ICYMI: This afternoon, U.S. Secretary of Transportation
@PeteButtigieg
visited Tulsa to announce $48.7 million in funding for six projects in Oklahoma to modernize transportation and make it more affordable, increase safety and strengthen supply chains.
WINTER WX: Semi-trailer trucks traveling between OKC and Dallas/Fort Worth are strongly discouraged from using I-35.
Semis are unable to traverse across I-35 in the Turner Falls/Arbuckle area because of the slick and hazardous conditions on the incline.
REMINDER: Bridges and overpasses should NOT be used for shelter during severe storms. In fact, it puts you and other drivers in more danger.

WINTER WEATHER- We’re a little salty after hearing false rumors that we’re out of salt & sand. We have plenty of supplies! In fact, crews spent today adding even more salt to our main yards from stockpiles, so we are ready to go for whatever Mother Nature brings next.🧂❄️
#okwx
DO NOT seek shelter under an overpass! You force people into dangerous situations with no way of escape, and block emergency vehicles from getting to people that need help!
#okwx
SAFETY REMINDER: Bridges and culverts are NOT safe places to shelter during severe storms, which typically produce heavy rainfall. Flood waters are the No. 1 killer out of all natural disasters.

@GovStitt
announces that Oklahoma has moved into the Top Ten for highway bridge conditions, ranking No. 9 according to national data. The state was ranked 49th in 2004.
Avoid speeding on your way to celebrate the end of 2020 and ring in 2021 safely by using all your vehicle’s safety devices: seat belt, signals and mirrors.

For those who don’t know! If it begins to hail while you are driving, pull to a safe place so hail doesn’t break your windshield or windows.

MUSKOGEE CO - SH-100 and I-40 are both closed over the Arkansas River until further notice. Two barges are loose in the navigation channel and the highway bridges are being closed as a safety precaution. Expect delays; avoid area if possible.
ON THE MOVE! The first of the I-235 railroad truss bridges is going into place this morning. Happy to report the progress going quicker than expected so far!
LOVE CO.: All lanes of north and southbound I-35 are closed at mm 15, in Marietta, Love Co, due to storm damage cleanup. Drivers should avoid the area and locate an alternate route.
DYK The number of Oklahoma highway bridges rated structurally deficient has been reduced from an all-time high of 1,168 out of 6,800 in 2004 down to 185 at the end of 2017?

CLEVELAND/MCCLAIN CO: Be alert to new 65 mph speed limit signs going up on north and southbound I-35 between S.E. 89th St. in Oklahoma City and SH-9 West near Goldsby beginning Monday. This change makes the speed limit consistent through Moore and Norman.
OKC: Check out the new N. 50th St. bridge over I-235, which is now open to traffic after a year-long closure. The bridge was rebuilt as part of the $88 million I-235 widening project between N. 36th St. and I-44.

FLOODING: Now that SH-10 is open near Braggs, the "ODOT Express" has made its last run to help get supplies and emergency personnel into town. Thanks to our partners at
@UnionPacific
for sharing the line so that our rail truck could use the tracks during the relief effort.
The Skydance Bridge over I-40 glowed orange last night in honor of the 60 ODOT workers who died in Oklahoma highway work zones. Please slow down and put away all distractions behind the wheel. Your Life Matters:

Congratulations to the
@cityofmoore
on the opening of their unique new S.W. 34th St. bridge over I-35! This city project provides a brand new interstate crossing.
WINTER WX:
@OKDOT
crews continue around-the-clock operations to treat & clear highways. Remember, continued cycles of snow storms can hamper these operations, causing slick areas to develop quickly & poor visibility due to blowing snow.

WINTER WEATHER: With the possibility that some slick areas may have developed overnight on wet roads, use caution, especially on bridges and overpasses. Stay at least 200 feet behind salt and sand trucks for everyone's safety.

TRAVEL: SH-1/Talimena Scenic Drive in LeFlore County is one of the many beautiful places you can see the fall colors coming in across Oklahoma. Why not take a drive across our beautiful state this weekend?

Illegally placed signs are more than an eyesore - they distract drivers & put workers in harms way when removing the signs for mowing & other maintenance. Follow state law & keep campaign signs off highway right-of-way. Place them on private property w/ landowner's permission.
OKC- Good news for drivers: Traffic is moving again on NB and SB I-235 between I-44 and N. 36th St. following railroad bridge installation over the weekend.
New 75 mph speed limit signs are going up on rural interstates, including I-40 in eastern Oklahoma. Remember, it's the driver's responsibility to obey traffic laws and

will be watching. 👀🚓

I-35 SOUTH: We promise we're not trying to challenge you to the most frustrating game imaginable, but you might want to shuffle your route to avoid big delays on I-35 between Purcell & Wynnewood this summer. Use the Drive Oklahoma app or to plan ahead.
All lanes of southbound I-35 are closed south of I-40near S.W. 15th St. & the westbound I-40 off-ramp to southbound I-35 is also closed due to a crash. Drivers can use I-44 to I-240 or locate an alternate route. Crews estimate the closure lasting several hours into the night.
WINTER WEATHER: The sun may be setting but rest assured that crews like this truck on US-60 in Ottawa Co will still be working around the clock to clear snow packed highways and interstates for as long as needed.

detour routes as the state’s largest interstate work zone will launch this month at the I-235 and I-44 interchange in Oklahoma City.

The ongoing closure of I-70 in western Colorado due to rock & mud slides highlights the critical importance of I-40 as one of the only coast-to-coast, all-weather interstate routes. Continually improving I-40 in Oklahoma affects not only the state, but also the national economy.
WINTER WEATHER:
@OKDOT
crews are still out and will remain out addressing highways and interstates until the storm is over and the roads are safe. Please help keep yourself and them safe by staying at least 200 feet back from snow plows.
