Today at approximately 3:30 p.m. MT, Nellis Air Force located John Fiske Burg above Lodge Canyon in Zion National Park. He was treated on scene and then transported to St. George for further medical attention.

Fire Management Officials at Zion National Park confirmed at 4:00 pm a fire that was four and a half acres in size was contained. Smoke may be visible from the burn area for the next couple of days. The fire is confirmed to be human caused and is currently under investigation.

The Narrows and Riverside Walk remain closed. Following a flash flood on Friday, August 19, the Zion Search and Rescue Team is continuing to search for a missing person.

Today at 2:30 pm, a 6-month-old puppy was found at near the east entrance inside Zion National Park.

Do not move fawns! If you find a fawn, its mother is likely nearby and will return. Keep your distance and quietly leave the area without disturbing it. Never attempt to feed, touch, or move a wild animal while in Zion. Sick or injured animals should be reported to a park ranger.
FLOOD UPDATE - Modified park operations on June 30 for clean-up activities. Motorists use caution. Expect traffic delays, debris on roads, and potential closures of trails and parking lots as cleanup continues and damage is assessed.

! While higher elevations in the park have already turned shades of gold, red, and brown, leaves along the Scenic Drive in the lower Zion Canyon are just starting to change to a vibrant shade of yellow.
The Angels Landing trail is anticipated to reopen mid to late September! Our trail crew has been working hard to repair the damage. We look forward to reopening the trail.

Health Alert!
A harmful cyanotoxin, resulting from a natural bloom of bacteria, has been confirmed in the North Fork of the Virgin River within Zion National Park. Visitors should avoid submersion. Pets should be kept out of the river.
Angels Landing is known for its reddish-orange sandstone and unique shape. You can achieve this same look without coating yourself in oxidizing iron, just stick to some bright fabrics and supportive undergarments. Throw on some chain accessories, and you’re done!
The line for Angels Landing, which is forming at the Grotto Trailhead, is several hours long. Consider hiking elsewhere or arriving earlier tomorrow.
No parking is currently available in Zion. Park in Springdale or consider trying again after 3:30pm.

Trails conditions: Snowy!
This photo from yesterday shows Riverside Walk covered in 10 inches of snow. It will quickly get packed into a smooth icy surface. Traction devices for your boots are recommended for all hiking this time of year. Stay safe out there!
