The grid already handles the vast majority of this traffic. 794 doesn't drop anyone off directly at their destination, so a majority of these drivers already use the downtown grid at some point. Why not make that entrance point 6th street rather than the lakefront.

People will argue that "that ship has sailed," when it comes to I-794. We would argue that Milwaukee shouldn't fall for the sunk cost fallacy. I-794 is a destructive and underutilized highway. Incremental change is short-sighted. #NoMore794

If you allow me to climb onto my soap box and talk about 3D chess: If 794 is rebuilt with one of the “improvement” options, it still appears to be drastic upgrades vs status quo & that’s in part because of @TearDown794 ’s push. WisDOT was talking about an as is rebuild in 21 1/2

There is still a ton of work to be done. We have to find solutions to the lift bridge crossing the river and how to navigate the street car station, but solutions can be found.

We were told three seperate times on the I-94 project that something was impossible that later become possible (Smaller stadium interchange, Stadium Freeway as a boulevard, transit funding). If WisDOT wants to find a solution, they will find one.

Project Update: Public meetings were supposed to start in Dec. 2022 but are now delayed until summer 2023. We will keep you all informed as soon as we have concrete dates. Hopefully this delay means they are giving the boulevard alternative the attention it deserves.
