Jeremy Corbyn & Diane Abbott signed a parliamentary motion after the Enniskillen poppy day massacre, blaming the UK government for an IRA bomb that ripped through a crowd of innocent people attending a Remembrance Sunday ceremony, killing 11 & injuring 68
Let me help out here as a former Executive Director of the EHRC. There is no intention to remove gender reassignment as a protected characteristic, nor should there be. Clarifying the EqA to redefine 'sex' as 'biological sex' restores women's rights to safety, decency, privacy.
Itโs extremely distressing to see the UKโs equality watchdog, the EHRC, seeking to strip trans peopleโs rights from the Equality Act 2010. By redefining sex, they support removing the rights and protections trans people have had for over a decade ๐งต
After Hancock some urgent questions for HMG:
1. How was footage procured?
2. Who passed it on to Sun and why?
3. What if any involvement by public servants?
4. Implications for national security?
I've worked in women's prisons. I've locked up predatory male sex offenders. *Anyone* with operational experience of how these men target and exploit women will know that forcing them together in custody for the sake of male validation is morally insane.
No equivocation works.
The trans activist outrage that ensues on here whenever I share my belief that jailed women shouldn't be used as validation tools or emotional support props for trans-identified male sex offenders is as revealing as it's predictable.
Such activists can't bring themselves toโฆ

As a former prison Governor, I wholeheartedly support
#Amendment214
Female prisoners many of whom are traumatised through abuse must be protected in law from anatomically male sex offenders being housed in the same accommodation. It seems insane that this is even being debated.
I probably don't have much in common politically with

I have it on good authority that three of the people who took on the terrorist murderer Usman Khan on Friday were former prisoners at HMP Grendon, a unique therapeutic prison where I started as a prison officer. It makes you think. Or it should do.

campaign for leadership of the country. He's been eliminated from this race, sadly, but there's no doubt he transformed the contest and showed all voters the human face of modern Conservatism. He has a very bright future.
This is Paul Maxwell. He went to my school. He was blown to bits by the IRA on a boat in 1979 by terrorists who watched him and other children get on. Mary Lou McDonald says this was 'inevitable.' That is the morality of the asylum.
When Gerry Kelly talks about 'active service' he refers to IRA murders of fellow Irish men wearing the uniform of the Crown, largely executed off duty, in front of their children, on their farms, in cafes, shops, on the steps of their churches. Just in case of any confusion.
You have to pick a side, really. The side of bastards who target an off-duty police officer helping young people, putting bullets into him on the ground as his terrified son looks on. Or the side that wants out of the hateful abyss they want to pull us back into.

This is surely disingenuous. Public Order legislation exists to cover behaviour like this. It doesn't need to specify, it simply creates a test of disorderly or insulting behaviour. Both of which are surely on display in this case.
@IncMonocle
Itโs deeply disrespectful to climb on a war memorial, but thereโs no law making it illegal.
In the absence of a law officers cannot automatically arrest, but they can intervene & make it clear the behaviour isn't acceptable.
Thatโs what they are seen doing here in this video.
This image is not from a war zone, it's from a UK city centre. This is someone's daughter, partner, mother. Uniformed members of the public carry a special burden on our behalf, so violence against them must be met w/the severest sanctions. Or else she stays home. And we're lost.
If you're packing a meat and two veg, you're not *entitled* to be:
a. In women's prisons
b. In women's hospital wards
c. In women's DV shelters
d. In women's toilets
e. In women's sports teams
f. In women's changing rooms
Etc
That's not 'transphobic'. It's decent.

As a former Chief Operating Officer at the EHRC, I spent more time dealing with relentless internal staff grievances by a politicised workforce and driving up performance than delivering fairness. This has a familiar ring to it. via
Why have London hotels, even the previously reliable Premier Inns, become so insanely expensive recently? Who is in 3* hotels for ยฃ240 a night? Did I miss some memo or events that have massively inflated the cost of a bed for the night? It's bonkers.
A short thread on the difference between justice and vengeance. In the late 90s I was Head of Security at HMP Wandsworth. It had a large sex offender population housed in a separate vulnerable prisoners unit (VPU). A notorious child killer was en route from court. 1/
3 years ago today unarmed police officers were severely injured taking on Islamist terrorists near London Bridge. Armed officers neutralised the threat stopping even greater mass murder. Tonight their colleagues are being spat on, assaulted for a crime in the US. Makes you think.

description resonates. We need to get back to a situation where democratically elected ministers deciding is the rule, not an eccentric fluke.
'Unbroken.' Unlike the three children of the innocent young mother, Yvonne Dunlop, he incinerated in a bomb attack. If you eulogise the sectarian killers of your neighbours, you have no place in modern politics.
40 years ago today, at 11am, รglach Thomas McElwee from Bellaghy died after 62 days on hunger strike in the H-Blocks of Long Kesh. He was a political prisoner; unbowed and unbroken. This is his story.

