The Solano County District Attorney's Office is so absolutely averse to transparency that it -- completely without merit -- claims that it doesn't have to provide a list of its staff. I've never seen a public agency with more open contempt for the law.

Rayshard Brooks was shot by Atlanta PD on Friday and already video has been released. Erik Salgado was shot by CHP in Oakland a week ago and OPD still won't say whether there is video. Sean Monterossa was shot by Vallejo PD on June 2 and still there is no video.

Just in: The Vallejo Police Department has moved forward with the termination of Detective Jarrett Tonn for killing Sean Monterrosa in June 2020. This comes after a mandatory review hearing overturned Tonn's termination. Tonn will likely appeal this decision. Story TK.

New tactic to me in public records obstruction: A police dog mauled someone, but the city argues it wasn't a "use of force" because the dog "accidentally" "freed itself" so they don't have to disclose records about it under SB1421 because force is a "decision" by an officer.

Vallejo police have banned the carotid restraint -- a potentially deadly neck hold similar to a choke hold where the goal is to cut off blood flow to the brain. But really everyone killed by Vallejo police since 2011 was just shot.
