Some people saying Miller should get credit for taking ownership of it. Weak people like that enable the cheats. Don’t give these f****** a pass, whether they own up to it or not

Imagine him telling his mates about this afterwards. They’d never believe it. ‘I was surrounded by these lions and I was like... Let’s have it. And they didn’t want to know.’
They’ve built that arena in Saudi in five weeks. The Esso garage with the new Greggs near me has been a building site for five months and is nowhere near done.

Supposedly Ruiz-Joshua sold 1.6m ppvs in the UK which would add about $25m to the $60m+ site fee they supposedly got from KSA (plus a few million from DAZN who got it at a discount because it wasn't in the US)
10 years ago I was about as close to the brink as you can get while on the eve of starting one of the biggest jobs in British boxing. A horrible period followed and for a while there seemed no way through. It’s taken time, a decade on, but now is the happiest time of my life.
This is what I think of when I think of Marvin Hagler. He was a man who paid his dues, who paid the price and who was a true pro. The boxing landscape is a far bleaker place this morning. I can’t believe it. RIP

When
#fury
hit the deck the second time I recalled him telling me in the
#roadtoredemption
interview that as long as he could open his eyes he would get up. He opened them and I thought there was no chance. Then he got up

All ready for our appearance in The Sun. Seriously, if you have a problem with a daddy and his daughter showing one another love you’re part of the problem.
Damage arrived in the post today. I have no idea how it’ll be received but if four years of work, 10,000 miles of travel and 100 interviews helps one boxer or one family it will be worth it.
Anyone who profited from that last night should feel disgusted today. If you lined their pockets, carried their advertisements, were in the camps, enabled it in anyway, I hope you feel great because you’re all part of the problem
#HolyfieldBelfort
Used to talk proudly about staying up for fights in the US… at 4-5am. Now I do it about fights in the UK. I have no idea why we have this fascination of staging main attractions at 11pm. Everyone in my household had given up and gone to bed before the ring walks.
All these American fighters dissing Hearn yet plenty of them are sat on the sidelines with no date and no map of their future, laughing at the little Englanders with the billion dollars. It’s just odd.
I’ll sign off today on this… as Twitter is doing my head in. Apologies for caring about the fighters. Apologies for wanting more from the sport. Apologies for wanting more for the boxers.
How to structure a TV night of boxing…
Start at 7pm
2-3 undercard fights
1 main fight
Highlights of earlier bouts to be played in between
Interviews with major players recorded and canned beforehand as none recorded on the night offer anything. Simple, tidy, no wasted time.
Worst thing about the Freddie interview was him implying that Ben is a one-trick pony and only coaches one way. The stuff about wanting Tyson to apply pressure simply shows he doesn’t know as much about Fury as Davison does. Either way, it’s ugly viewing.
Skill for skill, it’s been a while since I’ve seen a fight that’s had that much ability, action, drama and pace through 12 quality rounds. Couldn’t take my eyes off it

That beating that Stiverne took is the sort that can alter your quality of life down the line. I don’t give a f*** what you say about JJ’s defence or that the odd swing kept him in. If you show up out of shape you’re playing with fire

21 years ago the great Matthew Saad Muhammad and I agreed to write his life story. It took a little longer than expected but today it’s finally a promise fulfilled. 1/2
The WBC have just honoured Enzo Calzaghe and given Robert Smith a championship belt to give to Joe in recognition of his father’s contributions to

I like Usyk-Joshua II. I really don't like the Saudi thing. I get trying to maximise revenues but both could still live comfortably for the rest of their days, and so could their children, from the money they could have made elsewhere.
And just to slip this in for next week... one of the best interviews I’ve been privileged to be part of. Joe is still so raw but unflinchingly honest and his memories of his father are beyond special. Very lucky to spend so much time with him today. A friend.
This Whyte thing has been bonkers. Never before have there been so many experts on a specialist subject with so few details out there. The one thing I do know is I’d trust Dr Goodman at VADA with my life if I was a fighter. Frankly, I wish she ran the whole sport.
I’ve started a YouTube channel but no way will I read the comments. I’d rather it tank than makes me feel horrible about myself. I’ve read some horrible stuff over the years, about me, and the people who wrote it won’t give it s*** about how it made me feel, so I won’t let it.
I know Usyk is vastly experienced as an amateur but to stay cool and calm after those first three rounds and make adjustments was simply sensational given his limited time in the pros