Thread: Even the possibility of Andrew Malkinson being docked compensation for 'bed and board' after 17 years in prison for a crime he did not commit is abhorrent. The principle is no less than an indefensible act of state mendacity. 1/
The idea, God help us, that forcing another NI Assembly election by stonewalling the electorate for 6 months which would then somehow reward Unionism is head in the glue bag level strategic thinking. Words fail me.
I remember building Twelfth bonfires as a kid - the excitement & the adventure. I don't remember burning the flag of my neighbours or scrawling 'Kill All Taigs' on pallets as being part of the culture. Because it isn't culture, it's sectarian hate. Be bigger. Be better. Wise up.
On November 8th 1987 the IRA were responsible for an bomb atrocity in my home town so grotesque it was even condemned by the Kremlin. Twelve of Enniskillen's sons & daughters were murdered laying wreaths at a Cenotaph. My father was a first responder.

I once put up a poster on D wing in HMP Durham encouraging prisoners who were illiterate to apply to my office for classes. I had the piss taken out of me for roughly 700 years.
Those of us who have locked up male sex offenders know that they are adept at insinuating themselves into female spaces. They exploit professional naivete, cowardice and affirmatory processes. The state must not facilitate harm to women and girls.
Why don't we know more about this horrific incident? Why is the reporting so ambiguous three days on? A women is burned alive on a UK street, three people arrested then bailed? What's going on exactly?
There is real momentum now on the pushback to what is, in essence, nothing to do with legitimate trans rights and everything to do with legitimised misogyny. Take your hat off to all the women who said 'enough.' Stop hiding and stand with them.
Last Friday, my familyโs address was posted on Twitter by three activist actors who took pictures of themselves in front of our house, carefully positioning themselves to ensure that our address was visible. 1/8
That's a hard ask, believe me, but one we should be thankful isn't ours and in turn we should recognise the officers hidden away behind the walls who have chosen to step up and do it for us. Making Arthur's merciless killers forgotten, pitiful ghosts is vengeance enough. Ends.

Here's to all women who've had enough and won't submit.
There are two ways of looking at this - a sensible precaution ahead of potential disorder this weekend or an admission that our police can't protect a monument of iconic national significance at the heart of the capital. Either way, this does not reflect well on us as a country.
This is incredibly serious. I used to be head of Security at Wandsworth in the 90s. An escape from custody, as this appears to be would have to defeat multiple layers of physical/human security. We must know what has happened here.
My friend and colleague James stood up for the rights of women in prisons not to be forced to share space with male bodied offenders when many academics looked the other way. He's now under attack for that. I hope women on here will return the solidarity.
I've said it before - in the fullness of time, the manipulation of kids with drugs to reassign gender identity by Tavistock clinic will be as big as the NHS tainted blood scandal.

He died very young. But voluntarily. A choice denied to Yvonne Dunlop who his firebombs incinerated at 26. We must never let these people lionise violent extremists without reminders of the horrors they wrought.
This is grotesque. The only way to stop stupid people getting any power is to expose their stupidity. NUFC and The Premier League defence will collapse like a rotten soufflรฉ under examination. Watch this space
Consider how close this woman, seen here lauding two people who think a campaign of murder of British citizens by IRA terrorists was 'justified' came to being Home Secretary. What a swerve.
Extraordinary show of solidarity by colleagues of Officer Jason Rivera NYPD killed in the line of duty and laid to rest today after a funeral Mass in St Patrick's Cathedral.

We'd also be forgiven for wondering why the Independent gives voice to the Director of Communications for Prostasia - an advocacy group that wants to replace the label Paedophile with 'Minor attracted Person' and believes children can be 'sex workers.'
There may be some confusion here. Heavily armed terrorists 'lost their lives' having blown up a police station while attempting to murder the officers inside. In fact Tyrone & Fermanagh were subsequently released from the grip of killers more used to shooting defenceless victims.

Disappointing report from C4 News on EHRC problems. Attributed & vague accusations voiced by actors, Caroline Noakes clearly unaware that the EHRC job is sometimes to adjudicate between competing rights. Ludicrous unsupported allegations of a lack of 'safety' in the office. Poor.
One final thing for tonight on Sir David Amess murder. Two police officers detain Harbi Ali armed only with batons and pava spray. They didn't wait for armed back up and ran towards a hellish scene not knowing the danger they could face. The best of us all on that horrible day.
The impunity here is chilling. The only way to prevent it is through enforcement. But nobody wants to acknowledge that the most successful knife crime initative in UK in Strathclyde was built on making life impossible for knife carriers FIRST, not 'public health' word salad. 1/
This is lazy gibberish. Northern Ireland has required voter ID for 25 years. The voter ID card (if you've no other valid ID) is free & easy to obtain. High NI voter turnout consistently breaks UK records. Personation threatens democracy more than ID schemes, used the world over.
Excellent. We run awful prisons that are awash with violence & despair. Despite acres of official bullshit about 'rehabilitation culture' in places you'd hesitate to keep cattle, the only thing we really know is there is a strong link between employment & desistance. Bravo McDs!

