An Oklahoma state representative issued a statement warning Oklahoma City Thunder players against kneeling during the National Anthem, and threatened to reexamine the Thunder’s tax benefits if players kneel, per
I made a video this morning about the importance of voting and then got turned away because I wasn’t in the system even though I’ve voted there for 11 years, including for myself four times! Go figure, but that’s okay. We’ll be back later today!

Not true at all.
Just had a great chat with
@kcpolice
Chief Graves. We’re enchanted to welcome everyone to tomorrow’s parade and the women and men of our police department are prepared to keep all safe.
We’ll have a great championship celebration for our Chiefs!
Senator, those of us here in Missouri aren’t concerned about Pennsylvania. We’re worried about our families, our communities, our health. Stop the charade. It’s gone on too long. It’s impacted lives today. It’s tearing apart our country.
We’re a good city of good people. I heard boos too. But we also have hundreds of thousands more around here who respect the message the players are sharing; who respect the rights of our players and people to voice a strong message and who are working to make us better each day.
I have already learned today of a business that has declined to come to Kansas City, Missouri because of the eager action of our state leaders to restrict the rights of women and families.
I expect more to follow. I regret it, but understand.
Every day he has been a Chief,
@Mathieu_Era
has cared about and given back to the people of Kansas City. I wish him well back home in Louisiana and thank him for giving us some wonderful memories in

In response to emails and calls:
I am indeed proudly Baptist and look forward to proudly signing into law later today Kansas City's declaration that it will be a safe haven in Missouri for trans rights. We love all and welcome all.
This was the right result—accountability.
George Floyd should be alive today, as should many others. I appreciate the jury’s work. Now we must continue ours. Keep up the pressure.

Dude, please.
This is Kansas City, not Florida. Today is also Tuesday. We’d be ready if the game was today, tomorrow, Saturday, any day, and if there was a foot of snow.
See y’all soon at Arrowhead.
Kansas City is telling people to stay inside. But they want to have a game?
@NFL
@NFLPA
The Dolphins vs Chiefs game should be moved to Indianapolis. Protect your players, their families and the fans.
By the way, me writing “but that’s okay,” was me being Midwestern and passive aggressive. It’s really not okay. Talked to the election director this AM and will be following up further. If the mayor can get turned away, think about everyone else... We gotta do better.

Long suspension? Sure. Punishment? Sure. But I’m never gonna stand for throwing away a young black man’s career. He’s a kid. He’ll learn from this and he’s embarrassed. Let’s be teachers at a university, not corrections officers.
I didn’t have the photo bomb by Simone Biles on my bucket list, but here we are!
An outstanding welcome to Green Bay by Mayor Eric Genrich. Now, let’s go Chiefs!
I am delighted
@SecretaryPete
accepted our offer to return to Kansas City tomorrow to celebrate the completion of the new KCI terminal along with numerous dignitaries and many who helped build our new airport terminal. An important day in Kansas City history ahead.
Hey,
@taylorswift13
. Kansas City is enchanted to host you this weekend at the home of the World Champion
@Chiefs
.
In honor of your visit and Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), we’ll be lighting our downtown skyline purple. Have fun, Swifties!
There have been thousands of women and men in Kansas who have volunteered, worked hard, and shared a message of respect for a woman’s right to choose.
I congratulate them and thank them on behalf of so many around the country.

Spending my life this late afternoon at Missouri’s DMV. Just an idea... what if we got rid of front license plates in Missouri and used the cost savings to hire more DMV staff? I’ll ponder for a few.
I have stuck with CDC guidance throughout the pandemic and today is no different.
I will return Kansas City to a mask mandate indoors based upon national and regional health guidance and discussion with other Kansas City leaders. I will provide further details in the morning.
Dude, the order hasn’t even been filed yet. What are you suing about?
Do you want us to just schedule a debate on Fox News so you can get the press? I’m down!
To the great people of Kansas City: I will be filing a lawsuit to protect your freedoms.
This mask mandate is about politics & control, not science. You are not subjects but citizens of what has been the freest country in the world & I will always fight for you.

I know folks are hurting, but please, no matter our pain or anger, let’s make sure we all get home safely. I know we have a lot to fix and work on. Let’s do it together. I’m in. But, let’s not have more hurt tonight.
Welcome back to Kansas City today, Taylor Swift!
At a time when there are many serious things to discuss, having a little levity isn’t bad. She brings it. There’s no problem with getting swept away.
Continuing the tradition of making regular visits to Kansas City a requirement of being the Time Person of the Year.
Congratulations to Ms. Swift and all her fans who made it happen.
Katherine and I were together well before I was mayor and I hope she will be willing to stand me long after. Like many over the past challenging year, we spent time reprioritizing what’s most important in our lives and realized it is family.
Good things are happening in Kansas City! It’s great to have
@SHAQ
invested in the town and to welcome Shaq’s Big Chicken to our part of the country. I also thank him for buying 200 free sandwiches for folks at the airport today.
After a long year with a lot of successes and challenges along the way, it was an honor to congratulate the President on all he’s accomplished and wish him luck in the year ahead.
@POTUS
We have reached the point in our city and our country where de-escalation needs to be our guide. As a result, I will not be issuing a curfew order this evening despite that path being seen today in St. Louis, New York, and many other American cities.
Good morning, Chiefs Kingdom! Couldn’t sleep, so just starting the day.
Today we will announce our opening date for the new KCI Airport terminal. Announcement at 4PM. Viewable on your favorite news source. Excited to see the good times rolling in Kansas City and surrounds!

I’ve directed my staff to advise the Department of Homeland Security that in the same way we currently are welcoming hundreds from Afghanistan, Kansas City will gladly welcome the same number from Haiti seeking safety and shelter in our great city and country.

I am proud of Kansas City’s commitment to welcoming all people. That includes refugees from regions near and far. Last night, we welcomed our first family of Afghan refugees to Kansas City. The first of 550 new Kansas Citians from Afghanistan joining us in the months ahead.
