Pennsylvania Working Families Party is proud to support
@malcolmkenyatta
for U.S. Senate! Malcolm is running to take back a Republican-held, open seat and take the fight for economic, racial, and climate justice to Washington, DC.

Today we rescinded our endorsements of five state representatives who voted to censure

as part of the Republican impeachment effort. 1/

@Innamo
's win is a triumph of organized people over right-wing donors. We can't wait to work with her to curb fracking, increase affordable housing & make Allegheny County work for the many, not the few.
This 4/20 let’s remember that
81% of cannabis business owners profiting off the industry are white.
Meanwhile Black folks are 264% MORE likely to be ARRESTED for possession, even though use rates are similar.
The push for legalization must include cannabis justice.
In sum: Six wealthy, predominantly white, Ivy League educated justices who have accepted yacht trips and six-figure gifts just ruled against the 44 million people in America being crushed by student loans.
In sum: The Supreme Court just ruled 6-3 against the Biden administration's student loan forgiveness plan, preventing the plan from taking effect. The vote is split between conservative and liberal justices.
“YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO JOIN WITH COWORKERS TO ADDRESS CONDITIONS AT WORK. THE NATIONAL LABOR RELATIONS ACT PROTECTS THE RIGHT OF EMPLOYEES TO FORM OR JOIN A UNION OR REFRAIN FROM DOING SO.”
Brandon Johnson winning in Chicago and Helen Gym winning in Philly would be such a powerful and historic repudiation of the decades-long bipartisan corporate ed reform campaign to privatize public schools and destroy teachers unions.
What
@TempleUniv
is doing is downright disgraceful. It is anti-worker, anti-union and we will not stand for it in our city.
We are in full solidarity with

Yesterday, Dems joined with Rs in the PA state house to hold
@DA_LarryKrasner
in contempt. While we expect the Republican caucus to try to nullify the votes of everyday Philadelphians who voted overwhelmingly to support DA Krasner, it's shocking & shameful that Dems joined them
The Supreme Court struck down President Biden's $400 billion student loan giveaway. The President does not have the Constitutional authority to spend money on his own. This ruling upholds Congress's Power of the Purse. Congress must approve how taxpayer money is spent.

“The evils of capitalism are as real as the evils of militarism and racism. The problems of racial injustice and economic injustice cannot be solved without a radical redistribution of political and economic power.”
— Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
BREAKING: In a 6-3 decision, the Supreme Court decides Moore v. Harper and rejects the independent state legislature theory, which claimed state legislatures have total authority over elections.
This ruling ensures that courts can still strike down state election laws and maps.
The
@paworkfamilies
is proud to endorse
@Innamo
for Allegheny County Executive — she is the candidate that represents working people and will fight to expand housing access, bring down costs and create jobs in renewable energy.
Minimum wage increased yesterday for nearly half of all U.S. states: AK, AZ, CA, CO, CT, DE, HI, IL, ME, MD, MI, MN, MI, MO, NB, NJ, NY, OH, RI, SD, VT, WA, and Washington, DC.
What’s happening in Harrisburg isn’t just an attack on Larry Krasner or the criminal justice reform movement. It’s an attack on Philadelphia’s democracy, and a slap in the face to Philadelphia voters who overwhelmingly reelected Krasner just last year. 3/
Packed house this afternoon at the
@DA_LarryKrasner
press conference - everyone is here to say that our voices matter and we will not let PA Republicans take away our votes
We are proud to have thrown down with
@HelenGymPHL
We congratulate
@PeopleforParker
on becoming Philly’s first Black woman Democratic nominee for Mayor. We look forward to working together on an agenda that invests in good public schools, workers' rights & a more affordable city
I entered this movement out of necessity. The moment when my children’s school faced privatization changed me – and that struggle a decade ago taught me the power of our movements, of solidarity, of community organizing, of fighting a battle that seemed impossible. (1/)
WFP has withdrawn its endorsements from State Reps. Jessica Benham, Danillo Burgos, Nancy Guenst, Emily Kinkead, and Danielle Otten. In July, we withdrew support for State Rep. Joe Hohenstein for voting with Republicans on this sham investigation. 2/
“The growth of the WFP in Philly is a bright spot for progressives, as it serves as the base for a true labor-left bloc in the city, with unions and progressive organization a uniting to support left-wing candidates and causes” 🐺💪
While these legislators worked on many issues that matter to working families in Pennsylvania, we cannot continue to support any elected officials or candidates who support efforts by authoritarian Republicans to overturn the will of Philadelphia voters. 4/4
We couldn't be more proud to elect
@Rue_Landau
to city council at-large!
Rue is not only deeply committed to the issues that matter most to Philadelphians, but she is extremely experienced working in city government & we're confident that she'll be an effective member of council
It's