Near the start of an incredibly exciting journey... This guy has never been short on heart or excitement. He’s given boxing fans and the media some hugely-memorable nights and moments.
On this day 10 years ago, live changed irreversibly for me. At the time, I thought it was the worst thing that could happen. Turns out it was the best. Bad times don’t last. They really don’t. Merry Christmas everyone.
1,000,000 downloads for the last 52 episodes, since I changed platform hosts. In total Boxing Life Stories has been downloaded more than 3,000,000 times.
Happy for Joe and Tasha but

better deliver after this undercard. Always so frustrating when so many eyes are on the sport that we don’t show it off at its best.
It was great to sit down with Big Julius Francis for a Boxing Life Stories today. One of the longest chats to date and what a character. He either fought, sparred or was linked with just about everyone, from Tyson to Lennox to Foreman!
THE FINAL Boxing Life Stories (for now) is episode
#250
and it’s with the brilliant Joe Calzaghe. It also includes an hour with sponsors Lee and Derek, talking about highs and lows of recording the podcast over the last five years, future plans and more
If you were drug-tested tomorrow, and failed, would you have any idea if it had come from meat you had eaten or not? How would you piece that puzzle together?
Twenty years ago a literary agent said if I was to write Matthew Saad Muhammad’s autobiography we’d need something in writing. So we got something in writing. Unfortunately it didn’t happen when Matthew was still alive but it’s happening! I hope to do him justice.
Lots of deserved plaudits for
@StGeorgeGroves
. Rolled the dice continuously, took gambles, risked loads in the sport of risk, did so while screwing the negativity and the haters and then, typically, walked on his own terms. Mic drop 👏🏽
Really excited for the fights tonight. There’s no sport like this, when you’re going into big nights and you can’t pick a winner in any number of contests. We are continuously spoilt by the men and women we get to watch - who put everything on the line.
Here’s that brilliant exchange between Tyson Fury and Ben Davison at the end of the 3rd round on Saturday, when Tyson looks to his trainer for a bit of reassurance: “I’m boxing well aren’t I?”
#wilderfury
Well, here it is. Myself and

as you’ve never seen us before at 5am... breaking down

Well, 24 hours on from a disaster I’m sort of back in the game. While I left part of my soul in Connecticut the minute I thought I’d lost four hours of recording (since hopefully salvaged), today ended well, going to the home of Teddy Atlas for dinner and recording a pod.
There’s nothing I hate more than people who don’t know about boxing talking about boxing. There’s also nothing I enjoy more than listening to people who don’t know anything about boxing talking about boxing 💁🏼♂️
"Floyd Mayweather will walk away with 300 more million and one big loss. It will be 50-1. Are you willing, Floyd? Do you dare risk getting your a** kicked by Manny Pacquiao?" —

Rest up, Leon. Thoughts are with Brenda, Michael and the family.
Leon is the final chapter in Damage and I’m very happy we got to spend some time together.
What a man! My thoughts are with
@RealJoeCalzaghe
and his family right now, Your Dad was a master coach who created a style that you both made unbeatable. Salute the legendary Enzo.. 😔

I had a dream last night that Callum Smith was fighting Canelo in Anfield. It was packed. Scarves and flags were waving. You’ll never walk alone was deafening. Flares were being let off. There were sombreros with permed wigs inside them... Mental.
Huge year for Boxing Life Stories. Massive thanks to those who have listened and to the guests who have given up their time. I’m grateful on both fronts. More than 4million listens across 202 episodes.
Who is on your list for the podcast in 2023?
Now live with the extraordinary and unique Crawford Ashley. He fought Nelson, Nunn, Virgil Hill, Thompson, Piper, Rocchigiani, Davis and Woods. He also tried to kill himself multiple times in retirement before he found an inner peace. This was absolutely enthralling...
Legendary light-heavyweight champion Matthew Saad Muhammad was my friend. He died seven years ago today and I’m thrilled to be working on a bio about his life for
@PitchPublishing
Serious question about Brendan Ingle… Has any other trainer in history taken so many fighters from being kids, who have never even thrown a punch, to be champions of Britain, Europe and the world?
Fascinating debate. Boxing can and does so much that some people will never understand, no matter how much you tell them. Also, you can be a very active member of a boxing club and community without getting to the level of head sparring, while still getting plenty of benefits.
.
@EddieHearn
and Peter McCabe passionately debate whether boxing brings discipline and ambition or whether it just encourages violence?

To those suffering without loved ones tonight, to those who have lost people, face losing people or think there’s no way out... stay in the fight. It will be worth it. Happy 2020.
There’s so much you can say about this but safe to say he dodged the mother of bullets and it’s beyond outrageous. Slam the people behind it all you want, the structure of the sport allows this BS to happen. Federal/governmental oversight may be boring to some but it’s necessary.
