@GuardianAus
Women forced to flee violent men need safe, stable, long-term housing, not short-term "crisis" shelters.
But for decades, the NSW government has refused to fund long-term housing for these survivors.
They are not a "priority."

Murdoch has billions invested in fossil fuels and so forces his deadbeat hacks to spew out anti global warming and anti renewables propaganda...
@colonelhogans
That "white master" thing is still so huge in Australia - I can never forgive or forget the 60% of Australians who last October voted to keep silencing Indigenous people.
This country is racist to the core...
@theheraldsun
Don't believe the hype. The only poll that counts is on 14 Oct. That's when good and decent Australians will say YES to giving Indigenous people a fair go by saying YES to the Voice.
Please join us...
@sallymcmanus
@Leinster_Lad
I keep seeing the same words pop up in these fake accounts (racism, division, apartheid) + outrageous lies about the Voice.
Please ignore the far right extremists and just say YES...
@AmeliaBee7
@TheBigShip
Murdoch gave up his Australian citizenship in 1985 - so why are we letting a foreign far-right extremist destroy our precious democracy?
Get to know the real Australia - where we brutalise women who dare to speak up against sexual assault ...
"Brittany Higgins taken to hospital after marathon defamation hearing"
@OccupyDemocrats
Republicans banning drag queens from reading fairy tales to children while at work these very same Republicans expose their junk to shocked colleagues.
Talk about hypocrisy!
Imagine telling a gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender teenager that they will burn forever in hell if they do not "straighten up"
That's child abuse - but perfectly legal under Pentecostal Morrison's religious privilege law...
@blakandblack
7x racist cookers have (jealously) commented on Linda Burney's brand laden clothes and accessories. As if an Indigenous woman can't frock up!
Talk about damned if you do, damned if you don't!
@blakandblack
The Voice was never about us white folk. It would have had zero impact on our day-to-day lives.
What the Voice should have been was a statement of solidarity for and with Indigenous people.
But we blew it...
@JulieMcCrossin
NSW Police need to attend to their deeply entrenched culture of homophobia and transphobia. And while they're at it, they can also do some work on their misogyny, racism, and ableism.
@colonelhogans
@RosFinfarner
I really hope the woman who he cheated on and lied to has been able to flourish post his miserable existence. Seriously, Joyce is such a total loser of a man. He's not fit to be scraped off the bottom of anyone's shoe.

There's something awfully sick about a country where private schools can spend $125m on an indoor aquatic centre - while public schools struggle to provide reasonable adjustments for students living with disability...
@australian
We will never forget the poor, vulnerable people who Deadbeat Morrison so cruelly hounded, terrified, and, in some cases, drove to suicide...
@MFWitches
Please. Not another Royal Commission. The recent Disability Royal Commission took 4 years and half a billion dollars to complete. Without one of the many thousands of perpetrators identified referred for prosecution.
@WWDA_AU
@blakandblack
The Australian welfare state has always been about doing things "to" people.
That's why decades of white folk Indigenous programs have failed.
The Voice will finally restore self-determination to Indigenous people.
So that they can get this mess sorted...
But our Pentecostal Prime Minister does not believe in climate change, so how can Australia prepare itself for the catastrophes ahead with this denier leading the nation?
@AymannJames
Traitor's doing what fascists do.
Shout out the big lie. No matter how outrageous. Just keep shouting it out. And enough people will come to believe it's true.
That's why fascists should never be given a platform to speak.
@blakandblack
How angry are so many Australians going to feel when they realise they were tricked into voting no by a massive lies and misinformation campaign from Murdoch media, the LNP, and other far-right extremists?
@colonelhogans
We were last in the US at the beginning of the year. So many people live in poverty, on the street, or in prison.
Capitalism devouring itself.
So yes, please, give me Medicare, job security, a good wage, superannuation, excellent public transport, and clean, safe cities...
@bjh77bradley
You're not a woman, and you're not a woman who's been sexually assaulted, so you can't speak to how a female victim/survivor should react after being raped.
@LyleShelton
Tens of thousands of children raped by Catholic clergy in Australia, all covered up by the likes of Pell, Fisher and Wilson. But on this matter, total silence from Shelton. Never a word of criticism. And yet Shelton dares to talk about shielding children?
@colonelhogans
Us progressives will keep encouraging Labor to do better, but we must never forget the complicated real world in which the Albanese government operates. What we must never do is give comfort to our political enemies, the LNP. They are an anathema to all we stand for.
@JaneCaro
Australia, like the US, has no state religion. We are not a Christian country. Most of us do not identify as Christians, and even fewer of us are regular churchgoers. So why do we have Christian chaplains in our public schools?
@australian
What else would you expect this war criminal, white supremacist, and human rights violator to say?
Please don't be like him.
Please say YES to the Voice.
@MFWitches
"Mental illness" is the safe, no blame excuse that lets everyone off the hook. The fact is that the vast majority of men who murder women had decision-making capacity at the time of their offence. They chose to be violent against women...

