I tweeted about not carrying

in my

and lost one follower.
🤣
PSA: I also vaccinate, practice EBM, believe essential oils are woo and think food is food, not medicine
Also: BLM, Indigenous strength, feminism rocks, pro immigration
Who else is outta here?
To protect my staff, our families and our patients, despite this ridiculousness from the CMOH, at
@KristenPharmacy
, any staff who test positive will be paid to stay off until they have two negative RAT, 24h apart starting on day 5 (not a new policy).
If you won’t lead, I will.
My husband just found out that in ONtario you must be vaccinated to dine in at a restaurant but you don’t have to be vaccinated to work in one.
He. Is. Astounded.
Welcome to our collective level of disbelief. This is
@fordnation
’s Ontario.
Everyone: we’re all going to get it.
Me: I refuse to accept that getting a possibly neurodegenerative disease, which we know nothing about the long term effects when we know about things like SSPE and links between EPV & MS or HPV & cancer, is inevitable
I’m fun to be around 😳
Since recognizing the amoxicillin back order yesterday, azithromycin & cefuroxime oral liquid antibiotics have now become unavailable.
This is like Armageddon on the ground. No fever reducers, no antibiotics.
How does one parent or provide healthcare in this climate?
A reminder. We In health care ALSO want mandates to end. When it’s safe. We also want lock downs to end. When it’s safe. And we want to go back to normal. We just don’t say these things while wrapped in a confederate flags blaring air horns endlessly. See the difference?
PSA: Ivermectin is not an alternative to the COVID vaccine. It is not indicated. YouTube videos are not evidence. I would not dispense for COVID and yes, Pharmacists can refuse to dispense!
Ontario: it’s important to understand that if the Conservatives win tonight, the vaccine passport will (likely) be cancelled tomorrow.
Lives are literally in our hands with this election
#Elxn44
I have federally supplied
#rapidtests
on my shelves. They will expire in February.
@fordnation
: make a move; allow us to “dispense” one box per health card per week.
This would be a quick “on” switch to ensure a safer Christmas when we know people will be gathering.
Today?
Ok buckle up. It's happening in live time.
My patient can't access a med. Med was prescribed by specialist THREE WEEKS AGO. Prescriber sent Rx to "specialty" Pharmacy.
I've dispensed this med before. Nothing "special" except the price.
Called the "case manager" -
1/
Can we not call the sore arm, malaise, fever, chills etc “side effects”. Can we please call them “expected immune response”. Because that’s exactly what they are! And we need to reframe to avoid avoidance.
"I can't believe it, we've been so careful all this time and now it's almost over and we caught it"
Me: "It's not actually over, we're at the highest case counts ever."
The problem is, lifting things like mask & vaccine mandates makes people feel this way. I get the confusion.
My Mom asked if I was sure about vaccinating the kids this week. A Nonna just making extra sure.
I said “Mom, literally every moment of my entire life has led up to me being equipped to make this decision. I am sure.”
If you are unsure, I’m always here to answer questions ⤵️
Thinking about all the parents making hard decisions tonight. To stay home. To go to school. Income. Food. Shelter. Kids health. Mental. Learning. Future.
These are not easy choices.
You are not a bad parent. No matter what you choose.
Forget the licence plate fees.
Give us a childcare plan.
Forget the one time bonuses.
Give us proper compensation, staff support, PPE & training.
Forget the rhetoric.
Give us real action.
We can see through election ploys. We can’t see past what we’ve seen.
“Receiving a COVID-19 vaccine is voluntary. At the same time, the OHRC’s position is that a person who chooses not to be vaccinated based on personal preference does not have the right to accommodation under the Code.”

