I'm so proud that here in Northern Ireland we passed 50% turnout in both @UCU ballots. Vagaries of the trade union laws means NI institutions don't need to get over that figure, but its testament to the positive local campaign run by @UCU_Ulster & @ucuatqub that we did it anyway!

My Granddad, Ken Brown, died yesterday aged 91. A quiet man, he opened up (to my surprise) when I recorded him talking about his life - from war to work to marriage. Here he simply describes childhood games in our hometown, Buxton. Oral history can be such a rewarding experience.
