Sharing insights on Self Mastery & Performance Optimization | I learned from my struggles to help you through yours | Full Time QB Development & Mentorship
Spirals are Universal
They are everywhere in nature
They are as natur-al as it gets
Wouldn’t it make sense then…
To throw a spiral
We should throw as natural as possible?
If you want your QB to be calm, confident, & decisive…
Then I don’t believe consistently screaming where to throw in the middle of their drop & belittling them after reps during 7 on 7/team drills is the best way to accomplish that.
I see/hear this A LOT
Just a thought.
Pretty cool to be voted best sports trainer on Long Island!
Truly a reflection of all the QBs who have bought in, done the work consistently over time, & shined so bright out on the field.
Thank you to everyone who voted.
Grateful for & love you all ✊🏻❤️
It’s a shame they couldn’t both win this game…
Hands down the best head to head matchup of any 2 QBs I’ve ever witnessed.
73% of passes completed
1,124 total yards accounted for
17 Touchdowns responsible for
Two heroic performances by young men who are the true embodiment of…
A peak inside our process w/

Structure of Sessions:
Sequencing
Warm Up
Movement + Feet to Eyes
Off Platform + Creativity
Rhythm & Timing + Progressions/PA
Dia is the epitome of “The Standard”
Intention. Focus. Detail. Effort.
People often ask me if I “still do my QB Camp”
It is not a camp. It is not a clinic.
It is a full time. Year round.
Quarterback Development Program.
That goes far beyond & deeper than just workouts on the field.
But yes, I do.
It’s my full time job 7 years now.
A middle school QB asked what I meant by “stay behind the ball”
A simple, go to cue I often use.
Here’s how I broke it down for him.
Helped him a ton. Hope it helps you too 🤙🏻
I have tremendous respect for any man who volunteers his time to coach youth football
Here’s a list of cues I’d recommend to stop telling youth QBs, why, and cues to use instead
To help any volunteer coach become more knowledgeable & a better coach for the kids
A thread
In ‘08 QB Training as a career didn’t exist.
Got nothing but criticism for leaving GTown to pursue a degree in phys ed @ UNH bc it was aligned w/ my vision of making QB training possible
Nothing but eye rolls & “yea, ok”
I believed. I worked.
Training full time 6 years now.
This world is full of successful people who didn’t listen to the critics, doubters, naysayers. Don’t let negative people hold you back. They’ll sure try, but you work for what you want & make choices to get you there. Those who aren’t in your corner never mattered & never will!
A few have asked what “Prioritize Posture” means & why…
When throwing work to keep:
1. Head Steady/Still
2. Spine Straight
3. Hips & Shoulders Level
Things that help:
1. Keep back foot connected to ground & behind front foot
2. Lean right
3. Over exaggerate to feel
True story about our first ever “Group” Workout…
1 kid signed up & cancelled last minute bc he had no ride
I drove to his house to pick him up & got lost
Arrived at 9 pm, turned on my headlights, & took him through the workout on his front lawn.
If you want to…
You can.

If you’re looking for a pure thrower of the ball, with a love/obsession for the game, relentless work ethic, and top of the line character…

Throwing touchdowns is cool
But..
Have you helped someone today?
Have you made someone smile?
Have you listened to a friend in need?
Have you given without expecting to receive?
Have you used your platform
To change your little section of the world?

Thank you
@jared_valluzzi
for taking the time to shine a light on the boys & our operation.
It’s hard to put into words what we get to do means to me. You captured who we are, what we do, & what it’s really all about beautifully.
Thank you!!
I had the opportunity to do a story on the impact
@QBCoachBrady
has had on Long Island football. Read about what he has done on and off the field for quarterbacks on Long Island. It’s a special story featuring a special person.

Special human and QB.

Camp this weekend! Grateful to be surrounded by so many people in this for the right reasons..helping young men work towards achieving their dreams and goals through sharing knowledge of this game we love!
We are half way through the regular season on LI
I can confidently say that this is by far the highest caliber QB play I have ever seen collectively across the Island
Not a few, not a handful, but dozens of Q’s playing at an extremely high level
It’s truly inspiring to witness
When I began training QBs at 18 yrs old
I knew nothing about anything.
What I did know…
1. I was passionate about it/loved it
2. I was willing to learn
3. I believed I could help
If you know those 3 things…
Start.
If you’re an athlete who struggles to focus…
Implement a daily mindfulness practice
1. Set a timer for 2-5 Minutes
2. Sit down, close your eyes, be still
3. Bring all of your focus & attention to your breath
4. Notice when the mind becomes active, bring focus back to breath…
A young coach recently asked me how to get more “high caliber” QBs in his area to train with him…
“Start developing them when they’re 10”
Play the long game.
Plant the seeds. Water the roots.
Consistently over time.
Picking fruit from trees you didn’t grow isn’t the move.
Throwing made simple. A Mantra:
“Weight back. No stride
Stay straight. Rotate. Decelerate.”
I like it because
It’s catchy
It rhymes
It’s simple
Easy to visualize
Easy to feel
Easy to remember
Makes perfect frigging sense
🧘🏻♂️🌀🌪🌊
Any cues/coaching points I share that you like & make sense to you…
Please use them freely & confidently.
You are not stealing or copying anything.
Many cues I use were inspired by or taught to me by other coaches.
All for the betterment of the collective 🤙🏻🌀🌊🌪
I’ve noticed a tendency in many overly humble QBs
They also struggle w/ self doubt.
They’re so concerned w/ not coming across as cocky, that they often minimize or down play their abilities, efforts, & accomplishments.
The very things that build confidence.
First one in!! Congrats from the bottom of my heart Joe. Earned & deserved doesn’t even begin to describe it. Stop & smell the roses my friend, enjoy the fruits of your labor!!
@josephfilardi