Have arrived at
@KristenPharmacy
to prepare for our thousand dose, drive through
#COVID19Vaccine
clinic. It’s 5:15. We start at 9. There are three cars already in line.
Wow.
Told my boys this year they would be wearing N95 masks from
@masks4allCanada
and explained why and the better protection.
7 asks me “if it’s worse than before why are they letting us go back to school?”
@fordnation
can you help me answer this one?
"We want kids to be kids and not wear masks"
Wearing a mask did not turn my kids into little adults.
They are not suddenly getting their own snacks and water so I can definitely confirm they are still kids. In masks.
Today I officially offered my staff
#PaidSickDays
& personal days. This is not virtue signaling. This is being the change I want to see in the world. Calling out all other
#IndependentPharmacy
business owners to do the same. I'm far more worried about
#burnout
than $$ now.
If you have an “every child matters” sign on your lawn next to an “end all COVID19 mandates and restrictions” sign, every child does, in fact, not matter to you.
Buyers remorse getting Moderna (BA1) bivalent booster a few weeks ago and now Pfizer (BA5) is available and you think you made a mistake?
You didn't.
Moderna dose is higher. Omicron strains are similar.
IMO they are equally good for added protection.
My husband just cleaned the kitchen at 930pm because a messy kitchen gives me anxiety and he wants to have a good Sunday.
And that’s the shit you need to be promising at the alter kids. 👰
There are 100 self-reported cases of COVID in children who attend my kids school. This is UP from 66 yesterday. How many attended yesterday? How many will be back in 5 days when still contagious.
This is why my kids aren't back yet.
(& yesterday I felt like I was overreacting)
You never know what brand of tetanus shot you’re getting. Cause you’re getting the first available shot. And all permutations have not been “studied” because we know they are safe & effective.
Do not wait for Pfizer this week. Get Moderna if you can. Fully vaxx is everything.
I proudly and safely administered
#AstraZeneca
to 755 people at the height of the third wave.
I will follow whatever the evidence indicates for their second shots.
This is how science works.
“While the Code prohibits discrimination based on creed, personal preferences or singular beliefs do not amount to a creed for the purposes of the Code”

Estimates are that 80-90% of unvaccinated Ontarians will contract COVID-19 in the next 6-12 months. You are literally choosing between the vaccine and the disease. Choose wisely. 💉 💉 💉
I learned last night that my Canadian elementary school aged children do "bad guy" (active shooter/intruder) type drills at school and I cried.
Not. Ok.
“The OHRC is not aware of any tribunal or court decision that found a singular belief against vaccinations or masks amounted to a creed within the meaning of the Code.”
3/
In fairness I do believe vaccines can contribute to the development of Alzheimer's. BECAUSE YOU LIVE LONG ENOUGH TO DEVELOP IT thanks to NOT dying from another illness.
It’s time, NOW, to change the definition of fully vaccinated against COVID19.
For all those 12+ it is *at least* THREE DOSES.
Do not skip your third shot. And if you are 60+, book your fourth shot, NOW.
So, aside from a valid medical exemption (hint, there are VERY few - more in this coming from Focused Communication soon!) there are no available exemptions. As it should be.
5/
My kids wear masks on playgrounds when other children are present. They don’t mind a bit and it saves Mom from hollering “gives space!” every four seconds.
They’ll remember the playground. Not the mask.
When people come for their first dose now we cannot ignore their hesitancy.
“There’s a reason you haven’t had a dose yet. Do you want to talk about that? Do you have any questions? I’m happy you’re here but I want to be sure you’re comfortable being here”
One dose at a time.
Let’s all wear scrubs today in support of the true hero convoy in Toronto: the tireless parade of health care workers.

Private businesses can enforce the vaccine passports in their setting as they wish, to keep themselves and their employees safe.

Hey
@Twitter
, offering a “bounty” is threatening violence and he’s doubling down on that same rhetoric. You need to do better to protect
@NaheedD
& others. Now.
Moms need more than a days notice for return to school. Grocery shopping. Laundry. Finding shoes and backpacks. Making lunches. Tell us today. Or don’t do it.
@fordnation
By the end of the day tomorrow I will have almost no
#vaccine
left. And my huge waiting list remains. That
#AstraZeneca
“sitting in fridges” needs to be moved ASAP. Also this would be a good time to allow me to
#vaccinate
offsite. I can do 500 a day in a community clinic!!
Had a patient cancel their second shot altogether. Too many mixed messages they said. No confidence left in the system. I tried my best.
This is on poor comms from NACI, inflammatory media headlines and a disastrous rollout. She will not be the only one. Shame.
I’m not saying Pharmacists saved the world by squeezing 6 doses from a 5 dose vial. I’m just saying the professionals often saving things behind the scenes is at it again.
A democratically elected (3x!) government has enacted and upheld a necessary emergency act to end illegal occupation in Canada.
Now it’s time to follow the money - the funding behind this is the real story.
VOICEMAIL.
This time I left a voicemail requesting a transfer. Now I will go to the physician's office to try to get the Rx sent to me.
THIS IS THE PROBLEM with these agreements we're seeing. My patient could have had this med 3 weeks ago from me.
Stay tuned.

