I'm totally confused. I watch the tv showing UK Government adverts advising us things are slowly returning to normal - I can go to work, use public transport, go to the gym, go to shops (Mostly indoors), but I can't watch a Step 7 football friendly outdoors? Utter bollocks!!
Anyone else think the continual use of 'non-elite' to describe anything below the National League North and South is just a bit patronising given it is where we can find the real heart and soul of our game and given the many 1000s who benefit from these proper community clubs?
The
#football
authorities talk about 'well-being' 'safeguarding' 'integrity of the league' etc - next time the pros complain about fixture congestion I give you the April run for Step 6 and very much part-time
@Sandhursttownfc
I know there is a huge debate around the rights/wrongs of 3G pitches but the fact remains that Man United can play on a 3G pitch in the Champions League, yet no club can keep their 3G pitch should they win promotion from the National League to League Two!!
So am I reading this right?
#Grassroots
#football
should have been allowed to continue - but
@FA
advised against it?
The same FA who endorsed the
#nullandvoid
across Steps 3-7?
The same FA who cut the
#facup
prize money?
Is
#nonleague
that much of an embarrassment to the FA?
Finally
@FA
and
@DCMS
please explain:
Why can 1000s meet at the beach?
Why 10m can eat out to help out?
Why are pubs, gyms, swimming pools etc open with measures in place to control access?
Yet 100 people can't socially distance outdoors to watch a
#NonLeague
match?
At a lot of
#nonleague
grounds you'll be able to get in, buy a programme, get a pint, have a burger and even buy a badge for less than the price of this!!
Wasn't yesterday great - a Saturday afternoon where Twitter was swamped with photos from
#nonleague
#football
grounds - just the way a Saturday should be and a move towards a life that is a bit more normal - within all the restrictions though!!
So all that left now is to wish all our followers and the thousands connected with
#Nonleague
#Football
(Players, officials, fans, groundsmen, photographers, physios, 50/50 sellers, those in the Club Shop, Tea bar, behind the bar, all other volunteers etc) a truly Happy Christmas
Wherever you are going today in the wonderful world of
#nonleague
#football
- raise a glass to the many volunteers who keep our game going - kitmen, bar staff, groundsmen, programme editors, chairman, secretaries, local journalists, raffle ticket sellers - everyone!!
As we start the
#NonLeague
season - good luck:
Players
Officials
Fans and
#groundhoppers
Bloggers, tweeters and media
Photographers
Programme Editors
Bar/Catering staff
Groundsmen/Kitmen
Programme, golden goal/raffle ticket sellers
Every volunteer who makes our game special!!
Friday attempt:
@FA
@DCMS
please explain
Why 1000s can meet at the beach?
Why 10m can eat out to help out?
Why pubs, gyms, swimming pools are open with measures in place to control access?
Yet 20-50-100 people can't socially distance outdoors to watch a
#NonLeague
PSF match?
And whether your
#nonleague
team is playing its first game this week or its 4th - let's remember the army of volunteers (Programme Editors, groundsmen, catering staff, turnstile operators, kitmen, 50/50 or raffle ticket sellers etc etc) - without them we wouldn't have a game!!
Things gone horribly wrong here at Leyton Orient vs Lincoln City - a medical emergency in the crowd and they are doing cpr on someone by the side of the pitch and the referee is trying to restart the game!!
Astonishingly, our attempt to swamp twitter with tweets/retweets about the wonderful world of
#NonLeague
#football
has now got us over 29,000 followers - how good is that!! To everyone who puts up with us, who tags us into their photos and reports quite simply - THANK YOU!!
Given what happened at
@Alvechurch1st
yesterday rather than batter
@WembleyFC
into extinction, maybe the
@FA
, BT Sports, Sky and the Premier League could invest a fraction of their billions on a defibrillator at EVERY
#nonleague
#football
club!!
Thursday attempt:
@FA
@DCMS
please explain
Why 1000s can meet at the beach?
Why 10m can eat out to help out?
Why pubs, gyms, swimming pools are open with measures in place to control access?
Yet 50-100 people can't socially distance outdoors to watch a
#NonLeague
PSF match?
Enough is enough we can't sit back and watch the
@FA
and
@CommonsDCMS
ignore logic around
#grassroots
#football
- so we've started a petition.
We need 5 people to sign the petition so that it can be reviewed by the Petition Team - you can sign here:
So many part-time
#nonleague
#football
teams cramming matches into such a short space of time - because the
@FA
refuse to change the date of a meeting. What about player safety let alone the integrity of the competitions? Disgraceful mis-management
Finally Happy
@nonleaguedayuk
2022 - a day to thank everyone who keeps our game going - players, officials, fans, groundsmen, catering and bar staff, turnstile operators, programme editors, 50-50 and golden goal sellers, photographers, bloggers, authors, media - to you all 🍻🍺🍻
Somehow, we have now reached 21,000 followers!! Thank you to everyone who follows us and, more importantly, follows the best game in the world -
#nonleague
#football
!!
