Water flowing out of deep reservoirs like Lake Powell is usually cold year-round. When water levels in the reservoir drop, warm surface water gets closer to the openings in the dam that let water through. Watch how #water temperature at these intakes changes w/ water level.

This #dataArt highlights Streamgage 06472000 on the James River in SD that flooded for 534 days straight! Flooding began 4/10/19 & finally stopped 9/30/20.The #dataviz shows how uniquely long that flood was compared to gages with similarly sized watersheds over the last 20 years
