Joey Votto is the 2nd greatest Red of all time, and I'll listen to arguments that he's better than Frank. We have 1 more season of him. I hope we get to appreciate him for his greatness.
(Yes, he's better than Pete, Joe, Tony, George, Johnny. Yes he really is.)
The
#Reds
today placed on the injured list IF Mike Moustakas and selected the contract of OF Ronnie Dawson as a Substitute Player from Triple-A Louisville.
Keith Law wanted the Reds to spend $25M ok Zack Wheeler because Anthony DeSclafani isnt good vs LHB
Vs LHB:
ZW: .275/.341/434. 104 OPS+ $23M
AD: .226/.331/.464 107 OPS+ $5.98M
Career leaders in OBP (post integration)
Barry Bonds .4443
Joey Votto .4213
Mickey Mantle .4205
Frank Thomas .4191
Mike Trout .4188
Edgar Martinez .4178
If we assume Votto is a HoF, the
@Reds
will have had a HoF on the roster ever season since 1955. 66 straight seasons. Coincidentally, 1955 was one of only 2 seasons for the Reds to have a pair of 40 Hr players (Klu & Post).
@ObscureExReds
I would be much more "afraid" to pitch to Pujols, Goldschmidt, and Freeman off the top of my head....I almost want to get my notes out. Nobody has Votto the "most feared" hitter in the NL for 10 Years except for you.
#Top10RightNow
3B always the hardest. Stacked.
Yes, you'll all be mad about Astro
#1
. Not sure what to tell you (these lists are month old now, too).
Arenado 3rd not due to any Coors bias. He (.392 wOBA) was well behind AB (.418) & Rendon (.413) & I didn't feel D overcame that.
Joey Votto career with RISP: 1837 PA, 1361 AB 418 BB, .326/.477/.563, 640 RBI, .47 RBi/AB
Tony Perez:
3408 PA, 2876 AB, 414 BB, .284/.364/.470, 1237 RBI. .43 RBI/ AB
One of these players defines "clutch" for an entire generation and the other walks too much.
Matt McLain named Southern League Player of the Week after a sizzling start at home for your Lookouts.
The
@Reds
No. 4 prospect had 8 extra base hits and an OPS of 1.750. Wow. Congrats
@mattmclain_
!
Reds/Indians Dominos thread
1. Dodgers balk at Indians asking for May & Lux
2. Reds, needing a SS, inquire on Lindor, Indians insist on Senzel
3. Reds balk as they have no other CF in the system
4. Reds find mutual interest with Shogo Akiyama
The Reds were last at .500 after a win in Philadelphia to get to 4-4. They would lose 11 of the next 14 to fall to 7-15. Left for dead by all but the most hearty Reds fans.
Let's go win this division!!!
I'm expecting the
#Reds
to make a big move or 2 this off season. You don't trade Trammell (regardless of your opinion of him) for 1 year of Trevor Bauer and then sit on your hands after a 74ish win season. Its going to happen.
Greg Vaughn is a Reds hero for his .245/.347/.535 117 OPS+ season in 1999
Adam Dunn slashed .247/.380/.520 130 OPS+ over 8 years & 4562 PA, and fans excoriate him.
Wade Miley is on pace for an insane 8.1 bWAR.
For context, it would be the 3rd most bWAR by a Reds pitcher in 75 years. (Rijo 93, Maloney 65)
Cueto's 20W 2014 season where he led the league in IP & K's was 6.6 bWAR
If Reiver Sanmartin turns into even a serviceable
#3
or
#4
, that will be a steal.
Since the trade, Shed Long: .216/.284/.376 & a nontender from Seattle.
Soooo, a big revelation this week: Chris Welsh is the glue that holds
#Reds
broadcasts together. Paired with Barry Larkin for the Redbirds series, those games were the best telecasts of the season. They locked in on the game, took control of the flow, minimizing John the Babbler.
Dear writers: YOU created this controversy of Jeter not being unanimous. I can think of 25 players who should've been before Mo, but none of you would allow it. If Pedro, Randy, Mays, Seaver, Bench, Griffey, etc aren't, then don't complain about a 2nd tier HoF SS not being.
Kyle Farmer is hitting
.222/.296/.306 in June. I wouldn't mind seeing if Alejo Lopez can do better. Promote Lopez & Barrero & put Farmer to the bench where he belongs.
"If you play a bench player long enough, you'll see why they're a bench player."

Elly De La Cruz starts last 3 levels
MLB (40 PA) .235/.350/.412
AAA (43) .195/.233/.415
AA (42 PA) .220/.238/.439
Next ~40 PA
AAA: .368/.455/.842
AA: .412/.462/.861
@drbucknasty
@DavisMattek
I don't think you realize how much smaller & slower they were
Here is the OL for the 1963 NFL champion Chicago Bears:
Steve Barnett: 255 lbs
Jim Caddie: 240
Roger Davis: 240
Bill George 237
Stan Jones: 252
Ted Karass: 245
Cincinnati Reds have 59 games remaining.
That includes 32 vs:
13 Pirates
7 Marlins
6 Cubs
4 Nationals
2 Twins
The Reds should win 25 of these.

With a .950 OPS, .301 BA, 13 HR, 18 SB, and defense like this...is Corbin Carroll gliding his way to NL Rookie of the Year?
