Shoutout to
@NaomiAKlein
, who came on
@TalkEasyPod
despite being sick with a virus. She is truly a fearless reporter and activist in these scary times.
(And yes– she is, thankfully, doing much better now.)
@zeitchikWaPo
Respectfully, you are a reporter with a platform. You should ask those questions privately to the parties with answers; not to Twitter three hours after someone has been killed.
There's like seven movies a year that you need to see in theaters and WILDLIFE is one of them. Every frame is a painting. We worked especially hard on this episode with Paul.
I’ve been attending
@ebertfest
since I was 17. To have a movie I directed playing this festival feels... beyond surreal. Thank you
@ChazEbert
for the boundless generosity.
Had a conversation with Werner Herzog for
@TalkEasyPod
this week.
Some highlights: meeting God as a child, moving to America with nothing but a toothbrush, 20 years of marriage, posterity, and how he's maintained his creative vision for 50+ years.
So this is scary to share (especially in 2018 America)… but here’s the poster for “Sebastian”, the first of a few films I made this year.
It’s my grandfather’s story of emigrating here from Mexico. We'll release it online later this week, before the election.
My grandfather left Mexico for America in the 1940s, working on farms up and down California.
A decade later
@DoloresHuerta
would begin improving the untenable conditions he worked in.
At 90– she's still fighting.
“For every problem that we face we know of solutions. The question is will enough young people find the ability, commitment, and dedication to implement the kinds of solutions we know are possible.”
Noam Chomsky, wise as ever, on this moment of ours.

@SarahKSilverman
And by the way, even if the Police *were* defunded—which they aren’t—this is exactly the kind of call they wouldn’t receive any more.
Admittedly biased, but the ZOLA screening was as fun and vibrant as any I’ve experienced. Love this film and the family that made it. I hope you will, too.

Taking a first stab at my Top Ten of 2018:
1) The Rider
2) The Rider
3) The Rider
4) The Rider
5) The Rider
6) The Rider
7) The Rider
8) The Rider
9) The Rider
10) I guess...Burning?
This is the one that gets me.
Maybe it's because I've been watching too many Nicolas Roeg movies, but the idea that a scene must “explain something”... I'm lost.
@Variety
You can just delete the other tweet now. Also: the headline should include quotations, since 'best and final' are ostensibly the AMPTP's words not yours.
tried listening to
@britmarling
interview but couldn't get passed Sam's voice. went to the web to see why talkradio hosts speak with that "out of breath, barely had the energy to drag themselves out of bed that morning" tone.

@SamFragoso
😴🤔
very nice conversation with Sam Fragoso, a unique interviewer-- really, an inspired conversationalist, who subtly leads the conversation like guiding a goose with a wand so that the goose is scarcely aware of the wand.
Under the wire, my favorite moving images of 2017. So much goodness this year.
1) Phantom Thread
2) Finding Frances
3) Get Out
4) The Florida Project
5) Call Me By Your Name
6) Shadow Play
7) Dina
8) Killing of a Sacred Deer
9) Nocturama
10) Lemon
Hello Los Angeles. I'll be hosting the conversations tomorrow night with Carey Mulligan. She's incredible, WILDLIFE is incredible, and I'm alright so come on out.
3.)
I should have known. ANN will ride again! Always indomitable - Ann Richards was a woman for all seasons, whose voice lifts and inspires us still - again. It is my honor to have one last shot at getting it right and making her laugh like Hell, in Heaven.
Here's what
@TalkEasyPod
will look like this fall. S/O to
@KarolineRibak
for making this happen.
Aside from the entire cast of SUCCESSION, who we missing? (Suggestions are welcome.)
This kind of film would've meant everything to me at 16. First three students (high school/college) that want to see WILDLIFE this weekend but can't afford it, hit me up & I'll Venmo you. DMs are open.
WILDLIFE is in theaters now in LA & NYC. Tickets (& schedule to play other cities) available here: .
Movies like this are hard to get made right now. You can help change that. So: if you see our movie & like it, please tell a friend. Pass it on. 🖤
Under the wire, my favorites from 2022:
All The Beauty And The Bloodshed
Catherine Called Birdy
Confess, Fletch
Decision to Leave
Tár
Saint Omer
The Banshees of Inisherin
The Fabelmans
The Last Movie Stars
Triangle of Sadness
If you only listen to a couple of these a year, make it this one. With Chris Elliott. He’s as honest about depression as anyone I’ve ever talked to, on or off microphone.
I have no idea whether "Sebastian" will alleviate or exacerbate post-election blues, but here it is. Much love to all the friends who helped tell my grandfather's story.
“When you’re a kid older people say, ‘You know, this is all going to whip by and you’re going to be old soon, enjoy.’ I didn’t know I was going to wake up one day and miss my childhood.”

One question I have right off the bat about the Alec Baldwin shooting is the D.P. and director as victims. If it was in context of filming the scene presumably he would have been aiming it at another actor. Unless it wasn’t in the context of filming a scene?
We’re using a platform where people feel more comfortable sharing something they don’t like than something they enjoyed.
Can’t figure out if this is a system failure or human failure.
Just got this amazing delivery from
@searchlightpics
for the premiere of
#Nomadland
tonight. Wish I could tweet the smell in my kitchen because it's awesome.
Saw 'Nomadland' at
#tiff2020
and was incredible. One of the best films of 2020.
In select theaters and
@hulu
tomorrow.
