In an interview, Dr Coffey suggested she would rather recruit overseas nurses than increase pay for those already in the NHS.

A&E waits are now “apocalyptic” and “worse than ever imagined” leaked NHS data shows, and could be driving 1,000 patient deaths a month, The Independent can reveal.
"No amount of strikes will change our decision," says PM.
With negotiations not on the table the NHS is left with endless strike action, hundreds of thousands of canceled appointments, and a workforce becoming increasingly disillusioned
"We know many of our members are suffering from long Covid, with their lives adversely affected making them unable to work. Facing the threat of losing full sick pay should they remain off sick from a condition some could argue is an occupational hazard, is neglectful and unfair.

Important pushing on this issue from
@RCollEM
This is sadly misguided. NHS managers are a vital part of the healthcare service and have worked exceptionally hard alongside front line staff to get us through the pandemic.
Under the Conservatives, eye-watering sums of taxpayers’ money are paid out to managers and consultants.
That means less investment in the frontline staff who our NHS relies on.
Meanwhile many NHS workers barely earn enough to get by.

The number of monthly waits also show clearly why Covid cannot be blamed for the current problems…The current state of waits in major A&Es is apocalyptic and we are seeing neither honesty about the numbers nor any good ideas about how to improve them

Interested to hear from others in the mental health land if it is the policy elsewhere that " If a patient no longer engages with our services and support and they do not meet criteria to be detained under the Mental Health Act, they are discharged back to the care of their GP."
This goes entirely against the ethos of my field Assertive Outreach
Even a rudimentary understanding of severe mental illness is enough to know that some people who are very ill either can’t/won’t engage
Engagement is a two way street and removing support is simply unethical
Senior NHS sources very unhappy with national comms "command and control" approach.
All press requests to go through NHSE offices. Trusts unable to answer for themselves.
