Brown says that if elected, ‘You wouldn’t have to come to ROMA again and again, asking for the same things every year.’ Says he would invest in rural infrastructure, and manage funding and projects more responsibility.
Municipalities subsidize the province by almost $4 billion/year. Almost 1/3 of municipal spending is for areas that are provincial responsibility elsewhere - housing, shelters, long-term care, public health, social services. Municipal spending on homelessness grew 200% in 5 yrs.
Robust discussion around the worsening homelessness crisis esp in rural areas. Investment in income support and community housing and collective will are needed to end homelessness.

Taking care of this means getting it right. Municipalities have lost their voice. Schools are part of our economic drivers and the economic impact needs to be part of the review.
Jim Pine on Emergency Health Services: Improve dispatch services. Municipalities want a role. Focus on integrated care. Need access to patient records. Community paramedicine is a solution. Off-load delays need to be addressed. Care for employees. Improve patient transfers.