Did you know that just 12.5% teams entering the
@EmiratesFACup
are the 92 League clubs? The other 87.5% are
#NonLeague
clubs from the Step 1
@TheVanaramaNL
through to Step 6 of the non-league pyramid?
Great news from Mrs NLC and her continued recovery from cancer - she has moved from a 6 monthly check-up to an annual one - psychologically this is such a positive for her - tremendous news and so proud of her strength to fight this!!
I'm stunned (Mrs NLC says it is 'amazing') but our tweeting/retweeting about
#nonleague
#football
has now got us over 25,000 followers!! I'm in awe at this - 25,000 - wow!!
Thank you to every one of you who really do make this account so very special - 25,000 wow - beer time!!
Had hoped to sneak in one more
#NonLeague
match this season with the
@TheVanaramaNL
Final on Sunday at the London Stadium. Cost for 1 ticket = £43.99 including 99p to email my ticket. That is just taking the piss, so no thanks with many, many a neutral I'm sure deciding 🖕
@GNev2
@SalfordCityFC
average League crowds over the last 7 years or so:
17-18 S2 1766
16-17 S2 1395
15-16 S3 642
14-15 S4 383
13-14 S4 139
12-13 S4 117
11-12 S4 117
Just like to say to each and everyone who followers us or sees this - hoping that you have the perfect Christmas for you. We've loved tweeting/retweeting everything about
#NonLeague
#football
and we love all the responses!! Take care and enjoy - have a great day!!
Anyone else thinking the indecision by the
@TheVanaramaNL
and the nature of the vote is creating an unnecessarily toxic atmosphere between the clubs who can continue and those who can't? There is enough shit about in 2021 without seeing tweets that seem to go way beyond banter!!
#NonLeague
Saturday - After the such crap weather we've had, let's also remember and thank all the volunteers who make our game possible - groundsman, kit-men, physios, programme editors, catering and bar staff - all those UNSUNG heroes who make our game possible!!
Given everything that is going on - it is great the option to go to
#NonLeague
#football
is still there - thank you to the volunteers who have done everything they can to keep things this way. There are guidelines, there are restrictions but we still have
#nonleague
football!!

First round £825/£275
Second round £900/£300
Come on
@FA
- time to review and increase!!
In a year of farcial/inconsistent decisions - take a bow
@FA
showing the contempt you have for
#NonLeague
#football
- again!!
No fans at any ties - regardless of the level of the home team?
No funding for 1st Round losers?
Extra-time introduced?
Why so inconsistent?
Wherever you are going tonight - share your photos of your pitch, floodlights, stands, fans, programme cover, pie, burger, pint - whatever - tag us in and we will Retweet!! Let's swamp Twitter with pre-lockdown
#NonLeague
photos this evening!!
Wednesday attempt:
@FA
@DCMS
please explain
Why 1000s can meet at the beach?
Why 10m can eat out to help out?
Why pubs, gyms, swimming pools are open with measures in place to control access?
Yet 50-100 people can't socially distance outdoors to watch a
#NonLeague
PSF match?
Whatever your result today, however good the beers are tasting, please keep in mind the horrific scenes emerging from
@LCFC
tonight - simply horrific and seemingly almost certain fatalities
Not entirely sure how much longer we will have
#Nonleague
#football
so let's swamp Twitter with photos of pitches, stands, fans, flags, dogs, programmes, burgers, pies, pints - whatever!! Tag us in and we will Retweet - let's make today special!!
Over the course of this weekend 368 teams start their campaign with 184 extra preliminary round ties taking place. A genuine and sincere well done to the
@FA
as each winning side now gets £2,250 whilst the losers now get £750 - a significant increase from last season!!
Off Topic 21 years ago today I was lucky enough to marry Mrs NLC - 21 years - wow!! It has been amazing and we have 2 wonderful kids. Over the last 4 years she has shown such strength, determination and resilience to overcome breast cancer. Here's to another 21 years Mrs NLC!!
Saturday 17 February - Crowd of 5536 at
@TranmereRovers
was bigger than:
10 of the 11 crowds in League 2
3 of the 8 crowds in League 1
3 of the 4 crowds in the Scottish Premiership
The morning after the night before - I'm still numb at what I saw last night. The medical emergency was bad enough but the referee trying to restart the game whilst someone was receiving CPR on the touchline almost next to the lino - I can't understand that. Praying for good news
