Heavy rain fell late yesterday and overnight across parts of VA, WV and MD which led to some rises on streams and rivers. Much lighter rain is expected the rest of today, then drier weather is on the way for tomorrow and into early next week.
[6PM Friday] Precipitation of around 2.0 in. forecast over the next 24 hours over parts of the Mid-Atlantic US. In the MARFC forecast area, the heaviest amounts are expected in Virginia

The weekly national drought monitor product was updated this morning. Portions of the Mid-Atlantic are currently abnormally dry but no areas of moderate drought have been identified. Also shown is the precipitation departures for the last 90 days.

The wet pattern continues for the Mid-Atlantic. Showers continue today for portions of NY, eastern PA, & NJ. Dry conditions expected Thurs followed by a return of widespread rain late Fri/Sat. Despite recent rainfall and local river rises, river flooding is unlikely at this time.
