white ppl you’d know it’s easy for them to get married not just bc of the lack of emotional trauma and financial stress but also bc they don’t marry based on ideologies or shared interests. They barely have a sense of self and

Finding out Guadagnino apparently doesn’t like tennis and thinks it’s boring like Scorsese with boxing…is that the secret to making a good sports movie?
NO THEY DIDN’T!!! SHE WON AN OSCAR FOR IT!!! FOR 30 YEARS NOW ALL OF AMERICA HAS SAID “I LOVED HER IN MY COUSIN VINNY” WHEN THEY SEE MARISA TOMEI IN SOMETHING!!! I FEEL LIKE I’M TAKING CRAZY PILLS!!!!!
Citizen Kane, I’m Not There, and Raging Bull would never have gotten made under these circumstances, I’m sorry. Oversight by the people depicted almost never goes well and usually leads to less interesting art.
OFFICER HIT: Video obtained by KTLA appears to show the moment a Los Angeles Police Department cruiser rushing to the end of a stolen vehicle pursuit in Sun Valley strikes a fellow officer running across the street. Full video & details:
being coworkers is such an intimate bond lowkey like we both have to deal with these man-made horrors beyond comprehension on a daily basis we kinda locked tf in
After THEY LIVE, John Carpenter wanted to make SHADOW COMPANY about a platoon of reanimated soldiers who died in Vietnam and bring the war home to a military base/small town. The studio did not want to make an angry anti-war horror movie.

The woke mob doesn’t want you to gather 10 of your closest friends and rob the Bellagio, the Mirage, and the MGM Grand, making a clean getaway with the loot and reuniting with ex-wife Julia Roberts.

@coopercooperco
It’s insane. Even in his other well-received “serious roles” he either feels just a little off or there’s a bit where they cave and let him do shtick, but nope, no notes here.
The man did all the visual effects for FFC’s Dracula adaptation at age 24 after the first veteran VFX supervisor left the project because he deemed the effects Coppola wanted too impossible to accomplish, let’s show a little more respect out there, fellas.
roman coppola’s career is so sad to me. imagine your dad is the guy who made the godfather and apocalypse now and your credits are: riding wes anderson’s coattails, directorial feature no one watched, directorial feature no one likes, and president of a company with no money
@BenShh1
De Niro says he didn’t do much beyond being basically aware there was a movie based on his memoir iirc, which led to him asking his wife “was I really that bad?” when he saw the finished film and she responded “you were worse.”
Paul Schrader running to track down the guy who shot George Wallace after his plan to shoot Nixon didn’t come together and going “hey, is it cool if I do this? I won’t do it if you get mad” c’mon
One thing I did love about Priscilla is that every time it cut to Elvis raising hell with the Memphis Mafia it played like the sloppy steaks bit from I Think You Should Leave.
As someone who’s really soured on people trying to do the Children of Men style long tracking shot, like to the point where I almost wish no one saw Children of Men…the one in Season 1 of True Detective holds the FUCK up.
DIRECTED BY ROBERT BRESSON 📽️ On the Channel 11/1!
The iconoclastic artist stripped cinema to its essence to reveal nothing less than the very soul of his subjects.
THE DEVIL, PROBABLY
DIARY OF A COUNTRY PRIEST
PICKPOCKET
AU HASARD BALTHAZAR
and more!
It drops the ball in the narrative handoff to the kids imo and keeps the film merely good instead of great like it could have been, but this is probably my favorite performance of both Ryan Gosling and Bradley Cooper to date.
A-list casting worked for Dune but it really is something how the LOTR cast not being super known entities to the general public at the time (except for maybe Wood and a couple ringers like Lee and Dourif) worked so specifically well. Whenever I see Viggo I still think “Aragorn.”
Affleck and Hopkins actually great winners and the best of their year’s batch of nominees by far. McConaughey and Leo dumb but kinda make sense bc they were riding the goodwill from a string of good roles. The rest is just inexplicable to me.
This always gets shared like the conclusion you’re supposed to draw is “not a whole lot has changed in that span of time” but idk man a LOT of shit has happened since 2007 lmao.
I’ve felt like I’ve been going insane every time I’ve seen someone call it “cozy” or “life-affirming.” The emotions at play are so much sadder, messier, and unresolvable than that!
The Holdovers is much better than the pleasant tearjerker some of you faux intellectuals made it out to be when you said it was good but had to qualify it as if you'd just seen a well-produced Lifetime movie.
OK I actually understand Cooper directing his own movies even though the results are only fair to middling (imo) if this is the case. He’s a good actor! He should be in their films! When he finally got a PTA, he was the best part of it!
Winslet being 28 at release and already so famous for so long before that she was considered as being cast wildly against type at an age where a lot of actors are still just starting out kind of warps my brain a bit.
