Tonight we made history again.
Over the next four years, I promise you that I will wake up every day ready to do the people’s work.
My name is Nicolas O’Rourke and I am your next
@WorkingFamilies
City Councilmember.
It is a moral outrage that charges were dismissed against the ex-officer who killed Eddie Irizarry.
Our city must not accept this sickening reality where police can murder Black and Brown people with impunity.
I'm Nicolas O’Rourke, a minister and organizer for
@PAWorkFamilies
. I have a major announcement for you.
I’ll share it tomorrow (Wed 12/7) among leaders and freedom fighters at a community celebration. We’ll have food and tunes. Join us.
Bartram's Garden, 3–5p.
#NicForPhilly
In 2020, police injured protestors in my neighborhood. Today, those victims won a necessary settlement. But the the city/taxpayers paid it, & the perpetrators weren't held accountable. Until we change the system, police won’t pay for their harms—we will.
Hello from my campaign launch event! It’s official—I’m running to represent you as a Working Families Party candidate for Philadelphia’s city council.
#NicForPhilly
I did the thing.
Proudly cast my vote this morning at West Philly High.
Get out there today, participate in democracy, and let’s win for working families!
We're successfully building the multiracial movement of working people that we had always imagined. The results of this election make that clear.
The Working Families Party is here to stay.
Neighborhoods in every part of the city gave larger shares of their vote to Working Families Party candidates compared to 2019, but the growth was strongest in Black and low-income communities:
Y’all got
@SummerForPA
, and many of the delegation in Harrisburg, out here snatching the Speaker’s chair and holding up the PA House floor until Repub’s take immediate action on their Police Use of Force Bill.
#leadership
As we said from the start, this was a desperate and blatant attempt by the GOP to take away voter’s choices. They failed.
We'll make history in November when Philly voters again reject the Republican Party.
It’s Republicans out, Working Families in.
Far-right extremism brought us way too close to a shutdown that would've endangered working families.
I'll say it again and again and again: the Republicans should not have governing power at any level.
Here in Philly, we're kicking the GOP off City Council for good on Nov. 7.
Here's what
@KendraforPhilly
and I both believe:
Housing is a human right.
One job should be enough.
The safest communities are those with the most investment.
Cities must lead on climate action.
Reproductive rights are a sacred freedom.
Remember how I-95 reopened in only 12 days after the bridge collapse?
Let's channel that same power and urgency towards building safer, healthier schools.
I’m overjoyed to share with you that
@KendraforPhilly
and I have a brand new TV ad.
Voters need to know that Working Families IN = Republicans OUT.
Please watch, share, and then consider chipping in so we can keep it on the air through Election Day:
Dare I say, it's pretty "rad" that
@RiverwardsDems
has endorsed both myself &
@KendraforPhilly
.
Very grateful for this important endorsement from local Democratic volunteers, committee people, and activists.
The coalition is big and getting bigger with each day.
Sending love to the families impacted by today’s tragedy.
I hold
@onepennsylvania
in my prayers as we collectively mourn this tragic loss of life. One PA is doing vital, difficult work engaging Philly communities, and we are so grateful for them.
"This revolution in city politics was brought to you by Philly’s multiracial working class."
Yes it most certainly was.
This must-read
@MichaelCoard
piece breaking down Tuesday's results is worth your time today.
I’m running for Council on a vision of radical love and community care.
That means a future where our public schools are well-resourced, safe, and welcoming. It also means our rec centers and libraries being open seven days a week.
It’s all about the children.
The election may be over, but our work is just beginning. I'm ready to hit the ground running on day one as your City Councilmember At-Large.
If you're interested in serving our city as a member of my Council staff, I encourage you to complete this form:
Yesterday, the city declared that tap water will remain uncontaminated. This is relieving news.
However, we shouldn't absolve culprits of the chemical spill that could've left hundreds of thousands of us without drinkable water.
Corporate greed is a public health issue. 1/🧵
Our campaign drag show was an evening to remember.
Yes, I'm a pastor. A pastor who preaches a message of love in a congregation where all people are welcomed and embraced.
As a man of faith who believes devoutly in LGBTQ+ equality, I'll always show up for this community.
