Today is #WorldMentalHealthDay . Having run school-based mental health services, I know how important these resources are for our kids’ health and academics. California ranks last in the nation in counselors per student. Let’s change that.

He spoke in a Berkeley church on a book tour years ago and shared stories of his experiences, struggles, and achievements. My children, and all of us, were gripped by his words and commanding presence. He was kind, funny, and personable. My children had so many questions. (2/4)

I am horrified by the violence at Tree of Life Synagogue today, a place for faith & family. My heart goes out to the families & victims. Hate has no place in our nation. Today & everyday we must reach out to our neighbors & work together to make our nation a safer place for all.
