Hi Michael, we think you have us confused with the OAFC soccer club ... our organization is also OAFC, but we refer to the Ontario (Canada) Association of Fire Chiefs. Sorry, we don’t know if Doyle is coming back or not 👎🏻
Ontario Government just announced that they will be introducing legislation to amend the FPPA to allow municipalities to employ fulltime FF who volunteer in their own or other communities (double-hatting) and reforms to interest arbitration. More to come! Stay tuned!
We wish to extend condolences to family, friends & colleagues of Chief Patrick Bourguignon of Schreiber Fire who sadly & suddenly passed away last night. This is an unimaginable tragedy. Losing one of our own, under any circumstance, is a devastating loss to the fire community.
It's

To all the first responders who run towards emergencies instead of running away from them, thank you for keeping us safe.

Thank you
@LaurieScottPC
for your advocacy on legislation introduced today protecting firefighters who are employed full time, to volunteer as a FF in the community where they live without reprisal! We also applaud you for pushing reform to fire service interest arbitration.
Today, & any other day, don’t be afraid to speak up about how you’re feeling, or offer support to a colleague, friend or family member you think may be in need. Mental health issues are something that affects us all. But together, we can heal &

May their memory be a blessing to all of us.
#MyMentalHealthIn5Words
First responders need more resources.
Mental health is essential health.
You're more than your diagnosis.
Do not suffer in silence.
Together, we can reduce stigma.
You're stronger than you know.
As important as physical health.
It's okay to talk about.
Tomorrow, we honour those who have who died, were injured or suffered illness because of work. This day helps us remember our colleagues who have made the ultimate sacrifice in service to others. It’s also a time to refocus on the importance of workplace safety.
#DayofMourning
Thank you to all public safety dispatchers who serve as a lifeline between people in need & vital first response services. We appreciate your dedication & hard work to help save lives & that response gets to where they need to be

How are you feeling today? Be honest. It's okay to not be okay. There are many tools available to help you cope with stress & improve your mental health/resiliency... OR assist you in helping someone else thru their journey.

Great public education campaign by

Pleased that
#Bill174
passed with Highway Traffic Act amendments to permit blue lights on all emergency vehicles. We're confident our gov advocacy secured this provision. Thanks to
@clarchief
for championing the issue, enabling safer roadways for 1st responders.
@ONtransport
Did you know that approximately 40 per cent of all barn fires are caused by faulty electrical systems. Regular inspections and maintenance are key to reducing the risk of barn fires.
Wishing
@RamaFireRescue
Assistant Fire Chief James Simcoe a long and happy retirement after 42 years of dedicated service!
We wish you all the best in the next phase of your journey.
We are pleased to have
@lauriescottPC
address 200 fire service leaders this morning at the

Jack's death on
@NBCThisisUs
generated important convos about
#firesafety
. Without

it, we must consider the show's valuable lessons:
1. Regularly check smoke alarms
2. Fires often start in the kitchen
3. Don't return to a burning building
The
#OAFC
is very excited for today's announcement with
@MonteMcNaughton
and
@MPPKerzner
.
Today's announcement puts firefighters and their families first, by providing faster access to supports and benefits that will aid Ontario’s firefighters in their recoveries.
When you change your clocks today, Ontario's
#fire
service leaders ask you change your smoke alarm batteries, too. Replace entire units 10+ years old OR if it doesn’t sound after new batteries installed. Only WORKING smoke alarms save lives!

Many municipalities have put in place total bans on open air burning — in part to make sure firefighters are available to respond to larger emergencies during the COVID-19 pandemic. Check with your local fire department to find out if your community is under one.
#Ontario
Chief fire officers and public educators are urging Ontarians to follow simple - but life-saving - fire prevention measures. Take time this weekend to check your smoke and CO alarms. We don't want to experience any more fire fatalities in 2018!

Today we honour the memory of the 3,000 innocent people who lost their lives due to acts of senseless violence 18 years ago. But let us also remember the brave first responders who selflessly gave everything to save as many as possible.

#safety
reminders:
1. Stay hydrated and take breaks.
2. Check on elderly people & those without A/C.
3. Look before you lock - never leave pets or kids unattended in the car.
4. Limit strenuous outdoor activities.
As of July 1st, any owner or operator of a building with an elevator is required to notify supervisory staff, the fire department, and building occupants when a firefighters’ elevator is not operational.

If you’re spending time at a cabin, cottage, trailer or RV for
#CanadaDay
, make sure that wherever you’re staying is
#firesafe
. That means working smoke & CO alarms. Don’t forget to make & practise an escape plan, too! Here’s how:
@ONsafety
@OFLSE
Looking for a fun
#FamilyDay
activity to try with your kids? Why not create AND practise a home fire escape plan. Don’t forget to plan
#2WaysOut
. Work together as a family to learn about fire safety and get some fresh, winter air! Plan template here:
Sprinklers improve the health & safety of residents & firefighters by controlling the spread of deadly heat, flames & smoke. This gives residents + time to escape, limits property damage & better contains fire by time FD on scene to extinguish!
