Happy Friday! A quick 🧵 and 🤔 on VA-ECMO/CS/Mechanical Unloading (MU).
VA-ECMO is becoming increasingly utilized in the setting of cardiogenic shock. We run into many problems.
I’m lucky to call this guy my husband 👨🏼🤝👨🏻👨🏻❤️👨🏼 He’s supported me through 2 fellowships 🫀 🫁 🏥 , a cross-country relationship, & puts up with my 📟 going off constantly.
Hope everyone finds their better half 🥰🌈

Make things easy for medical students.
Nickel, Quarter, Dime, Dollar = 5, 25, 10, 100 = average filling pressures of RA, RV, LA, LV.
Any other tricks providers use to teach normal filing pressures?

I'm always trying to improve as an attending who is largely clinical
Based on some great feedback, I'm incorporating discussion of research trials that are the basis of my clinical decisions

Another year older, and hopefully another year wiser. First year celebrating my bday as an attending - let’s see what gifts the day brings.
So far, my free cup of tea has been amazing 🤩

I’m lucky to have a supportive husband who meal preps for me while on service. Lemon/rosemary chicken, fancy rice, tzatziki on the side 🥰👏🏻 Thanks honey! 👨🏻❤️👨🏼🌈👨🏼🤝👨🏻
Not pictured: the dessert 🧁 😂
If I’ve said it once, I’ve said it 100 times - cardiogenic shock is a great mimicker
〽️Pts can p/w normal HR, sinus tach, AFib/Flutter
〽️Don’t be followed by normal BP
〽️Inflammation is common
〽️Long time adaptation makes pts “appear good”

The drive-through Covid 19 testing station is about to come online at UMASS tomorrow. Very proud of all the hard work that all our medical providers are doing in the city.
Dear Interns & All Housestaff,
Training in medicine is hard & staying positive even harder
Instead of saying “I have to work/study/exercise”
Start saying “I get to work/study/exercise”
Small changes ➡️ big impact