Further: “Organizations that are not included in the list of settings but wish to mandate vaccines are encouraged to use the provincial proof of vaccine certificate with the written documentation…
6/
Local chiropractor asked a patient if they had been vaccinated yet. They had not. His response:
"Good, because otherwise I'd have to wear gloves b/c there are two ingredients that cause Alzheimer's and kill baby rats" Also advised that vaccine invalidates life insurance.
WHAT
Mask mandates in healthcare MUST be continued.
@fordnation
@ONThealth
Please - do not put more strain on us & the system.
This is an easy win - take it!
😷😷😷😷😷😷😷😷😷😷😷
How do you switch your
#CommunityPharmacy
?
It's very easy!
Call/walk in to the place you WANT to go.
Give them your name, birthdate, contact info. If you have a plan - bring them your card.
They will call your previous Pharmacy and move your profile.
Voila.
#IndependentPhamacy
First check in call from Public Health due to 5 being a high risk contact.
“We advise he stays isolated and limits contact with everyone in the house”
HE’S FIVE.
Make the advice make sense.
Coming here to contradict me will result in immediate addition to my personal city of Mutesville.
Studies have confirmed my tweet.
Ppl should be earning living wages in industries that value their work. If staying home for $2k a month is more attractive, that’s a system failure
Why is there a shortage of kids acetaminophen & ibuprofen?
Low vaccine rates in this age group. Low mask usage in the general population. Highly contagious omicron variant. Supply chain & staffing. Add on an unclear letter about needing an Rx
= PANIC
Finally had to “unfriend” an old friend. It wasn’t the sea lioning. It wasn’t the “curious to know you’re opinion”. It was the Disney vacation pics. From yesterday. Seriously. Tone. Deaf.
You know what’s worse than not going outside for my mental health?
The guilt I feel over not going outside for my mental health!!
I just want to read a book on the couch today. Can someone tell myself to stop feeling guilty about myself.
Hey
@Starbucks
I don’t think my stars should expire when our province is under a stay at home order (closest Starbucks is an hour drive from home)
Trust me. I miss you more than you miss me.
Point of interest. This is a direct result of PPN and closed loop integration. Patients have the choice of Pharmacy. But we are seeing agreements signed for some insurance to only cover drugs bought at certain places. In this instance the plan will cover with me also

Ontario
#CommunityPharmacy
will begin to dispense Paxlovid shortly. Great for access. Except. We are being paid the princely sum of $13.25 for this service. Which is utterly demeaning, ridiculous and unsafe. Let’s dive into why:
🧵1/
A week until in class learning resumes in Ontario.
Taking stock:
❌ 💉 mandates for educators
❌ mandatory 😷 for all kids including JK/SK
❌ HEPA 💨 in every class
❌ easy access to testing for staff & students
❌ N95s supplied for all staff
Why isn’t this time being used?!
I must be missing something.
How is it preferably to have another lock down in
#Ontario
instead of
#VaccinePassports
. How?
If we don’t
#MandateVaccines
NOW we will be locked down by end of September.
No, I need to call the Pharmacy.
Called the Pharmacy. Pressed the button to speak with staff. Straight to voicemail. Called again and pressed the button that I was a prescriber. Straight to voicemail. Called again and pressed the button that I needed a repeat. STRAIGHT TO
2/
Physician. Took my direct cell and will call me back.
Keep in mind patient has gone without for THREE WEEKS.
Waiting on both other Pharmacy and Physician office to call me back.
More to come....