I love my running mate
@KendraforPhilly
. What an extraordinary honor it has been to run alongside you. There's no one else I'd rather stand with in this battle for our city's future.
Now let's make some history and bring home a big win for working families.
Both
@Fiedler4Philly
and I are aligned on a mission to strengthen our public schools, make housing more affordable, and ensure workers earn a livable wage.
Today we hit the doors together to share that vision with voters in South Philly!
These workers are in the middle of a healthcare crisis. I am proud to stand with them as they fight for what they deserve -- and proud to work to ensure that workers have a voice in our government.
@UniteHere
A vote for myself and
@KendraforPhilly
is a vote to stop Republicans. It's also a vote to strengthen and solidify independent Black political power in our city.
Please take a moment to read today's column from
@MichaelCoard
.
Our interfaith movement is daring to speak up and lead a moral agenda for Philadelphia.
This moment in history demands a bold imagination for what is possible.
Now is our time.
Beating the Republicans in fundraising. Beating them in endorsements. And on November 7th, it's beating the Republicans at the ballot box.
Almost half of our campaign's donations were under $100.
The state of this people-powered movement is strong ✊🏽
Good morning SEPTA riders! My name is Nicolas O’Rourke and I’m running for City Council At-Large.
As a SEPTA user myself, know that I’ll fight for the safe, clean, reliable transit service that all Philadelphians deserve.
It means the world to have the support of unions representing hard-working people all across our city.
@KendraforPhilly
and myself will always fight for workers to have a living wage and dignity on the job.
There's no power like union power. ✊🏾
Philly passed its Domestic Worker Bill of Rights 3 years ago. However, many of our city’s 16,000 nannies, house cleaners & care workers still see staggering wage theft, intimidation & anti-worker retaliation as they wait to reap the benefits of this law they fought hard to win.🧵
Blessed to be out here with family and friends.
You may be approached by one of these little ones outside a polling place asking you to vote for myself and
@KendraforPhilly
!
Clearly. High time.
If you’re looking to the left wherever you are, check out
@WorkingFamilies
If you’re in PA, look for
@PAWorkFamilies
If you’re in Delaware, we have you there too. Check out

I stand with the trans community of Philly and condemn attacks based on bigotry and hatred. In a year that has horrible seen violence targeting trans men and women, particularly those of color, we must make it clear that we are united against this hate.
Don't hold up a Bible as justification for your bigotry against LGBTQ+ folks.
Scripture didn't inform your plot to destroy democracy on Jan. 6.
Nor did it inspire you to want guns flooding our streets.
ENOUGH of the far-right weaponizing religion to advance fascism and hate.
Speaker Mike Johnson tonight: “Someone asked me today in the media, ‘People are curious, what does Mike Johnson think about any issue?’ I said, ‘Well, go pick up a Bible off your shelf and read it. That’s my worldview.”
“I have a proven track record,” Brooks said in an interview. “Whether you agree or disagree with me on the issues, I have done my job, and I’ve done it well.”
Period.
Throughout this primary cycle, our movement demonstrated that we are a serious, passionate, unified, resilient—and not to mention joyous—force to be reckoned with. 🧵
Good morning from West Philly!
I’m out here visiting polling locations with my friend
@RickforPhilly
reminding residents to vote for myself and
@KendraforPhilly
first.
We even have a little chant we’d like to share with you…
I am a strong supporter of
@NikilSaval
's successful Whole Home Repairs Program.
On Council, I'll work to expand it at the local level. I'll also fight for stronger investments in the neighborhoods where it's needed most.
Quality housing and public spaces make our city safer.
Wow. THANK YOU to all my incredible friends, role models and people I’ve yet to meet who came out to my launch event this afternoon. I’m feeling inspired, hopeful and supported. All the gratitude; can’t wait to do this campaign with you all. When we fight, we win.🔥
#NicForPhilly
We must realize that defunding and re-investing is what is done with a budget. There is nothing inherently “radical” about it at all. What it reveals is where our values are.
Abortion access is fundamental and non-negotiable. On Council, I will raise my voice alongside
@kendraforphilly
to boldly defend reproductive freedom.
This race is a choice between us and Republicans — and we know Republicans can never be trusted with our most sacred rights.
My proposal to create a Reproductive Task Force PASSED City Council this week.