Vote, May 16th: Lets build a government that works for its people.
This is thanks to the countless volunteers, organizers, and leaders in the progressive movement that spent months organizing and mobilizing folks to show out and vote. Thank you to everyone who has been with us every step of the way. We could not do this without all of you 💜🧡
"By removing
@JohnFetterman
for simply trying to ensure all lawfully elected members be sworn in, they exercised a ridiculous abuse of power right out of Trump’s playbook of denial & obstruction. We must be steadfast in our rejection of Trumpism in Harrisburg." -
@Orourke4Philly
You’ve heard of “girl math,” well here’s some WFP math🤓
“In absolute terms, the Working Families Party earned 40% more votes this year compared with 2019. That’s in an election with 13% fewer votes cast for the at-large race overall than in 2019.”
Congrats to
@KendraPHL
on the passage of the Emergency Paid Sick Leave Bill! Thank you for being a tireless advocate for workers and fighting for basic workplace protections during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. No one should have to choose between their health and their paycheck
It's disappointing to see
@RepHohenstein
join Republican attacks against
@DA_LarryKrasner
. Black and brown voters in Philadelphia drove Krasner's reelection last year, and his progressive vision for criminal justice reform commands broad support among Philadelphians.
We took a bet on ourselves and made history.
Yesterday, against all odds but with hard work and principled organizing from
@PAWorkFamilies
, Philadelphia elected
@kendraforphilly
and
@nicforphilly

Yesterday I was so happy to announce that North Philly voters will have masks and sanitizer the polls on Election Day thanks to donations from

This victory is the work of so many amazing people and organizations who have been fighting for many years for a better Allegheny County.
Today, PA Working Families Party has announced new endorsements in races across Pennsylvania. The WFP has backed Ed Gainey for Mayor of Pittsburgh, Tyler Titus for Erie County Executive, Connor Mulvaney for Pittsburgh City Council, and Anita Prizio for Allegheny County Council.

Larry Krasner was overwhelmingly elected by a multiracial coalition of Philadelphia voters and this sham of a vote spits in the face of everyone who cast a ballot in that contest.

Right now the PA House GOP are holding a conference on their sham impeachment of Larry Krasner.
We are calling this what it is - an undemocratic power grab. Larry Krasner was overwhelmingly re-elected just last year, and his victory was driven by Philadelphia’s Black voters.
Disgusting. There is absolutely no place for this kind of hateful, misogynistic and anti LGBTQ sentiment and language in Philadelphia - especially not by those seeking to hold elected office.
Nicolas O'Rourke, PA WFP Organizing Director, has released the following statement in response to
@Commish_Schmidt
's resignation:
"We are asking Mayor Jim Kenney and the City Council to appoint and confirm a designated member from a third party rather than a Republican."
CALLS TO RESIGN: After a report surfaced accusing Pennsylvania Congressman Scott Perry of attempting to help former President Trump overturn election results, elected officials are calling for his resignation.
Mailers attacking three progressive Philadelphia state legislators with brutally blunt terms and images are now rupturing the group that sent them — and raising questions about who funded them and whether they are connected to the city’s Democratic Party.
The voice + power of Philadelphians cannot be bought by a Republican billionaire.
The power + momentum of the working-class and our candidates is clear, however we aren’t surprised that once again Jeffrey Yass is attempting to buy power, threaten democracy and support the GOP.
This Philly super PAC spent more than $1.4 million to attack Helen Gym, a progressive who was running for mayor.
Now, they've set their sights on third-party candidates trying to oust the GOP.

A slate of progressive third-party candidates filed nomination papers Monday to run for office in Philadelphia, pledging during a news conference to oust Republicans who they say “do not deserve governing power” in City Hall.
We are in Harrisburg today as House Republicans move to vote on the impeachment of Larry Krasner.
Today, on the last day to register to vote before November 8th, Republicans are more interested in playing politics than empowering voices.
Today is the Day of Remembrance of Japanese American Incarceration.
We must acknowledge this shameful history and the devastating impact this had on the 120,000 Japanese Americans sent to internment camps — further, we must ensure this oppression never happens again to any group
On this day in 1942, 82 years ago FDR issued Executive Order 9066, which began the mass eviction, forfeiture of property & incarceration of 120,000 Japanese-Americans into concentration camps.
Standing with
@malcolmkenyatta
and Black queer people everywhere who deserve to live as their whole selves and participate in politics without facing bigotry and hatred.
We hope the Democrats who cast a vote against Krasner have gotten their fill of news headlines and will focus on the important work of passing common sense gun legislation and investing in our communities to help Larry Krasner keep the streets of Philadelphia safe.
The air in Philly + along the coast tells us what we already know — the climate crisis is here, its impacts are connected across the globe & it will impact all of us — but disproportionately low income, Black + brown and folks without shelter
Climate action. At every level. Now.
