Pakistani state’s focus on Khan’s party workers and pro-Khan civil society aims to de-politicise the country's middle class and youth. This demography constitutes a long-term structural challenge to the praetorian nature of the state.
“If Imran Khan returns to power, it would have implications not only for the military leadership, but also for the institution’s symbolic power capital, which it has amassed over decades"

In Pakistan's Gujarat, a whole city mourns 90 members of the community presumed dead in an overloaded boat that sank in open seas off Greece earlier this month.
Arab News meets the grieving families left behind:
The Pakistani premier has visited Saudi Arabia multiple times but this is the first time the Saudi side is giving this much in depth coverage to his personal and political life
And the dg of national accountability bureau who was recently appointed used to be the company commander and regiment mate of the current Pakistan Army Chief !
- Imran Khan was arrested by Rangers, a Paramilitary force being led at that time by an ISI officer.
- The arrest was ordered by DG NAB, a retired Lt Gen of the Army.
- He was taken and kept at an ISI building.
- ISPR is doing all the PR for it.
And they say Army had nothing to
@worqas
army as an institution seems to understand khan and his politics as a structural threat to their institutional power and thus it seems they won't allow him to be back in power. Probably something beyond personal likes and dislikes.
“All attempts by the state apparatus to weaken Khan's support base and reverse the politicisation of Pakistan's urban and rural middle classes have failed”.
Haqqani who was once hounded by the country's military establishment is now endorsing its semi-authoritarianism because he has been roped in again. Not strange for a guy who started his career as the press guy of the infamous General Zia.
“If there is some semi-authoritarian move to curb chaos and to stop anarchy, I think most people will hold their noses and accept that,” says fmr. Pakistani Ambassador to the US

Sadly lot of flaws in this Washington Post piece. At one hand the authors argue that the military and khan did everything together and then they suddenly claim that Khan was going to Russia against wishes of the Army Chief. The Chief only condemned Ukraine invasion after a month
@AmrullahSaleh2
Mate why don't you return to Afghanistan and challenge the Taliban. You didn't fight even a day and ran away leaving your home open for talibs, cant taunt a man who is sitting in his home and country.
Wrote this at end of October 2022 when previous military establishment was about to leave. It seems nothing much has changed and new military establishment is even more averse to Khan but he has nonetheless been able to gain further political momentum
So the pattern how this fake news is built up is also quite interesting. A Twitter account linked with Pakistan opposition tweetsit without any source of news and then it is picked up by other anti-govt accounts and then by Indian-Afghan journos and finally by RT. All credible !
What I find truly bizarre is that Amb Blome accompanied the head of Pakistani military, who has no official civillian position in Pakistan, on his foreign trip??!!
Can anyone tell me when was the last time that happened?

Pakistani PM is here to say owing to a working relationship with military, fragmented opposition and strong recovery from Corona. Pakistan remains the ideal partner for a Global Britain in broader West Asia
So till now no Gulf State, any of Pakistan’s traditional allies and China have commented on the country’s elections. This seems to be related with the legitimacy of the electoral process and its results.

Yes and probably if world powers had tried to bring peace between India and Pakistan this defence expenditure could have been brought down? If world gives India a license to impose its political order then something has to be done. Specially now with the bes fascist govt in India

Hahaha well Modi and Indians are doing the same mistake which Saudis and UAE did by embracing Trump so comprehensively. This will have a political price in the long run !
I may not be a fan of PM Modi Ji. But it is lovely to see him visiting Al-Hakim Mosque in Cairo. 🙏🏼

Ppp knows it has slim chances in Punjab and noon whatever it may do is not coming back in Punjab otherwise so much hardwork won't have been done to create TIP. PPP only wants PM position and the symbolism that comes with it, rest they dont care.

Gulf capitals particularly Riyadh must be watching how US and others are jumping to defend Israel from Iranian attacks as compared to when their strategic assets were targeted by Iran. Perhaps the Gulf capitals want to have this sort of a security relationship with US but US dont
First time Pakistani state's usual apparatus has failed in every episode against Khan. And actually till now khan has not directly challenged them and perhaps still amenable to a settlement.
They "let" him by:
- Kidnapping his aides and torturing them.
- killing a journalist who supported him
- kidnapping and torturing other journalists who supported him
- conducting 2000 raids in a single night in May
- Trying to kill him
- Using all state might against him.

I want to thank Supreme Leader Khamenei, & President Erdogan, for speaking against the oppression & massacre of Muslims in India & Kashmiris in IOJK by the Hindu Supremacist Modi regime.
If the most pro iran intellectual in Pakistan is condemning Iran that can give us an idea how negative is the sentiment towards Iran. And the military which has been strongly repressing domestic dissent now is under pressure to show similar attitude on borders.
Strongly condemn this action by Iran. At a time when Muslim unity is needed against

Did he mention these preferences in his Oxford speech? Everyone is a champion of democracy during their sojourn in UK and back to serving militarafia after returning from the awe inspiring trip.
In a brilliant show of incompetence, cowardice, and disregard for their constitutional as well as human rights obligations, the Pakistani Supreme Court just legalized civillian trials in military courts.
Injustice Qazi Fraud Isa strikes again.
"According to the evidence gathered by Pakistan, the killings were regularly coordinated out of the UAE where Raw established sleeper cells". Did the Pakistan side discuss this in their meetings with Emirati leadership or just discussed personal favours and bail outs.

Basic problem for hafiz saab and pdm is that whenever election happens khan will win and secure at least simple majority and no amount of rigging, adjustments and leveling will change this.
I am starting to wonder who will contest on PMLN's ticket now? This is a massive defection further tilts political field in Faisalabad in PTI's favor ! Clearly shows how Pakistan's political environment is changing

Total silence on Pakistani media. Had this been an Indian/Afghan/American operative, there would have been quite an earthquake. Shows how much influence Iran has within various societal and political domains in Pakistan.

Election in Pakistan and its result is another episode in the saga that started on April 9, 2022 pitching Imran Khan against country’s military establishment. Khan has single handled won every episode in this political conflict and only with the support of Pakistani people.
