I am a great believer in letting nature have its way. But this fat wisteria in Sheen, south-west London, is truly extraordinary. Are the residents very thin? The gap is about 10 inches.

Media outlets are still asking if Climate Change is to blame for #Hawaii disaster . Simple answer is climate change makes every wildfire more likely and more severe - however many other factors are involved. Please let’s not keep pretending it’s an open question. @BBCNews

Analysis shows yet more record temperatures . @WMO says it’s very concerned. Especially over the completely unexpected ocean heating. Report is currently not running on @BBCNews at all and story nine on TheTimes. Sex pictures are much more compelling. What will our kids say?

Rishi Sunak is now going to COP27 climate summit. Sensible decision. Why not send King Charles as well?

How come the Supreme Court makes a ruling that will compromise still further the efforts made to rescue this fragile planet? You can trace it back to the fossil fuel firms who funded so-called think tanks to turn #climatechange into a partisan issue. Good job, guys.

Kiss of death? #Heathrow was given all-clear to add a third runway in a 2015 review by Sir Howard Davies. Now he says expansion is not needed in current climate. Can someone do the sums for #HS2 as well? @HACAN1 @transenv @johnsauven @GeorgeMonbiot

There’s a severe Marine #heatwave off north east England – driven upwards by #CO2 emissions. Government response is to seek more oil and gas. Labour appears to be nervous of mentioning the C word For fear of Mail. What a state we are in. @BBCJustinR @ChiefExecCCC @Ed_Miliband

#Renewables surge. Let’s celebrate this for a moment. @IEA says: The global energy crisis has triggered unprecedented momentum behind renewables, with the world set to add as much renewable power in the next 5 years as it did in the past 20

We in the media are mealy-mouthed about this. EVERY heatwave is made more likely by emissions and EVERY one is made worse. We're now at 1.2C above historic and heading for 2C or 3C. What are we thinking will happen? @Vic_Gill @BBCJustinR @JonahFisherBBC @whippletom @r4Today

Editorial in today's Times: "Extreme weather is likely to become more common unless policymakers act now…Heatwaves, hurricanes, superstorms, forest fires & flooding are intensifying. Vague ambitions of action at an unspecified future date will not be adequate to pre-empt them"
