These were my results in 2nd year of med school. I had to resit the IMS module in 1st year and my ‘medic dad’ said to me that people who have to resit IMS drop out of medicine altogether. Well here I am, incoming SFP doctor who just had undiagnosed ADHD👩🏼‍⚕️🩺🎉🎉🎉

@DrEilidhMaria Why are they wiping academic achievements from absolutely every part of becoming a doctor. Fair enough remove the EPM, I understand. Why remove intercalated degrees under the guise of helping the working class? Why now remove any academic merit you get for getting the SFP?

With regards to the new F1 deanery allocations I really do agree with it being randomised for many reasons. One being that our medical school didn’t emphasise the importance of our decile from year 1. Personally I only found out a lot later on which was far too late.

If anything intercalated degrees are the only thing you can do without having contacts. Just need loans/money which is probably easier to get than knowing the right people for better opportunities

Idk why but I’m so risk averse/low in confidence this year with OSCE practise eg practised a station where a 22F collapsed. Clarified she hadn’t eaten/drank yet still wanted to investigate in case it was an ectopic… how do I stop this bc the answer was just ‘vasovagal’

Have a whole month of cardiology placement (which has already been so much fun only on the 2nd day), then have 3 weeks of cardiology for my post finals assistanship then I’ll potentially have 2 more weeks of it before F1 where I’ll have 4 more months of it 🤣

In every other sector there are rewards for doing well eg commission, holidays etc. What do we get? Nothing - everyone is equal it doesn’t matter how many extra qualifications you have nor experience to apply for a research role (/leadership/education)