Far more people live in greater Tokyo than the whole of Australia - but Tokyo has something we do not have - outstanding public infrastructure.

Australia has one of the most privatised, inequitable education systems in the OECD. Governments need to redirect billions in funding from wealthy private schools to struggling public schools. So that every Australian child has equality of access, and opportunity.

I find it incredibly ironic that the Leader of the Opposition was so strongly against the Voice to Parliament for reasons including that he did not want to divide a country by race, yet is now calling for a Royal Commission that singles out First Nations communities (Grace Tame).
@AusIndiMedia
Because the Australian welfare system has always been about "punishing the poor" - to make them feel like trash and from a deviance pov, the rest of us anxious about never ending up in their boat...
@georgiecrozier
No one could at once be heading up a homo/trans/bi-phobic church while also heading up a football club committed to diversity and inclusion. The two are completely incompatible + thanks for reminding us that the Victorian LNP is infected with far-right fake Christian extremists!
Just got handed this pamphlet outside Mascot Station. Many thanks to all the volunteers out there working so hard to bring the Voice home...

@JNampijinpa
The Voice will have only one power:
To make representations to Parliament and the Executive.
About issues which impact Indigenous people.
Those representations can be accepted, modified or rejected.
The Voice has no decision making authority.
That's it. Now you know.
@colonelhogans
Hundreds of thousands of poor, vulnerable Australians threatened, terrorised, by this vile, vicious man. My heart goes out to all those Robodebt victims who suicided, and their families...

@JaneCaro
Private schools should receive no government funding. If you want to send your kid to a private school, it should be 100% user pays. Taxpayers should not have to subsidise your elitist choices.
When I wake up tomorrow morning, I will know just how racist Australia is in 2023. Right down to your electorate, suburb and street. If you voted no you are either a racist or a racist enabler. Either way, you are a sub-human disgrace.
Shame on you...

Paul Kelly called Prime Minister Gillard's royal commission into institutional child sexual assault a "populist witch hunt" because it exposed the systemic child rape practices of his beloved Catholic Church.

What a dump Myer is, right? Less than Kmart quality with higher than DJs prices! Sydney City store looks like a disused warehouse that hasn't had a coat of paint for years. And they're turning away customers?

For 235 years us white folk have been inflicting violence against Indigenous people. Still, they never ceded sovereignty over these lands. So participating in Welcome to Country ceremonies is both a nod to reality and a sign of respect.

Labor pollsters must be telling them not to offend 'socially conservative' voters. But that cohort is getting old, and you know, dying - so shouldn't Labor be more concerned about pissing off Millennials, and Gen Z voters?

The critical flaw in Mundine's strict reading of classic liberalism is that it assumes that a 'can do' attitude can open any door. Has he never heard of structural barriers like, you know, racism?

It's been years since Australia actually had journalists. You know, professionals who did their research, asked tough questions, reported the facts, without fear or favour. Now it's just paid for comment far-right extremist propaganda.
@JaneCaro
When I read the aggressively racist responses to your tweet, I was starkly reminded that Australia remains a remote, dangerous backwater. With so many toxic bigots who have zero capacity for positive change.
I will continue to hope and pray that our better angels will prevail.