Bear in mind the little boy tortured to death by those meant to love and protect him today. But also be outraged that Arthur's short life and awful murder happened after the state was alerted and saw nothing. We have a fundamental, repeatedly lethal problem with risk management.
This is mad. Northern Ireland regularly tops the polls for voter turn out in UK. It's had mandatory (free) photo ID requirement for years. Moreover, making it an official identity doc would actually enfranchise poorer people who don't drive etc.
Self-ID and social transition add up to a very dangerous ideology that can have terrible effects on young LGB children, who are being put on a medical pathway to irreversible physical changes.

This is technically known as 'bollocks.' In Northern Ireland voter ID, which is provided free if needed, has been in place for nearly 20 years. NI has some of the highest electoral turnout in UK elections. It *protects* democratic process.
Voter ID wonโt just make it harder to vote. It will also undermine the very basis of democracy -- trust. By encouraging us to view other voters with suspicion, it will damage faith in the electoral process, says

In case there's any confusion here, McElwain was a terrorist who was an active participant in the sectarian executions of usually defenceless people. He was killed when he encountered real soldiers sent to part of the UK to try to stop that routine slaughter. Revisionism sucks.
Seamus McElwain was assassinated 35 years ago today. He was in his own country; those who killed him were not.
Seamus was an IRA Volunteer, he was a participant in conflict. But, he was also a son, a brother, a friend to many who is as sorely missed as all others who were killed.
Owen Jones has weathered over a decade of relentless abuse, sadistic bullying, attacks on his privacy and even physical violence from cowards who wouldnโt last a day doing the work heโs taken on in the world. That includes some of his colleagues in the press. He is so damn brave.
This is very sinister indeed. As is the way the school authorities collapsed immediately in the face of intimidation. Doesn't anyone in charge of this appeasement remember Samuel Paty?
Purpose of Life, a registered charity, has posted a statement naming the teacher now in fear of his life after teaching children about freedom of speech, and in supposedly warning Muslims against violence, has legitimised it by equating violence with the actions of the teacher.
Imagine if more employers showed this enlightened approach? Imagine if there was a Job Centre Plus inside every resettlement prison. Imagine people who have taken being given a real chance to put back. If you want safer communities and fewer future victims, this is what you do.
We have hired hundreds of former prisoners, some have done lots of serious crimes, but on the whole we believe that the people we find in prison are more loyal, more honest and work harder than the people we recruit off the street.
Your media team has 'shat the bed' to use a PR technical term. Either you didn't know, didn't care or were too terrified to stop the youngsters putting what's left of your reputation in the shredder for virtue points. What a decline for a once mighty charity.
People like me won't let people like Roy Greenslade get away with the Disneyfication of the indescribable suffering inflicted by sadists masquerading as 'soldiers' in a 'war.'
Not now, not ever. My piece today.
For the avoidance of any confusion here, this is an MP for the UK parliament honouring 3 heavily armed IRA terrorists intercepted on their way to murder one of their Irish neighbours driving a delivery lorry and the softest of targets. *Executing the coal man for a new Ireland.*

This is the absolute repudiation of violent extremism. A boy robbed of his father by IRA terrorists in my home county, overcomes a trauma that would fell others and goes on to be an outstanding life saving surgeon.
This is utterly revolting. At least the video is high quality. How is it even possible for this level of antisemtic hatred to be directed at kids on a bus in the centre of London? Find them, charge them, bang them up.
Video has emerged of a group of men spitting at a bus full of Jewish teenagers in Oxford Street where the group were celebrating the first night of Chanukah.
If he died for 'Irish Freedom' what did his victim, a 26 year old mother, Yvonne Dunlop, die for, except to save her son from his bomb that incinerated her? These people are no part of any conversation on reconciliation until they stop venerating killers.

'Where are you from?' is a conversational baseline.

This is a classic of the revisionist genre. It omits the fact that Farrell was an IRA terrorist who was in the process of planting a large Semtex bomb packed with shrapnel at a location in Gibraltar that would have murdered dozens of civilians. Her death prevented a massacre.
Thoughts are of Mairรฉad Farrell who would have turned 67 today.

Viewers in GB may be confused here. This happened a few days (not decades) ago in part of the United Kingdom where intelligence on armed thugs planning to glorify a founder of one of the most sectarian terror gangs in the Troubles was placed on a towering 'too difficult' tray.

Incomprehensible. Normalised hatred. They know now, even if they didn't before. it's offensive and hurtful to the thousands of their neighbours the IRA left bereaved, limbless, eyeless, psychologically destroyed. Which is why they sing it. Darkness falls.
