I hear two sides not acknowledging the other's main thesis... 1. There is an overall, growing disregard/disdain for education and true subject matter expertise. Why? Creativity + following can validate credibility for a fraction of the cost of a degree, or even make you money.

I love that people are talking about this. You should obviously do your best in school. I've seen 4.0 grads who struggled in business because they couldn't adapt. I've seen 2.5 grads flourish because of the desire to learn and could get along with everyone.

2. The lack of respect for expertise in today's society is a MAJOR danger to any science. A degree is not just some piece of paper, it's a 4-10+ year pursuit of how to learn as your *main* job. How to formulate a hypothesis, test it, form conclusions and *accept peer criticism*
