Awesome capture of a lightning strike in Okaloosa County near exit 70 off of I-10 this evening! It's also a textbook example of how lightning can strike outside of the cloud! When thunder roars, head indoors!

Today the integrity of a great institution,
@NOAA
, was compromised to justify and pander an argument that never needed to happen. To say it's a sad day in the weather communication enterprise would be an understatement. We stand with you

Another reason to SHELTER IN PLACE until flood waters recede. Not only are there downed power lines, but there’s also displaced wildlife. This 10-12 ALLIGATOR was just outside of a house in Gulf Shores on Plash Island earlier this morning.

Now here's something you don't see everyday! A triple (tertiary) rainbow 🌈🌈🌈 spotted this past Sunday in Logan. These come from light reflecting off of water droplets 3 times and are pretty rare! This is so cool and thanks to Alice Stokes for sharing!

Waterspout on Mobile Bay this morning between Fort Morgan and the Dauphin Island bridge. More waterspouts may approach the coast through the day. Continue to remain weather aware. Video from Tyler Loewen.

Downtown Pensacola this morning. Water levels in downtown have been reported of being 3-4 feet with water continuing to rise. Please DO NOT get out in this. Photo from News 5 Photojournalist Dan Kettinger.
Incredible video of the waterspout in south Mobile Bay that prompted the tornado warning in southern Baldwin County earlier today. Video from Michael Robertson.

Such an incredible and welcomed sight! Power crews staging this morning off of HWY 45 in Mobile before heading out to help restore power to those in our area. Thanks to Chris Jessee for sharing.

Meteorology is a lot more than just looking at ONE forecast model. Models are tools, they are not truth. While they have gotten better, there are still processes they can't resolve, especially longer range models. Anything past a handful of days should be met with skepticism.
Check out the scene from Covington County earlier today. Due to how warm it was and how much hail was on the ground, the evaporation led to "hail fog". To say this is rare in July would be an understatement. Thanks to Jack McHenry for sharing.

Debris piling up while high waves crash against the Dauphin Island Causeway as the tide comes in. Coastal flooding of 1-3 ft. is possible. Avoid traveling near coastal roads today and tomorrow.

WOAH. My aunt lives on Cape Cod and sent me this video of the crazy winter storm that is happening up there! Hope everyone stays safe….tons of snow and near hurricane-force wind gusts is not something to mess with.