I believe everything that happens in our lives happens FOR us not TO us...
Losing a game, getting benched, being injured
Practice having the foresight to understand a lesson is being given to you in all experiences. FOR YOU to learn and grow from. No matter how big or small
“Prioritizing Posture” & Proper Power Production allow for natural adaptability of the arm to the unpredictable nature of the game
From my experience…
Prioritize Posture & Power Production over “Elbow Up” or “Higher Release”
The kids feel better & throw better
Congrats from the bottom of my heart brother!!! Your potential is limitless, you are powerful beyond measure, you are capable of achieving every and anything you set your mind to. Go Blue!!!

I tore my left hamstring, throwing in a game in HS, bc of how I was taught to throw
❌Drive to the target
❌Rip front elbow down/back
❌Elbow up/high release
It was so unnatural, that it put tremendous strain on my lower back & hamstring
Making it rip
Evidence…this isn’t it.
This is the best part of it all , I remember being in his shoes doing whatever I can to be great. I’m most thankful for opportunities like this .
@QBCoachBrady
Out of Patrick Mahomes first 100 completions last year
(Minus jet sweeps/shovel passes)
70 came from inside the pocket, in rhythm/on time
Most common drops/footwork by completion:
Slide No Hitch = 17
3 w/ Hitch = 13
RPO = 16
There is no doubt in my mind that
@rocco_rainone1
is a scholarship caliber Quarterback. Only a matter of time before someone offers that opportunity. Until then, stay present & focused on the task at hand my friend ✊🏻❤️
Putting on a helmet and pads does not suddenly make you Superman
You are human
How you:
Sleep
Eat
Think
Move
Self talk
Manage stress
Manage time
Deal w/ emotions
Treat others
Prepare
All impact your ability to perform
Take ownership of your life
Optimize your potential
When working with QBs who also play baseball
There is a great cue/analogy I love…
“More hitter. Less pitcher.”
Incites feel & visual of things they already do, know well, & understand how the 2 differ.
Because of the jerseys we wear
We have the opportunity and responsibility to change our little section of the world
Be the best you
Not just for the betterment of yourself
But for the betterment of all who surround you

is Joseph Filardi from Half Hollow Hills West HS.
In the Colts' divisional quarterfinal matchup, Filardi totaled 651 yds and 10 TDs to lead the team to a 70-68 win. In his first 9 games this season, he put up 4,027 yds and 53…
A truthful and kind compliment can change someone’s world. Tell a kid they’re really smart, really talented, really great at their passion. Empower people endlessly and they will feel endlessly capable!
Something I’ve noticed about most people on social media who are quick to criticize…
They haven’t created or shared anything of their own.
Pay them no mind.
Record setting day this past weekend for
@jordan_heyman
Hills East ‘24
Set the Suffolk County & Tied the Long Island Record for most TD passes in a single game with 8!!!
Congrats on your historic day my friend!
Week 8:
67% Comp. 475 Yards 8 TDs 0 Ints
Not enough words to describe how I feel about this young man.
Everything you could want in the leader of your program and then some.

Front foot strike
If the front foot lands on or across the “midline”
The front hip locks
Making it difficult for hips & shoulders to rotate smoothly & stay level

Sad day for the Friar Family. My heart and prayers go out to Coach Gallagher, his family, and the Friar Brotherhood. The master play caller and motivator behind our historic 7 Straight Championship run. A true friend, mentor, and coach. We love you Coach Gallagher. Rest In Peace
Please pray for the peaceful repose of former SA football coach Freddy Gallagher Jr. May perpetual light shine upon him and may he Rest In Peace. Amen.
The love + the want to + the curiosity + the humility + the work ethic + the talent
Beautiful recipe for greatness…
@DiaBell3QB1
American Heritage (FL) ‘26
One of the biggest mistakes I made early on my journey of developing QBs
Allowing myself to think everything I did had to be original.
Different, unique, mine.
There’s loads of great coaches out there
It’s 100% OK to do exactly what they do
Take the wheel & add your spin.
Consistent Repetition = Instinctive Translation
@Mikey_Rescigno3
ripping a beautiful cross body throw working flat on the move
Our cues:
Ten toes/belt buckle/shoulder aka power sources to the target
Stay square/stabilize preventing energy from leaking out to the side
A good completion percentage is 60%
The National Record in HS/College is just under 80%
If you throw 20 passes a game
60% = 12-20
80% = 16-20
That’s a difference of 4 comp’s/game
80% comp looks a whole lot more realistic & achievable when you break it down..
Like all things.
Leading Long Island in TD passes as a sophomore is what stands out.
His football IQ, natural feel for the game, & calm/confident disposition are major factors that lead to that statistic many might not see.
Special things happening for a special young man.
@josephfilardi
Coaches…
Performance anxiety. Fear of failure. Burnout & overwhelm are all real things that athletes can experience which drastically hinders their performance.
Especially for the QB position, I invite us all to reflect on if our coaching style is creating or minimizing these.
Something we do as part of our QB Development culture…
We hug different.
We hug heart to heart.
It’s a small gesture I make sure each QB knows & does every time we say hello & goodbye.
The primary reason…
To let them know I care about them.