We're convening leaders with the goal of expanding how abortion access is protected at the local level.
I will never waver on defending reproductive freedom in Philadelphia.
One week until Election Day.
I've been talking to SEPTA riders about how I'll work to improve public transit and make this a city that truly works for all of us.
Vote Working Families in, Republicans out by Tuesday, November 7!
Philly is a union town. Solidarity with
@TUGSA_6290
.
@TempleUniv
’s tentative agreement—released after 3 wks of
#tugsastrike
—didn’t meet the union’s simple demands for living wages and healthcare for dependents. This is no way to treat dedicated workers who keep Temple running.
On Sunday mornings, I preach to my pulpit about social justice.
The rest of the week, I'm organizing to make our city fairer, safer, and affordable.
Check out my new ad. Let's give working families a stronger voice on City Council. ✊🏾
Both
@KendraforPhilly
and I strongly encourage Philadelphians to support
@JudgeMcCaffery
and the Democratic judges on the ballot.
Abortion rights, workers' rights, and the future of democracy are at stake in these critical judicial elections.
I'm a pastor and an organizer running for City Council. My vision is one of community care and radical love.
✅ Housing as a human right
✅ Real community safety
✅ Climate & racial justice
✅ Fully-funded public schools
✅ Livable wages & good union jobs
This is the proof that our campaign is building a coalition across race&class. Our shared values unite us.
We want a city that invests in its communities, values its workers, & fights the climate crisis.
We're only growing. I can’t wait to see what we accomplish, together.
I saw a sign in Nicetown that gave me hope—their
@FreeLibrary
is now open on Saturdays. These public-serving initiatives are critical to curtailing community violence. Keep reading to see why. 1/🧵:
The fearless organizing of
@UAW
members has resulted in a major agreement with Ford for higher wages, better pensions & more protections on the job.
Our full solidarity remains with the auto workers as they close a deal with GM and Stellantis.
Workers fighting = workers winning
Congratulations to my running mate
@kendraforphilly
on receiving an endorsement from presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren! Philly deserve a fighter like Kendra on council.
Election Day is only 3 days away! Don't forget to vote for me, Nicolas O'Rourke, for Philadelphia City Council At-Large on the
@WorkingFamilies
ticket (
#717
) this Nov. 5th.
Together we can build a new Philadelphia that works for the many and not the few.
#WFPnotGOP
We mourn our neighbors, taken from us earlier this week, at the hands of senseless, heart-wrenching violence.
We remember:
Da’Juan Brown, 15
Lashyd Merritt, 21
Ralph Moralis, 59
Dymir Stanton, 29
Joseph Wamah Jr., 31
(1/4)
“Farming policy might be a domestic matter for a country.
But civil liberties are not.
When there are young black people that are shot in the United States, by police officers; this is a universal human rights issue. 1/3
For those of you who still have a mail ballot, it's time to submit those ballots! Since we're so close to Election Day, do not put your ballot in the mail.
Instead, use one of the many secure drop off locations across the city before 8pm tomorrow.
Started another morning at a school (Greenfield Elementary) talking with families about their aspirations for our city.
Asking everyone to get out and vote tomorrow for myself and
@KendraforPhilly
! We'll fight resolutely for the fully-funded schools all of our children deserve.
Seeing a Bezos article circulate suggesting he’s on track to be the worlds first trillionaire. With a “T”
Meaning he would be able to give every single person alive on the planet today $140 each.
Shouldn’t be ground breaking, but uh..
To be sure, trillionaires shouldn’t exist.
I'm honored to receive the endorsement of
@32bjseiu
, the largest union of property services workers— with over 175k members.
I’m running for council because I want to make Philly work for working people. I’m proud to stand with unions in this fight for justice and democracy.
Hello from
@UncleBobbies
!
Wonderful to spend the morning here indulging in coffee and conversation. This is a treasured space for belonging, learning, culture, and service.
21,500 signatures.
21,500 Philadelphians believe
@kendraforphilly
,
@JarrettBSmith
& I belong on November’s ballot. You believe the GOP's attacks on democracy don’t earn them governing power our majority working-class home city. (1/3)

I am an organizer by training and a minister by calling.