You know what’s fun? Watching my business account dwindle with every expense and every payroll. Because
#COVID19vaccines
in Ontario are a LOSS in
#CommunityPharmacy
. That’s right: I am personally funding the vaccination of the community.
@fordnation
it’s time to support us.
Today I was contacted by a Mom with a medically fragile child. Child too young to be vaccinated. Dad went to rec hockey and discovered known antivaxxer in the dressing room, breaking the vaxpass rules. Heartbroken. Scared.
At risk people see you, antivaxxers. Do you see them?
It should not take a backlash to prioritize patients. It’s time to ban ALL Preferred Pharmacy Network agreements (this was only the most sensational). Patient care above all. |Manulife will cover specialty drug prescriptions at any pharmacy | CTV News
Please keep in mind the patient/caregiver has now expressed a desire for the med to come from us, so not the Pharmacy nor the Physician can block the Rx from coming to us. I still don't yet have the Rx.
6/
Made a family decision. If (when) “April” break is prolonged, we will not be doing online school for 6 (Gr 1). I can’t handle it along with vaccine delivery. 6 hated it. We’ll do reading. And clocks. And outside time. I pick sanity this time.
Two extra days before schools open in ON. Plenty of time to:
- mandate vaccines 💉for education workers where fully = 3 doses
- mandate vaccines for all 5+
- mandate N95s 😷for all staff
- mandate masks for all kids including Jk/SK
- put HEPA 💨filters into every room
Right?
Called the physician's office. Went from reception to another staff member. Staff says they're hung up on coverage I said, I have a team for this, please send us the Rx.
She said she needs to speak with the

There are a whole bunch of community
#Pharmacists
that went in to work early this morning to prep for the calls in addition to all their regular work.
#Patience
and
#Kindness
will be so important today. We are people and we are working as hard as humanly possible!
First it was pediatric acetaminophen & ibuprofen. Now oral liquid amoxicillin: seeing availability dates of January.
It is really not good on the ground - as a parent of littles, or as a
#CommunityPharmacist
.
It's a good time to look at judicious Abx use. But it's still bad.
Has
@fordnation
simply moved their offices into a Shoppers Doug Mart location for maximum convenience?
The podium is soon to be found in all new floor plans I’m sure.
Confirmed with my supplier I cannot sell
#RapidTests
direct to the patient as they are POC medical devices. Working on sourcing ones that can be sold direct and self admin @ home.
@fordnation
why am I doing this work for you? EVERY household should have access every day.
Posted a delivery driver job today with a living wage, matched pension & paid sick days. Twelve applicants so far.
There is no worker shortage. There’s just a shortage of people willing to show up for crappy pay and no benefits anymore.
And that’s a GOOD thing.
I've now *faxed* the Pharmacy requesting the transfer. Next is to fax the physician's office requesting the Rx be sent to us.
No acknowledgement anywhere this is coming and patient will be without again for another day....

3/4 of my fully vaxxed family (+1 is camera shy). Kids 2nd dose at 21 days. Husband now boostered. Wearing our N95s by default now (have been since Sept). Cancelled nearly all Christmas plans & kids 🎁 to Great Wolfe. Doing all we can to support all HCW through this.
Tried calling again this time selected the option to pay a bill, this is the only option that rings a phone and doesn't go straight to voicemail.
But it still went to voicemail.
7/
Wait, what?! Why will we not have tests to distribute after April 6th?!!
@fordnation
people already can’t get a funded
#PCR
, now you’re ending free rapid tests? Stop privatizing healthcare!
This. Is. Not. Ok.
@OntPharmacists
Ontario: 🆓 RATs will be distributed at grocery stores and pharmacies until April 6th
If you know of locations that receive regular stock of RATs consider sharing in the comments
#ctfON
Wanting to post about the recent deaths of children from COVID on Ontario, on Facebook.
But know I will be accused of spreading fear.
This is why I’m torn about in person learning right now. Those were people’s children. Their loss is profound.
And so while this is an incredible example of the risks of PPN it also speaks to the risk of calling anything “speciality” when it’s only special due to price. And also of providers directing patients to specific a pharmacy without understanding the needs of the patient.
10/
Suddenly unconvinced kids will be back at school in 3 weeks….
@fordnation
you have failed parents, students & educators.
If you came out TODAY and said vaccines are mandatory for anyone working, going to school or doing any activity - we might have a fighting chance.
I am hearing that the appetite for vaccine passports and mandatory vaccines in Ontario is shifting at the top - in the right direction.
Businesses, associations & professionals, now is the time to be LOUD in our demands of this. Do not back down.
