IDK why Berber accounts try pushing this, the oldest sedentary settlement in Mauritania is Dhar Tichitt, a Black settlement. It predates the Libyco-Berbers in Mauritanian by a large margin.

The Actual Middle Ages accounts (Arab Writers) describes them as Blacks. See Mauny and JD Fage. Archaeology ties them to Dhar Tichitt. Everything else is Revisionism in the Tarikhs. By contrast nothing describes them as Berber in Indigenous Accounts.

@obafredhampton They consider knowing another ethnic grouping aside from "Bantu" an intellectual achievement. Wait until they learn like 20% or something (Conservative estimate) of AA ancestry descended from Mande people.

@nianello6 @Timbutu02 Sure, thanks for the comments. It's less so that I think it's the most impressive West African example of Sudano-Sahelian architecture, it's more so that it's hard to take it seriously when half the people here know jack about Islamic West Africa or Mansa Musa.

@Xongkuro The same can be said of the Garamantes, Scythians, the Xiongu Federation. Also they are recorded in the Tarikhs, written by latter inhabitants and neighbors who fought them like Moroccans. In short, you are simply wrong.

@ManjaKoa As if Nigerian Diasporans don't benefit per capita from AA quotas in Ivy League and corporate settings more than Native Blacks. It's generally well known that AA only really benefits the better educated and higher income Black strata.

@shi_huang5 Huang, we can ask the same question of how East Asia was the least technologically advanced 50kya via the Movius line meanwhile Africa as a whole had far more dynamic toolkits during the Mid to Late Stone Age.

@BuddhaAbuse @empireenjoyer10 *Arabic "Arabs" were never in large number here in government. They were "Islamic" but highly syncretized with animist aspects of local culture as it was a top down process. Ghana itself was Pagan until the end of it's rule. They were otherwise Black.

Where to Begin? 1. "Bantus" made up the minority of SSA population. 2. Pygmies demographically were unharmed and the Khoisan were deemed dangerous "savages" by the Boers and reacted in form via war and enslavement by kidnapping them while children.

@shi_huang5 You are fundamentally wrong about the conclusions of your paper, the new paper, and modern Phenotypes.
@shi_huang5 Except you are going beyond the conclusions of the study or the criteria logic of your own 2017 study on phenotypes and genetics. There is no fundamental modern African-Kabwe-Denisovan pattern. This is essentially just a Hiedelbergensis/LCA typological issue.

@batalasart I have data on actual development Indexes concerning this era, but this is an important note. First the absolute lowest was in the *least dense part of Africa precolonially and they note with the Asian examples the importance of population size. Contd.

@MollyWop9 The Ironic part is that Anthropologist and Historians during the Colonial Age, like Theal, Agree cannibalism wasn't prevalent in South Africans. The Zulu for example, as well as other tribes, treated Cannibalism as something pathological. See John Baker's Race as well.

Hilarious, Portugal barely had any demographic impact in even Angola and overtime even resorted to giving rights to Native Angolans in metropolitan areas because they had such little powers over the vast majority where rebels came from. Conquest for settlement barely applies.

It seems a big reason Africa. History gets ignored is because of the contention of which tribes, even within West Africa, were "Negro". From Phillip Curtin's Vol 2 of Image of Africa.