Profoundly honored that leaders from diverse faith communities joined together today to canvass for our campaign.
People of good faith are speaking up and demanding the safe, just, prosperous city we all know is possible.
It is a true privilege and honor to run alongside my sister
@KendraforPhilly
.
At times, she's been the only voice in City Hall calling out for the progress working families need.
Send me to Council so I can stand with her in the tough fights to come.
I've fought hard for working families these past four years, but I can't fight these battles alone.
I need my brother
@NicforPhilly
standing strong with me on Council for safer neighborhoods, affordable housing, and reproductive freedom.
Vote for Nicolas and myself on Tuesday.
Vernon Park was a sea of purple this morning! We just launched a huge canvass in Germantown with
@seiuhcpa
,
@Seth4ThePeople
&
@Rabb4ThePeople
.
Now is the time to get out the vote. Please join us and knock doors this weekend:
Jeffrey Yass is a far-right billionaire who uses his wealth to elect extreme Republicans. Now he's spending big to defeat myself and
@KendraforPhilly
.
Humbly asking for your help right now so we can fight back strongly and defeat the GOP in Philadelphia.
Myself and
@KendraforPhilly
are championing a bold vision for climate justice.
Inaction is unacceptable when faced with rising waters, hotter temperatures, and harmful toxins.
We look forward to working alongside
@SunrisePhilly
to build a climate resilient Philadelphia.
🚨🚨 Today is the day!! Get to the polls and cast your vote! Remember: As long as you are in line by 8pm you can make your voice heard! Time to get
@WorkingFamilies
on the City Council.
#WFPnotGOP
A beautiful Saturday morning to canvass with
@phila2ndward
!
Only 10 days left to share with voters our vision for a city where the streets are safe, the housing is affordable, and the schools are fully-funded.
It’s Republicans out, Working Families in.
A belief in the dignity of all people is why I'm in this fight.
Compassionate care and courageous leadership are in short supply at City Hall.
Let's finally build a Philadelphia every single one of us can be proud of.
I stand proudly in solidarity with working people to organize for higher wages, stronger benefits, and dignity on the job.
This was from the Labor Day Parade back in September. I'll continue to show up for our unions as your City Councilmember At-Large. ✊🏽
I stand with educators in Chicago fighting to not only improve conditions for themselves but also to improve the learning environment their students are placed in. Here in Philly, we also have a responsibility to start investing in education
#CPSSTRIKE
Fully-funded schools, libraries, and rec centers should be the reality in every Philadelphia neighborhood.
Spoke with West Philly parents this morning about how I'm committed to supporting our public schools and public spaces.
Both
@KendraforPhilly
& I are focused on increasing turnout, empowering Black voters, and defeating Republicans.
Thank you to Rikeyah and everyone speaking out and supporting our campaigns!
Ramadan Mubarak! 🤍🌙
I’m practicing my own reflection: resetting and reorienting towards God in the Christian season of Lent as Leslie—my wife—prepares to observe the
#Ramadan
fast beginning tomorrow. (1/5)
The safest communities are the communities with the most investment.
Let's fund schools. Fund housing. Fund healthcare. Fund parks. Fund libraries. Fund rec centers. Fund transit.
Divestment creates the conditions for violence.
Racism. Abortion bans. Transphobia. Union bashing. Attacking immigrants. Climate denial. The list could go on.
It all come out during that shameful Republican debate last night.
Whether we're talking about the White House or City Hall, this party has NO business being in power.
Here are some of the outstanding volunteers at our West Philly canvass today. Knocking on doors and talking to our neighbors is how we ensure a win for working families on November 7.
Please come out and join us for an upcoming canvass near you:
I'm thrilled to earn the endorsement of our state’s largest union of healthcare workers—
@seiuhcpa
!
I understand that better working conditions are a vital first step in improving patient care. I’m honored to stand with
@seiuhcpa
in this critical effort.
#Solidarity
#UnionStrong
Who’s got the power? We got the power.
What’s that power? UNION power.
A little rain couldn’t stop this incredible
@UNITEHEREPhilly
crew from canvassing today. ✊🏽
Bishop
@ddroyster
is a dear mentor of mine and a true moral leader in our city.
I can't express how much it means to have his support and guidance as I run for City Council At-Large.
