“We have reached a point we cannot return from.” In 25 years of broadcasting, I’ve never uttered these words on tv before. I try to stay positive. I report on not just the problem, but the solution. I try to not be alarmist. But with corals, sirens should be blaring.

Tropical Depression Nineteen is expected to become Tropical Storm Sally tonight, then strengthen into a hurricane before making landfall late Monday - Tuesday. The cone of concern includes Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama & the Western Florida Panhandle.

Tropical Depression Nineteen is forecast to enter Southeast Florida at 2am tonight and exit Southwest Florida at 2pm tomorrow. In the Gulf, it could strengthen into Tropical Storm Sally or Teddy very rapidly.
11AM BREAKING NEWS: South Florida has now been completely removed from the cone of concern. There is now 0% chance of landfall in Miami-Dade or Broward counties. Tropical storm winds are still likely today in Broward County.
When my mom died a few weeks ago, I lost my biggest fan, my strongest supporter and my teammate. This Emmy is truly an honor, but it belongs as much to her as to me. Mom, you are loved and missed, but never forgotten.
Why I love Fort Lauderdale: It’s February, we just had a cold front and I’m sitting by the pool. Oh, and there is a palm tree reflecting off my glasses, purely by accident.
Fort Lauderdale’s heat index today was an alarming 118°! Since heat index records at FLL are scant, it’s impossible to say with 100% certainty, but it’s possible that this is the hottest Fort Lauderdale has ever felt in modern times.

BREAKING NEWS: The latest forecast track for Hurricane Isaias has shifted east. Landfall in South Florida is now unlikely. Worst case scenario is landfall in extreme NE Broward County, but Isaias more likely stays offshore. Tropical storm winds (39mph) still possible later today.
I’m in love with this new
@nbc6
weather promo because it features my mom, who passed away in 2019 and the great
@alroker
from my days at
@NBCNews
in New York.
I didn’t know it at the time, but one year ago would be the last birthday with mom. This picture of her (over my right shoulder) in 2019 is so special to me this year.
Whenever I look at this photo from January 2009 when President Bush invited all the former presidents to have lunch with President-elect Obama it seems so foreign.
Like it was photoshopped.
Isaias is a Cat 1 Hurricane; expected to be a Cat 2 over Bahamas tonight. Western track includes Fort Lauderdale landfall, not Miami; brings hurricane conditions Saturday. Center track stays offshore; brings tropical storm conditions. Eastern track keeps significant weather away.
I simply love South Florida when a cold front comes through. Monday was my first beach day in six months. Empty enough that there was no issue social distancing and staying safe.
We celebrated the life of a real-life superhero today. For some reason, this picture of Mr. Lewis and Mr. Obama is my favorite. Two amazing men who clearly loved and respected each other and fought for the rights of every American and every human.
Most of South Florida will be under a Wind Chill Advisory Sunday morning for feels-like temps in the 20s and lower 30s. A Freeze Warning has been issued for Inland Broward County where actual temps could be at or below 32°.

“Florida’s recent span of dangerous heat is clearly connected to human-caused climate change. These conditions will become more common and more intense until we stop burning coal, oil, and natural gas.” Dr. Andrew Pershing, VP Of Science, Climate Central.

After breaking a "warmest low" record this morning, Miami just broke a "warmest high" record this afternoon at 94°. For Miami, that's 6 records in 5 days. For South Florida that's 12 records in 4 days. 2020 so far, 116 records or a record 2 out of every 3 days.

If you live in Broward County and have a mail-in ballot, you can walk it into one of two Supervisor Of Elections offices today and any early voting location starting October 19th. Avoid the crowds. Avoid the mail. Have your vote counted safely and early!

A funnel cloud appears to have touched down as a tornado along Las Olas in Fort Lauderdale. We’ll wait on official confirmation from NWS, but seems pretty clear from the video’s power flashes (not lightning). Courtesy: Tim Price, Fort Lauderdale.

We had our fights. We had our faults. But I could never have asked for a better mom. You were always there. You are loved. You are missed beyond words.
5PM SAT: TS Ian has 45mph winds; will be a hurricane by Monday; a major hurricane by Tuesday. ALL OF SOUTH FLORIDA removed from the Cone Of Concern. Landfall likely between Tampa & the Panhandle. Outer bands of rain and ocassional tropical storm gusts for South Florida.

I got my “big break” exactly 20 years ago when I was hired in Philly. Please excuse the leather jacket. It was before I was a vegan. Also got to hang out with
@StephenAtHome
at The Daily Show’s RNC Convention party a couple months later.
My buddy, Geno said this graphic has a glaring error. He commented that we don't currently have a full moon. While I appreciate his honesty & attention to detail, I reminded him it also doesn't snow in Miami & we must suspend belief for the holiday magic to work in South Florida.
Freeze warnings were in effect when I arrived in Philly. I am leaving wearing shorts and a tshirt. I will likely be sick next week, but hey, check out the great William Penn watching over a stunning sunset!
Happy National Intern Day! I owe my career at

back in 1996 while I was a meteorology and journalism student at Rutgers.

It's lunchtime...On a Sunday...In late March...Two weeks before Easter...And not a soul on the beach in South Florida. Still so strange; so hard to wrap my mind around it. But it's how it has to be. There is no other option. We must be part of the solution.
I’m shocked to say this, but Miami has not cracked 50° all day and the record is 51°. In other words, this is Miami’s coldest Christmas afternoon on record.
