Real life update: Kailey weighed 1 lb., 6 oz. at birth, and nearly died more times than I let myself admit. But tonight she’s at volleyball practice with a bunch of other 9-year-olds and loving every second of it. And that’s about as good as it gets.

For months, I’ve been involved in planning and executing no-fan sporting events. Today, I’m finally on the other side of it - not allowed to watch my kid play in person, seeking live streams and accommodations. Strange times. Let’s stay vigilant until the pandemic is truly over.

After nearly 30 years as a Sioux Falls sportswriter a handshake is not going to do it. Today was my last day at the Argus Leader. I have been incredibly blessed in that time with great colleagues. And God bless the 1000s of friends I’ve made while doing a job I loved. ☘️
