Childcare for frontline workers needs to be sorted this time guys. Let’s be honest, this isn’t gonna be a couple of days. This is 12 weeks minimum. Hospitals are staffed by people who are also parents. Parents who mask up and step up. We need to help them out.

The suggestion that children may not be bright enough to mask correctly is hilarious given the number of adults wearing masks below their noses. Kids learn long division, fractions, algebra, they can for sure learn to mask up.

I was in work for most of Xmas. There were consultants everywhere. I made innumerable decisions, which could not happen. Home help not sorted Long term care not accepting Limited physio/ OT/ GP/ diagnostics access. Senior decision makers with no support is not the answer.

Public hospitals are open for all 24/7. If you call an ambulance you will be brought to us. We are open. We do surgery and diagnostics every day. Every night. We do transplants. We resuscitate. We look after everyone. I don’t throw rocks at systems that I don’t work in.

A patient told me yesterday that he was in hospital for his wedding anniversary and that our catering team got two bedside tables, covered them with a table cloth and brought him and his wife of many years a roast chicken dinner. Unbelievably cute. Our staff are legends. ❤️

I think people have trouble with what self isolation actually means. I have met, in person, a few people this week who told me they were ‘ self isolating ‘ having just come from overseas. This is one of the reasons why we need mandatory quarantine. We are an island.

Rheumatologists to the rescue! Hydroxychloroquine is my favourite drug. Lots of data that it is helpful in treating COVID. It works in mysterious ways, causes subtle immunomodulation without immunosuppression. #COVID ー19

I’m hoping my kids can see their grandparents this Christmas. I absolutely support them finishing up a day early so that I can restrict their movements for a week before 25th and try keep everyone safe.

I am proud that to be essential because what I do is important. Teaching unions should ask that staff are vaccinated to facilitate their prompt return to providing an essential service. We would all support this.

4 year old coughing Friday night. COVID test yesterday. Not detected today. Thanks so much to the loveliest people working their asses off in the testing centre, the scientists running the tests, the admin, all working all weekend to keep us safe. @HSELive
