Me “pt found down, unknown downtime, John Doe, full code….” Bitch day shift nurse “FULL CODE PER WHO?” Me “um the law?” Day RN “well I need to know” Me “he’s an intubated John Doe with no paperwork. LEGALLY he has to be full code” Day RN proceeds to be rude the rest of report 🙄

@RNSuperHero Maybe it was a rude way of asking who the proxy is or if there is one?

@RNSuperHero The grudgy moral objection to proper healthcare maneuvers based on transparent, petty motivations under the guise of patient advocacy really grinds me. Really hard to fix on a system level once it starts and it can progress to vindictiveness.

@RNSuperHero had a pt recently who had been missing for 6 months - she had been hit by a car while in CA and had no ID, mom in NM didn’t know she’d made it to cali. catastrophic injuries, she was cared for until she recovered and could express her name. everyone is someone to somebody.

@RNSuperHero It should be common sense. If they can't tell you their name, they can't tell you they're a DNR or not. Thus, they're a full code.

@RNSuperHero Reminds me of a coworker who didn’t understand that a DNR does not mean you allow the patient to bleed out

@RNSuperHero Ask what’s bothering her. Trouble at home? Kids? Is she exhausted?
