When approaching an emergency vehicle with flashing red or red/blue lights, or a tow truck with flashing amber lights stopped on the side of the road, you’re required by law to slow down and proceed with caution.

🚪🔥 A closed door can be a lifesaver! 🛌💤 Always remember to close doors during a fire and before bedtime. It’s a simple action that can slow the spread of fire, reduce toxic smoke, and buy precious time for escape. #FireSafetyTip #CloseBeforeYouDoze

It is important to know the different sounds the alarms in your home make. A Smoke Alarm sounds different from a Carbon Monoxide alarm by the amount of beeps it makes. Watch this week’s How-To-Monday video to hear the difference. #HowToMonday

A big part of #FireSafety includes practicing battery safety. Never charge your phones or electronic devices under your pillows at night. Phones, tablets & laptops should be charged by placing all devices on a hard and stable surface. #BatterySafety #Lithium #LithiumIon

That's leadership. The Fire Chief in @TownofAtikokan who was leading our NFPA 1001 course at the Oliver Paipoonge RTC had flowers waiting for each of the moms in his course yesterday. A small token of thanks, but I am completely floored at his leadership and thoughtfulness!

Sadly many residential fires investigated by @ONFireMarshal have missing, disabled, or expired smoke and carbon monoxide (CO) alarms. There are no good excuses for risking lives. Install smoke and CO alarms, test them monthly and change the batteries if needed. #FireSafety
